READ THESE NOTES BEFORE IN STALL ING
OR OPERATING DVI FM EXTENDER
• The fi ber optics cable must be treated carefully when connectors are exposed. They
are susceptible to dust which can contribute to loss of pixels.
• DVI FM Extender works for all DVI displays and supports resolutions up to 1920x1200
• DVI FM Extender is housed in a metal box for better RF shielding.
• Supports DDWG standard for DVI compliant monitors
• Uses the included DVI Detective for EDID information

Thank you for purchasing Gefen’ s DVI FM Extender . The DVI FM Extender allows extension of DVI up to 2000 feet without losing any quality.

HOW TO INSTALL THE DVI FM EXTENDER
1
Program the DVI Detective with your DVI monitor (see page 6 for instructions).

Connect the DVI Detective Input to the DVI source using the supplied cable

Connect DVI FM Extender Sender unit directly to the DVI Detective output.

Connect DVI FM Extender Receiver unit to your DVI display.

Connect the four fi ber optics between the sender and receiver.

Plug the 5V power supply into DVI FM Extender receiver.

Power on your source and you should see a beautiful picture.
* Cable Requirement - 50 or 62.5 micron multimode fi ber optics cable

PROGRAMMING THE DVI DETECTIVE
How to Program the DVI Detective
1- Power on your display, and connect your display to the DVI Out on the DVI Detective.
2- Plug the 5V power supply into the DVI Detective, once the LED stops blinking the
DVI Detective has fi nished reading the EDID of the display*. After programming you will
not need to use the power supply again (If your source does not output enough power
to drive the DVI FM Sender, powering the DVI Detective will fi x the issue).
3- You can now connect the DVI IN on the DVI Detective into your computer with supplied DVI cable, and plug the DVI FM Sender directly into the DVI Detective's DVI Out.
* If the LED does not stop blinking after 8 seconds of having the power supply
connected, try recording with the monitor on with a picture.

WARRANTY
Gefen Inc. warrants the equipment it manufactures to be free from defects in material
and workmanship.
If equipment fails because of such defects and Gefen Inc. is notifi ed within one (1)
year from the date of shipment, Gefen System will, at its option, repair or replace the
equipment, provided that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical, electrical
or other abuse or modifi cations.
Equipment that fails under conditions other than those covered will be repaired at the
current price of parts and labor in effect at the time of repair. Such repairs are warranted
for ninety (90) days from the day of shipment to the Buyer.
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied, including without
limitation, any implied warranty or merchantability or fi tness for any particular purpose, all
of which are expressly disclaimed.
