Introduction

The ex•tend•it DVI Detective reads and remembers the EDID of your display.
The DVI Detective allows you to use Gefen’s DVI-DL on computers that
require an EDID on boot up. It also allows you to use Gefen’s DVI
Switcher or ADC Switcher without having to be selected to the computer
that is booting up.

How it works

Connect your DVI or ADC monitor to the ex•tend•it DVI Detective

and then power the DVI Detective. The ex

•tend•it DVI Detective then

reads the EDID of your display, and once the LED stops blinking the
ex

•tend•it DVI Detective has remembered the EDID of your display.

You can now connect your ex

•tend•it DVI Detective to your computer

with a short DVI cable, and then connect it to your ex

•tend•it DVI-DL,

ex

•tend•it DVI Switcher or ex•tend•it ADC Switcher.

How to Connect the DVI Detective to your

Computer and Displays

1- Power on your display, and connect your display to the DVI Out on the

DVI Detective.

2- Plug the 5v power supply into the DVI Detective, once the LED stops

blinking the DVI Detective has finished reading the EDID of the display.

3- You can connect the DVI In into your computer with DVI cable, and

connect your DVI Switcher, ADC Switcher or DVI-DL to the DVI
Detective DVI Out.

4- Restart your computer only after you’ve made all the connections.

Warranty

Gefen Inc. warrants the equipment it manufactures to be free from defects
in material and workmanship. If equipment fails because of such defects
and Gefen Inc. is notified within one (1) year from the date of shipment,
Gefen Inc. will, at its option, repair or replace the equipment, provided
that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical, electrical, or
other abuse or modifications. Equipment that fails under conditions other
than those covered will be repaired at the current price of parts and
labor in effect at the time of the repair. Such repairs are warranted for
ninety (90) days from the day of re-shipment to the Buyer.

This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied,
including without limitation, any implied warranty or merchantability or
fitness for any particular purpose, all of which are expressly disclaimed.
