How It Works
The USB MIDI extender sender unit is connected to the computer using the supplied USB cable. The remote peripheral(s) are connected to the receiver unit. A category-5 (CAT-5) cable is used to link the sender to the receiver.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the USB MIDI Extender. Extending your USB peripherals (i.e. computer keyboard, mouse or trackball) up to 150 feet away from the location of your Macintosh or PC computer are done easily with the USB MIDI Extender.
The USB MIDI extender extends any USB device up to 150 feet from the location of your computer, eliminating the 16 feet distance limitation of USB. The USB MIDI sender and receiver units use one CAT-5 cable for extension. It is optimized for applications where two devices, such as the keyboard and mouse, must be operated remotely. The USB MIDI extender can even be used to extend surveillance cameras for security purposes. The USB MIDI Extender extends any MIDI device.
How It Works
The USB MIDI extender sender unit is connected to the computer using the supplied USB cable. The remote peripheral(s) are connected to the receiver unit. A category-5 (CAT-5) cable is used to link the sender to the receiver.

READ THESE NOTES AND FEATURES BEFORE INSTALLING
OROPERATING THE USB MIDI EXTENDER.
• The USB MIDI sender and receiver were designed to operate on USB enabled computers and systems. DO NOT attempt to use this equip ment with any other type of computer.
• Only dedicated Category 5 UTP type cable (CAT-5) is recommended for this application (pin to pin). Shielded CAT-5 cables are recommended for long distances to protect your signal from EMI.
• The length of cable used to connect the USB MIDI Extender MUST NOT EXCEED 150

USB MIDI EXTENDER INSTALLATION
1. Place the USB MIDI Reciever unit close to the USB devices at the re mote end.
2. Connect the USB devices to the USB MIDI Reciever unit.
3. Place the USB MIDI Sender unit close to the host computer.
4. Connect the USB MIDI Sender unit to the USB MIDI Reciever unit using the desired
length of CAT5 cable.
5. Connect the USB•100S unit to the host computer using the USB cable supplied with
the unit. This connection should be made last.

WARRANTY
Gefen Inc. warrants the equipment it manufactures to be free from defects in material and workmanship.
If equipment fails because of such defects and Gefen Inc. is notifi ed within two (2) year from the date of shipment, Gefen Inc. will, at its option, repair or replace the equipment, provided that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical, electrical, or other abuse or modifi cations.
Equipment that fails under conditions other than those covered will be repaired at the current price of parts and labor in effect at the time of repair. Such repairs are warranted for ninety (90) days from the day of reshipment to the Buyer.
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied, including without limitation, any implied warranty or merchantability or fi tness for any particular purpose, all of which are expressly disclaimed.
1. Proof of sale may be required in order to claim warranty.
2. Customers outside the US are responsible for shipping charges to and from Gefen.
3. Copper cables are limited to a 30 day warranty and cable must be free from any scratches, markings, and neatly coiled.
