SALEM TM LUMINAIRE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The traditional, colonial-design luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be a GE SALEMTM luminaire, ordering number _______ (specify TR1C, TR1R or TRCR, plus ordering number logic from catalog), or equivalent , to operate one _______ (specify [50, 70, 100 or 150(55V)] watt high pressure sodium [HPS], or 175 watt coated metal halide or [100 or 175] watt coated mercury [TR1C or TR1R only]) lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 240, 277, 347 or 480) volt, 60 Hertz power source and shall be capable of starting and operating the specified lamp within the limits specified by the lamp man­ufacturer. The luminaire shall contain a completely prewired in­tegral ballast and an optical assembly that shall provide an IES Distribution Type _______ (specify MS5, SS4, SS5 [TR1C]; MS2, MS3, SS3 [TR1R]; or MC2, SC2 [TRCR]) according to photometric selection table in catalog). The luminaire shall be UL/cUL Listed SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS when polycarbonate refractor is used and “U” option is chosen. Standard construction is IP54. Ballast, housing, optical and luminaire assembly shall all be from the same manufacturer.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The luminaire shall include a die-cast aluminum housing in two sections and hinged canopy, with stainless steel latch for no­tool relamping, socket mounted for base-up lamp operation (TR1C) or horizontal lamp operation (TR1R, TRCR), removable re­fractor panels (TR1C, TR1R) or permanently fixed flat glass lens (TRCR) and a prewired terminal board with plug-in type ignitor (HPS lamps only), ballast (and optional prewired photoelectric receptacle). Housing shall have a _______ (specify black [stan­dard], dark bronze or gray) paint finish.
BALLAST OPERATION
The luminaire shall contain a standard _______ (specify) bal­last*. The terminal board, ballast and plug-in ignitor (HPS lamps only) shall be prewired to the lamp socket requiring connection of power supply leads only. The ballast shall be in full compli­ance with lamp-ballast specifications available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture manufacture.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambi­ent temperatures down to -20°F for mercury and metal halide (TR1C, TR1R) and -40°F for HPS.
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
The optical assembly shall include _______ (specify acrylic, white polycarbonate resin refractor panels [may be UL1572 Listed SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS and CSA Certified (TR1C, TR1R only)], or cutoff reflector with clear flat glass [TRCR only]), and mogul base E39 socket with superior lamp gripping. The socket shall have added insulation, giving it the ability to han­dle the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems. The optical assembly may include a photoelectric control receptacle.
