Triple Luring Power:
1. The Ultraviolet (UV) lamp generates UV light and heat that attracts mosquitoes and other
pests.
2. A Titanium Dioxide (TiO ) coating inside the unit reacts with the UV light through photo-
catalysis to generate Carbon Dioxide (CO ) - thereby mimicking human/animal breath, which
is also a key mosquito attractant. As the coating acts as a catalyst, it’s not consumed in the
process.
3. A powerful Suction Fan captures attracted insects and traps them in the basket at the bottom
of the unit, where they dehydrate under the airflow and die.
When using electric appliances always observe safety regulations to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock
and personal injury. Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating label on

Ensure children do not play with the appliance or attempt to stick fingers or other objects through the
capture window or the safety grille when the captive cage is removed. Insects should only be cleaned from
the unit while disconnected from the mains supply, with the supplied brush. Never place any object through
the capture window, even if appliance is disconnected from the main supply.

fingers) while it is in motion, or serious injury may occur.
Disconnect the unit from the mains by unplugging it before any cleaning or maintenance is carried out.
WARNING: An electric shock hazard may exist if water from a garden hose is directed at the Insect
Trapper. When using extension cords, keep the socket-outlet away from moisture and avoid damage to the
cord.

LOCATION AND USE
5
The Insect Trapper is best located away from
human activity and hung at a height of
around 2.5 metres (Figure 2). It is
recommended that the appliance be used
continuously when people and pets are
present.
Ensure the unit is placed away from other
light sources (Figure 3). Keep away from the reach of small children or hang using the attached hanging ring. Connect the plug to a suitable power supply, corresponding to that of the appliance, 230VAC 50/60Hz, 15W. For hanging use, an extension cord may be necessary. This appliance is weatherproof and can be left outdoors.
The Insect Trapper is fitted with a daylight (auto on-off) sensor, located on the top of the unit. The sensor is around 75mm from the hanging ring. Ensure the sensor is not obstructed in any way. When hanging the trapper, ensure it has around 300mm clearance from its top and any flat surface above it (for example eaves). Do not hang the unit near other light sources. To activate the Auto On-Off feature, switch the unit to Auto, using the
switch located just below the top of the unit (Figure 4). Switch to On to use the unit
regardless of surrounding light conditions.
Insect Trapper Always check that the appliance is in good working condition and all guards are secure. Check the power supply cord and plug regularly for damage. When not in use or before cleaning, always disconnect the appliance from the mains supply.
Ensure unit is not located near competing light sources min 5 metres recommended.
To ensure Auto Sensor works correctly, allow at least 300mm clearance if hanging below a flat surface
Ideal hanging height 2.5m

Insect disposal and general maintenance
Ensure the trapper unit is disconnected from the mains supply before performing any cleaning or
maintenance.
As it takes time for captured insects to dehydrate and die, there may still be live insects in the basket when
it is detached from the unit. It is recommended that insect disposal be performed during daylight hours as
this is when captured insects will be relatively inactive and doing so will minimise releasing just-captured
insects.
Detach basket at base by twisting it in the anti-clockwise direction (Figure5) and remove it from the trapper
unit. It is recommended that a small sealable plastic bag or small garbage bag which can be tied be used
for the transfer of the basket’s contents, to ensure live insects cannot escape during disposal.
Remove snap-in funnel (Figure 6 & 7) to empty out captured insects from the basket Once emptied, any insect remains or dirt may be removed with the supplied brush, the safety grille at the bottom of the trapper unit may also be cleaned with the brush.
Reassemble the funnel and basket, reposition the basket at the base of the Trapper and twist in a clockwise direction until the basket is locked into position. Ensure the basket is securely fastened to the trapper unit by pulling it lightly.
The Insect Trapper may be wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth, do not use water or solvents to clean any part of the unit. Ensure the unit is completely dry before connection to the mains supply.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long will the TiO2 last?”
Combined with UV light and organic matter left behind from bugs, the TiO2 acts as a catalyst to produce
carbon dioxide (CO2) that helps attract mosquitoes to the insect trapper. The TiO2 will last indefinitely as it is a catalyst and is not consumed in the process.
Does my Gecko unit consume a lot of power and is it expensive to run?”
Power consumption is only 15W and costs less than a couple of cents per hour to run.
“How long will the UV lamp last?”
Gecko lamps should generally last around 5,000 hours. For optimum life, we recommend switching on your unit for at least 4 hours at a time. Shorter durations or frequent switching on and off will shorten the lamp life. Other factors affecting lamp life include excessive heat or cold and a fluctuating electricity supply.
Can I get a replacement lamp?”
Yes, Gecko lamps are available at Bunnings. Part Number is GKOIT550G. In the event your nearest store doesn’t have it in stock, it can be ordered in by the Special Orders desk at that store.
“My Gecko Insect Trapper doesn’t seem to be working”
The UV lamp is a BLB type (dark purple), so when switched on, won’t ever appear very bright.
Check the unit is plugged in and mains power is switched on.
Ensure the unit’s power switch is also on. The power switch is located just below the top cover
If the fan doesn’t appear to be turning, switch off unit, remove catcher basket and ensure there are no large bugs caught near the fan blade. The area around the fan should be cleaned regularly with the supplied brush.
If the fan is functioning and lamp isn’t, unplug unit and replace lamp .
