Cleaning
inside
To help prevent odors, leave an open box of baking soda in the refl'igerator and fl'eezer
COUll) ai'tinents.
Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse
box before cloturing. If this is not practical, wring excess inoisture ()tit of sponge or cloth when cleaning around switches, lights or
controls.
Use warnl water and baking soda solution-- about a tablespoon (l 5 ml) of baking soda to a quart (] liter) of water. This both cleans and neutralizes odors. Thoroughly rinse and wipe dry.
Other parts of the refrigerator-including door gaskets, meat and vegetable drawers, ice storage bin and all plastic parts-can be cleaned the same way. ADer cleaning the door gaskets, apply a thin layer of petrolemn .jelly to the door gaskets at the hinge side. This helps kee I) the gaskets from sticking and bending out of shape.
Avoid clemfing cold glass shelves with hot water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break. Handle glass shelves carefully. Rough hmldlh_g of tempered glass can cause it to shatter.
Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts in the dishwasher.

REFRIGERATOR DOES NOT OPERATE
May be in defl'ost cycle when compressor does not operate fi)r about 30 minutes.
Temperature control in the OFF position.
If interior light is not on, refl'igerator may not be plugged in at wall outlet.
The fltse is blown/circuit breaker is trii)i)e(1. Replace fltse or reset the breaker.
MOTOR OPERATES FOR LONG PERIODS OR CYCLES ON AND
OFF FRFQUENTLY
(Modern refrigerators with more storage space mad a larger
freezer require more operating time. They start and stop
often to maintain even temperatures.)
Normal when refl'igerator is first ph,gged in. Wait 24 hours fl)r tile
refrigerator to completely cool down,
Tile new variable speed compressor is designed to ttm for longer periods of time to optimize efliciencv and noise. You may notice tile
compressor and/or tim speeds accelerate based upon door openings and/or increased food loads.
You may hear the rims spinning at high speeds. This hal)pens when the refl'igerator is first plugged in, when the doors are opened
fl'equently or when a large amount of tood is added to the refrigerator or fl'eezer compartments. Tile rims are helping to
maintain tile correct temperatures.
Door left open or package holding door open.
If either door is open for over 3 minutes, you may hear tile rims come on in order to cool the light.
Hot weather or frequent (loot" openings. This is normal.
Temperature controls set at tile coldest setting. See Temperature
ControLs.
OPERATING SOUNDS
Refl_igerator is so quiet, that most of tile time wm will hear low or no operating noise.
Normal tim air flow--one tim blows cold air through tile fl'esh tood and fl'eezer compartments--another tim cools
the COilll)i'esso I" Ill otor. Tile rims change speeds in order to provide optimal cooling and
energy savings. These NORMAl. sounds will also be heard fl'om time to time:
You may hear a whooshing or gurgling sound when tile doors
close. This is due to pressure equalizing within tile refrigerator.
A water dripping noise may occm" during tile defl'ost cycle as ice
melts ti'om tile evaporator and flows into the drain pan.
Tile flow of refl'igerant through tile fl'eezer cooling coils may
make a gurgling noise like boiling water.
_,\'ater dropping on tile defl'ost heater can cause a sizzling,
i)oi)ping or buzzing so/ind during tile defrost cvcle.
You may hear cracking or poi)ping sounds when tile refl'igerator is
first plugged in or dm'ing/atier tile defl'ost cycle. This hal)pens as tile refl'igerator cools to tile correct temperature.
Electronic dampers click open and closed to provide optimal
cooling and energy savings.
Tile compressor may cause a clicking or chiq)ing sound when attempting to restart (this could take up to 5 minutes).
The electronic control board may cause a clicking sound when
relaxls activate to control retiJgerator COilll)onents. Ice cubes dropping into tile bin and water running in pipes
as icemaker refills. The icemaker water wflve will buzz when the icemaker fills
with water.
