To remove:
Lift up tile access door to reach the icemakm:
Set the icemaker power switch to the 0 (off)
position. With the access door closed, support
the storage bin at the bottom while slightly
lifting. Pull bin straight out.
To replace:
Slide tile bin back until the tab on the bin
locks into the slot on the shelf. If the bin
does not go all the way back, remove it and
rotate the drive mechanism 1/4 turn. Then
push the bin back again.
Important
facts about
your ice
& water
dispenser
,* Do not add ice from trays or bags to the
storage bin. It may not crush or dispense well.
, Avoid overfilling glass with ice and use of
narrow or extra-tall glasses. Backed-up ice
can jam tile chute or cause the door in the ,*
chute to freeze shut. If ice is blocking the
chute, poke it through with a wooden spoon. ,*
,* Beverages and foods should not be
quick-chilled in the ice storage bin.
Cans, bottles or food packages in the
storage bin may cause the icemaker
or auger to jam.
. To keep dispensed ice from missing
the glass, put tile glass close to, but not
touching, the dispenser opening.
Some crushed ice may be dispensed even
though you selected CUBES. This happens
occasionally when a few cubes accidentally
get directed to the crusher.
After crushed ice is dispensed, some water
may drip from the chute.
Sometimes a mound of snow will tbrm on
the door in the ice chute. This condition is
normal and usually occurs when you have
dispensed crushed ice repeatedly. The snow
will eventually evaporate.
Dispensed w-ater is not ice cold. For colder
w-ate_,simply add crushed ice or cubes
before dispensing water.
The first glass of water dispensed may be
warmer than the following ones. This is
normal.

Automatic icemaker

Automatic
icemaher
A newlyinstalled refrigerator may take
12-24 hours to begin making ice.
The icemaker will produce seven cubes per
cycle--approximately 15 cycles in a 24-hour
period, depending on freezer compartment
temperature, room temperature, number of"
door openings and other use conditions.
If the refi'igerator is operated befbre the w-ater
connection is made to the icemake_; set the
power switch to O (off).
When the refrigerator has been connected
to the water supply, set the power s,Mtch to
I (on). The green light will come on.
Throw away the first full bucket of ice.
Be sure nothing interferes with the sweep
of the feeler arm.
When the bin fills to the level of the feeler
arm, the icemaker will stop producing ice.
It is normal for several cubes to be joined
togethel:
If ice is not used frequently, old ice cubes
will become cloudy, taste stale and shrink.

Use warm water and baking soda solution--
about a tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda
to a quart (1 liter) ofwaten This both cleans
and neutralizes odors. Thoroughly rinse
and wipe dry.
Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled
dish cloth or wet towel. These may leave
a residue that can damage the finish. Do not
use scouring pads, powdered cleaners, bleach
or cleaners containing bleach because these
products can scratch and damage tbe finish.
Stainless steel Regularly clean and polish
the Stainless Steel Door Panels and Handles

available stainless steel cleaner such as Stainless
SteelMagic TM to preserve and protect the fine
finish. Stainless Steel Magic is available through
GE Parts and Accessories, 800.626.2002, or
GEAppliances.com. Order part number

Other parts of the refrigerator--including
door gaskets, meat and vegetable drawers,
ice storage bin and all plastic parts--can be
cleaned the same w-ay.
Do not wash tim tray or any plastic refi'igerator
parts in tbe dishwashm:
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot water
because the extreme temperature difference
may cause them to break. Handle glass shelves
carefully. Bumping tempered glass can cause it
to shatter.

For long vacations or absences, remove food
and shut off power to the refi'igerator at the
fuse box or circuit breaker. Clean the interior
(see Cleaning Inside). Leave doors open.
Secure all loose items such as grille, shelves
and drawers by taping them securely in place
to prevent damage.
For shorter vacations, remove perishable foods
and leave controls at regular se_tings. Howevm;
if the room temperature is expecmd to drop
below 60°F (16°C), follow the same instructions
as for long vacations.
Set the icemaker power switch to the O (off)
position and be sure to shut off the water
supply to the refrigerator:
