If You Need Service...
Do not attempt to repair or replace any part

of the downdruft system unless it is specifically
recommended in this manual. All other servicing
should be referred to 6 qualified technician.

Be sure electrical power is off before servicing
the unit.

It may be necessary to remove the downdruft
blower system in order to service components

such us the blower motor or air vent mechanism.
Disconnect power to the cooktop and remove

To use the

downdraft

system

When
using the

downdraft

system...

To raise the downdraft vent, press the ON/OFF
pad on the control. The vent will rise.

All models have a remote mounted control pad.
Press the Fan Speed HIGHERpad to start the

blower. Adjust the blower by pressing HIGHERor
LOWER.The blower, if left on, will automatically

turn off when the vent is lowered.
NOTE:For most convenient operation, set the

blower to the speed you use most often. The
blower will come on to this speed whenever

the unit is raised.
IMPORTANT:The vent can be activated by

pressing the pads on the switch. Do not use
excessive force or sharp objects to activate
the switch. Damage could occur and void
the warranty.

CAUTION: Becarefulwhenraising

or lowering the downdraft. Besure pots, pot
handles and other objects are clear of the
downdraft and cannot be struck or tipped by the
downdraft being raised.

, _ Controls

NOTE:There is a slight trim overhang on each
side of the vent.

, To avoid injury, be sure fingers are clear of the

downdraft cover when it is being lowered.

, Keep hands and fingers away from oil

downdraft parts.

Cooking tips

The high air movement of this downdraft
system can increase the cooking times for some
foods. It may take longer to reach high cooking
temperatures if the downdraft is turned to high
right away. Adjust the fan speed for best cooking

results.

Conning When canning foods in a water-bath canner,

a gentle but steady boil must be maintained
continuously for the required time.

When canning foods in a pressure canner, the
pressure must be maintained continuously for
the required time.

IMPORTANT:If the vent isobstructed by an
object while it is being raised or lowered, it will
stop. Remove the obstruction and press the ON/
OFFpad again.

For best results when heating oil for deep frying
or when boiling water, use the front surface
units or wait until the water is boiling or the oil
is at frying temperatures before turning on the

downdraft.
The downdraft may not completely capture all

the steam from pans on the front burners.

Use of the blower on a high fan speed setting
when canning may reduce the temperature
enough to stop boiling. While canning, we
recommend using the downdraft at a lower
speed and using the front surface unit.

Theefficiency of your downdraft depends on a
clean filter. Frequencyof cleaning depends on the

type of cooking you do.Greasefilters should be
cleaned at least once a month. Never operate the
downdraft without the filters in place.

To remove: Slipfingers into the vent holes, lift the

vent straight up and pull forward. Graspthe filter
tabs, pushdown and out of the retainer.

To clean: Soak and then agitate ina hot detergent

solution.Light brushing may be usedto remove
embedded soil.Rinse,shake and removemoisture

before replacing. Do not clean the filters in the
dishwasher.

With careful handling,the filter will lastfor years.
If replacement becomes necessary,order the part

from your dealer.

Do not use a steel wool pod; it will scratch
the surface.

Toclean the stainless steelsurface, usewarm,
sudsywater or a stainless steelcleaner or polish.

Alwayswipe the surface in the direction of the grain.
Follow the cleaner instructions for cleaning the

stainlesssteel surface.

.The raise/lower pad did not engage the lift motor. Hold down the

pad for a couple of seconds to activate the motor.

.The circuit breaker may have tripped. Check the circuit breaker-

reset if necessary.

. Sufficient makeup (replacement) air is required for exhausting

appliances to operate to rating. Check with local building codes, which
may require or strongly advise the use of makeup air. Visit

Si necesite servicio t_cnico...
No intente reparar o cambiar ninguna pieza del

sistema de ventilaci6n de corriente descendente
a menos que est6 espec[ficamente recomendado

en este manual. Cualquier otto servicio debe
realizarlo un t6cnico calificado.

Asegt_resede cortar la electricidad antes
de efectuar servicio t6cnico en el aparato.

Puede resultar necesario quitar el sistema
de ventilaci6n de corriente descendente para
realizar servicio t@cnicoen componentes tales

como el motor delventilador o el mecanismo
de ventilaci6n de aire.

LEA Y GUARDE ESTAS INSTRUCCIONES

Desconecte la energ[a que alimenta laestufa
y qu[tela en primer t@mino. Invierta los pasos

de la secci6n "C6mo instalar la corriente
descendente" en las Instrucciones de instalaci6n

para quitar el ventilador.
Las piezas para el servicio t6cnico se encuentran

disponibles en el Centro de Servicio T6cnico
y Piezasde GE.

Cuando utilice
el sistema
de corriente
descendente...

Para levantar la ventilaci6n de corriente
descendente, presione el bot6n ON/OFF (encendido/

apagado) del control. La ventilaci6n se elevara.
Todos los modelos cuentan con una almohadilla

de control remota.
Presione el bot6n HIGHER(mas alta) de la velocidad

del ventilador para accionarlo. Ajuste la velocidad del
ventilador presionando HIGHER(m6s alta) o LOWER
(mas baja). Si se Io deja encendido, el ventilador

se apagara automaticamente cuando se baje
la ventilaci6n.

NOTA: Para un funcionamiento mas conveniente,
configure el ventilador a la velocidad que utilice mas

a menudo. Elventilador se accionara a esta velocidad
cuando la unidad se eleve.

IHPORTANTE: La ventilaci6n puede activarse
presionando los botones del interruptor. No ejerza una

fuerza excesiva ni utilice objetos afilados para activar
el interruptor. Pueden producirse daRos que invalidan

la garant[a.

A PRECAUCI6N:Tenga cuidado al

levantar o bajar la corriente descendente. Aseg0rese
de que lascacerolas, las manijas de lascacerolas y

otros objetos se encuentren alejados de la corriente
descendente y que no se golpeen o vuelquen cuando

se la eleve.

NOTA:Hayunapeque_asalienteen cada lado
de la ventilaci6n.

• Para evitar lesiones, mantenga los dedos alejados
de la tapa de la corriente descendiente cuando
se la baje.

Mantenga las manos y los dedos alejados de todas
las piezas de la corriente descendente.

IMPORTANTE:Si la ventilaci6n queda obstruida
con un objeto mientras se la sube o baja, @stase

detendra. Ouite la obstrucci6n y presione de nuevo
el bot6n ON/OFF (encendido/apagado).

Conservas

El elevado movimiento de aire de este sistema de
corriente descendente puede aumentar los tiempos

de cocci6n de algunos alimentos. Puede tomar mas
tiempo alcanzar temperaturas de cocci6n elevadas si

se acciona la corriente descendente en "alta" desde el
comienzo. Para mejores resultados de cocci6n, ajuste

la velocidad del ventilador.
Para mejores resultados cuando caliente aceite para

freir o cuando hierva agua, utilice las unidades de

La eficiencia de suventilaci6n de corriente
descendente depende de la limpiezadelfiltro. La

frecuencia de limpieza depende deltipo decocci6n
que realice.Los filtros de grasa deben limpiarse
por Io menos unavez por mes. Nunca opere la

corriente descendente sin los filtros en su lugar.
Para quitar: Deslicelosdedos en losorificiosde

ventilaci6n y levantela cubierta hacia arriba y
emp0jela hacia adelante. Tome las leng0etas del

filtro, presione hacia abajo y quite de la traba.
Para limpiar: Sumerjay luego agite en una soluci6n

de detergente caliente. Puedeutilizarseun cepillo
suave para quitar la suciedad muy adherida.

Enjuague,agite y quite la humedad antes de volver
a colocar. Nolave losfiltros en el lavavajillas.

Conuna manipulaci6n cuidadosa, elfiltro durara
muchos ahos.Sinecesita reemplazarlo, solicite

el repuesto asu vendedor.

No utilice almohadillas de acero porque rayan
la superficJe.

Para limpiar la superficie de acero inoxidable, utilice
agua tibiajabonosa o un limpiador o lustrador

para acero inoxidable.Siempre limpie la superficie
en direcci6n de laveta. Siga lasinstrucciones

el bot6n durante unos segundos para activar el motor.

Elinterruptor de circuitos puede haber saltado. Verifique el interruptor

de circuitos y reconfigOrelo si fuera necesario.
