GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS TOWN AND COUNTRY LUMINAIRES
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The traditional, colonial-design luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be a GE TOWN and COUNTRY luminaire, consist­ing of ordering number _______ (specify T10C or T10R) post top luminaire, ordering number _______ (specify T10C or T10R, plus ordering number logic from catalog), or equivalent, to operate one _______ (specify [50, 70, 100 or 150(55V)} watt high pres­sure sodium [HPS], 175 watt metal halide or [100 or 175] watt mercury) lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 240, 277, 347 or 480) volt , 60 Hertz power source and shall be ca­pable of starting and operating the specified lamp within the limits specified by the lamp manufacturer. The luminaire shall contain a completely prewired integral ballast and an optical assembly that shall provide an IES Distribution Type _______ (specify [MS5, SS4 or SS5] for T10C, [MS2, MS3 or SS4] for T10R according to photometric selection table in catalog). The lumi­naire can be UL/cUL Listed SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS when polycarbon­ate resin lens type is used with “U” option. Standard construc­tion is IP54. Ballast, housing, optical and luminaire assembly shall all be from the same manufacturer.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The luminaire shall include a die-cast aluminum housing and canopy with a _______ (specify black [standard], dark bronze or gray) paint finish. Canopy shall be hinged on one side and secured on opposite side with captive stainless steel screw or optional stainless steel spring latch. Luminaire with latch in­cludes terminal board.
The luminaire shall include a ballast , lens, cast slipfitter suitable for 3-inch (76 mm) OD tenon and corrosion-resistant hardware. (The luminaire may have an optional prewired photoelectric control [internal for pendant mounted only] or no-tool recep­tacle with separate PE control.)
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
The optical assembly shall include a _______ (specify acrylic or polycarbonate resin) refractor, and shall contain a mogul base E39 socket with superior lamp gripping. The socket shall have added insulation, giving it the ability to handle the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems.
T10R The T10R shall have an internal hydroformed aluminum reflec-
tor with a chemically bonded and lightweight ALGLAS mounted in canopy to provide roadway lighting distribution patterns.

BALLAST OPERATION
The luminaire shall have a _______ (specify) ballast*. The plug­in type ignitor (for HPS only) and ballast shall be prewired to the lamp socket requiring connection of power supply leads only. The ballast shall be in full compliance with lamp-ballast speci­fications available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture manufacture.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient temperatures down to -20°F for mercury and metal halide and
-40°F for HPS.
