1. Introduction
1.1 Introduction
RADIUS Log Light is a newly research & design inverter monitoring product of Gefran. It can collect and analyse photovoltaic station inverter running data via Bluetooth connection, and display monitoring data on LCD screen, user can browse data on computer as well. RADIUS Log Light can monitor maximum 4 inverters simultaneously.
RADIUS Log Light has standard data communication interface, including RS232 serial port, USB port, and Bluetooth, it can smoothly compatible with your existing systems.
RADIUS Log Light has the following features:
1. Remote monitor and control
2. Communicate with APV inverters via Bluetooth
3. Monitoring data store in SD card which plug to RADIUS Log Light.

1) Insert the USB terminal of USB wire to power adapter socket, and insert the opposite terminal (MINI USB) to MINI USB port socket.
2) Insert SD card to SD card socket.
3) Connect power adapter to public gird power outlet
4) Turn on power switch of RADIUS Log Light.
2.3 LEDindicator
There are 3 LED indicators on the right of LCD screen, you can get RADIUS Log Light running status by checking up the 3 LED lights.
LEDlights Function
BT Power Indicate Bluetooth modules status
BT State Indicate Bluetooth connection status

1) BTPowerIndicator
If LED indicator blink once per several seconds, it shows bluetooth modules are working in normal sta-
tus. You can check out master device and slave devices by examine the blink interval of LED. LED blink once every 2 seconds shown it’s a slave device, the master device’s blink interval is 5 seconds.
RADIUS Log Light is working in master mode and inverter bluetooth module in slave mode.
2) BTStateIndicator
Dark LED light indicates connection was established with other bluetooth device, a blink LED indicates
connection haven’t established.
If connection haven’t established, you can check whether RADIUS Log Light had stored logical address
of pair bluetooth device, by examine the LED blink times. Quick blink (2 times per second) indicate logical address had been stored, slow blink (once per second) indicate haven’t stored the logical address.
For master device, blink once every 2 seconds when searching device, quick blink 4 times in a second
when nding a pair device, blink once when connecting, and become dark in connected status.
The two indicators (BT power, BT state) are all dark when bluetooth modules are in sleeping status, or
working at parameter setting mode.
3) ChargeIndicator
Turn on if exterior power supply came in, else in dark status.

5. IntroductiontoBluetoothmodulesetting
Bluetooth module is a hardware device insert to inverter’s RS232 port. Bluetooth RS232 Conguration is a parameter setting software for Bluetooth module. It can set Bluetooth module device name, ow control method, Bluetooth encryption password (pair code), etc.
5.1 MaininterfaceofBluetoothRS232Conguration
Fig 5.1 Bluetooth RS232 Conguration main interface
Port Num: Serial port number of computer
Flow Control: Select None
Device Name: Bluetooth name display on RADIUS Log Light
Baud rate: Default baud rate is 9600 baud.
Class of Device: The communication pair of Bluetooth must have a same class code. If not, set master
device to ox000000, then slave device can set to any you like.
Master: Set as a master device. If devices communicate via Bluetooth, it required one is master
device, the other one slave. Bluetooth modules are working as a slave device.
Encryption: If ticked, the pair devices must use password to communicate with each other, data trans-
ferred will encrypt as well.
Bind Addr: Bind address, whether bind to a pair device. If ticked, Bluetooth module can not be con-
nected by other Bluetooth device any more. If not ticked, it can connect by any Bluetooth device.
Bound BD Addr: Inquire bound address by click “Search Device”
Clear: Clear Bluetooth pair address saved before. When connected to another address, Bluetooth
module saved it address. That hold back other Bluetooth devices’ connect attempt. By doing the clear operation, the module can connect to other devices again.

Use a RS232 wire to connect Bluetooth module and computer RS232 port.
The problem is both computer port and Bluetooth module port are female RS232 port
, so a wire
with both two male RS232 port
is needed.
5.3 SetBluetoothencryptionpassword
There are two operating mode of Bluetooth module: parameter setting mode and communication mode. You can switch modes by pressing the small button on module. You must let Bluetooth module working in parameter setting mode before set parameter. After set nished, press the button to switch module to communication mode again.
Follow the following step to check or set encryption password
1) Connect Bluetooth module to computer by RS232 wire.
2) Press module mode button to switch module to parameter setting mode.
3) Run Bluetooth RS232 Conguration software, select correct serial port number and select ow control to “None”.
4) First Click “Query” to check the existing settings.
5) Then tick encryption check box and input password.
6) Click “Set” to apply, and wait for setting nish.
7) Click “Query” to check the setting result.
8) Press module mode button again to switch module to communication mode.

6. Q&A
1) Why my RADIUS Log Light can not connect to inverter (with Bluetooth module)?
1. Encryption password (pair code) is different. Check Bluetooth module’s encryption password by
“Bluetooth RS232 Conguration”. ENTER “Set BT code” interface and inquiry RADIUS Log Light module’s password. Check and correct it to the same.
2. Bluetooth module is in parameter setting mode (the 2 Bluetooth indicator lights all dark). Press the
small button to allow module run in communication mode (the 2 indicator lights all blink).
3. If problem still exist, entry “Reset COMM” interface and reset RADIUS Log Light module.
2) Why RADIUS Log Light can’t write data to SD card?
1. There is a write LOCK switch in the side of SD card. Check if SD card have been locked, switch
LOCK to another side.
2. Check your Bluetooth module number has been set correct. You must set it to actual Bluetooth
number used.
