GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS SBF ®/SBN POWERFLOOD ® FLOODLIGHT
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The floodlight designated _______ (identify) shall be a GE _______ (specify SBF® or SBN [depending on wide (SBF) or narrow (SBN) beam optical performance]) POWERFLOOD® floodlight, ordering number _______ (specify SBF, SBN, plus ordering number logic from catalog) or approved equal, for operation of one _______ (specify [35, 50, 70, 100 or 150(55V)] watt high pressure sodium [HPS] or [70, 100 or 175] watt metal halide) medium-base lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 240, 277, 347 or 480) volt , 60 Hertz power source and shall be capable of starting and operating the specified lamp within the limits specified by the lamp manufacturer. The floodlight shall contain a completely prewired integral ballast and optical assembly with 6X6 (SBF) or 3X4 (SBN) NEMA type beam spread (horizontal X vertical). The floodlight shall be UL/cUL Listed SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS. Standard construction is IP55. Ballast, housing, optical and luminaire assembly shall all be from the same manufacturer.
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The floodlight shall include a die-cast aluminum housing, integral ballast , optical assembly with socket and bottom-hinged front access door. It shall have a 1/2-inch ID threaded swivel mounting, degree marked and fully adjustable. All hardware shall be corrosion-resistant. All die-cast aluminum surfaces shall have a dark bronze electrocoat paint finish.
The optical assembly shall include a vertically mounted (standard) medium base socket with designated lamp, on a formed aluminum reflector with either a wide beam or narrow beam light distribution and heat/impact-resistant tempered flat door glass. The optical reflector assembly may be rotated 90o (field adjustable) to attain a horizontally mounted lamp and socket. The reflector shall have an Alzak✝ finish on all surfaces. An optional field installable photoelectric control is available.
BALLAST OPERATION
All electrical components shall be mounted on the housing. The floodlight shall contain a standard _______ (specify Auto-Reg [for 175-watt metal halide] or Reactor type with NPF or HPF power factor circuit [for all others]) ballast* in full compliance with lamp-ballast specifications available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture manufacture.
As an option a multivolt ballast with the capability of operating the lamp on a power supply of any of four voltages — 120, 208, 240 or 277; or a dual (120X347) voltage ballast may be specified.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient temperatures down to -20
o
F for metal halide or -40oF for HPS.
