SBF® Wide Beam Floodlight
SBN Narrow Beam Floodlight
With HID Medium Base Socket
GENERAL
This floodlight has been designed for use in outdoor
applications and should not be installed in areas of limited
ventilation or in high ambient temperature enclosures. Best
results will be obtained if installed and maintained
according to the following recommendations.
UNPACKING
This luminaire has been packed so that no parts should
have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm.
INSTALLATION

This floodlight is provided with a pre-wired 1/2-inch
NPT threaded swivel fitting for mounting to standard
wiring boxes or conduit (locknuts not provided). Contact
your local GE electrical distributor for information regarding availability of accessories for other mounting options;
cross-arm mounting adaptor, flat surface adaptor for
mounting over 4-inch J-box, swivel/slipfitter adaptor for
mounting on 1-1/2-inch to 2- inch pipe and trunnion
mounting adaptor (threaded portion of swivel fitting must
be removed to install trunnion adaptor).

MOUNTED IN THE ORIENTATION SHOWN ABOVE.
DO NOT MOUNT OR OPERATE IN AN INVERTED
POSITION SUCH THAT LAMP IS OPERATING IN A
BASE-UP ORIENTATION AS WATER CAN ENTER
THE FIXTURE IF OPERATED IN A WET ENVIRON-
MENT.

NOTE: REMOVE SCREWS FROM WEEP HOLES IN
BACK OF THE FIXTURE WHEN FLOODLIGHT IS
AIMED UP (ABOVE HORIZONTAL). FAILURE TO DO
SO COULD RESULT IN WATER BEING TRAPPED
INSIDE FIXTURE.
Use only lamps specified on nameplate. Observe
lamp manufacturer’s recommendations and restrictions on lamp operation, particularly ballast type,
burning position, etc.

Lamp Tightness – Medium Base Lamp: The lamp
should be tightened to a light firmness sufficient to
depress the center contact.
AIMING LIMITATIONS FOR METAL HALIDE UNITS
CAUTION: FOR METAL HALIDE VERSIONS OF THE
SBF WITH PHOTOCONTROLS AIMING IS RESTRICTED BELOW 45 DEGREES. AIMING MORE
THAN 45 DEGREES BELOW HORIZONTAL MAY
LEAD TO OVERHEATING OF FIXTURE COMPONENTS, VOIDING UL LISTINGS AND
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.

• Do not touch operating luminaire
It will occasionally be necessary to clean the luminaire to
maintain light level. Frequency of cleaning will depend on
ambient dirt level and minimum light level which is
acceptable to user. Lens door should be washed in a
solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water and wiped dry.
Should optical assembly become dirty on inside, wipe
reflector and clean lens door in above manner and replace
any damaged gasket.
Make all electrical connections in accordance with
the National Electrical Code and any applicable
local code requirements.
Verify that supply voltage is correct by comparing it
to nameplate.
Do not remove insulated connectors from wires not
needed for required voltage connection.
When changing voltage on reconnectable units,
move only the lead with the insulated connector.
IF SINGLE VOLTAGE:
All single voltage ballasts are pre-wired such that
user need only connect the supply conductors.
IF MULTIVOLT: (120/208/240/277 volts)
Connect the ballast lead with the insulated terminal
to the desired voltage terminal as indicated on the
ballast terminal nameplate.
IF MULTIWATT:
Multiwatt ballasts are available in various combinations of wattage. See wiring instructions on wiring
tag inside the luminaire.

Ces luminaires sont conçus pour fournir un éclairage à l’extérieur,
et ne doivent pas être utilisé dans des zones à ventilation limitée ou
sous des températures ambiantes élevées. Les meilleurs résultats sont
obtenus avec une installation et un entretien conformes aux
recommandations qui suivent.
DÉBALLAGE
Le luminaire a été emballé correctement de façon à ce qu’aucune
de ses pièces ne soit endommagée pendant son transport. Veuillez
procéder à une vérification pour le confirmer.

Cet éclairage est fourni avec un dispositif précâblé à rotule au
filetage NPT de 1/2 pouce pour montage sur une boîte de
raccordement standard ou une conduite (les écrous freinés ne sont pas
fournis). Contactez votre concessionnaire local d'électricité GE pour
des informations sur les possibilités d'accessoires permettant des
options de montage différentes par adaptateurs pour montages : sur
traverse, sur surface plane avec une boîte en J de 4 pouces, de type
rotule à emboîtage sur tuyauterie de 1 1/2 à 2 pouces, sur pivot (la
partie filetée de l'adaptation par rotule doit être enlevée pour installer
l'adaptateur à pivot).

L'ÉCLAIRAGE EST DIRIGÉ VERS LE HAUT (AU
DESSUS DE L'HORIZONTALE). SINON DE L'EAU
POURRAIT RESTER PRISONNIÈRE À L'INTÉRIEUR.
N’utilisez que le type de lampe spécifié sur la plaque
d’identification. Observez les recommandations et restrictions
du fabricant sur le fonctionnement de la lampe, en particulier
pour le type de ballast, la position d’utilisation, etc
.
MONO-TENSION :
Tous les ballasts sont précâblés et l'utilisateur n'a qu'à relier
les fils d'alimentation pour la tension prévue.
MULTI-TENSIONS : (120/208/240/277 volts)
Reliez le fil de ballast avec sa terminaison isolée sur la borne
de tension adéquate comme indiqué sur la plaque du ballast.
MULTI-PUISSANCES :
Les ballasts multi-puissances sont disponibles en diverses
combinaisons de wattages. Reportez-vous aux instructions de
câblage sur l'étiquette à l'intérieur du luminaire.
Serrage d'ampoule – Culot moyen : L'ampoule doit être
serrée avec une fermeté non excessive suffisant pour enfoncer le
contact central dans la douille.

Il sera nécessaire à l'occasion de nettoyer le luminaire pour
maintenir le niveau d'éclairage. La fréquence de ces nettoyages
dépend du niveau d'empoussièrage local et du seuil minimum de
luminosité acceptable pour l'utilisateur. La porte objectif doit être
lavée avec une solution d'eau chaude et de n'importe quel
détergent ménager doux et non abrasif, rincée à l'eau claire puis
séchée par essuyage. Si l'assemblage optique devenait sale à
l'intérieur, nettoyez le réflecteur et l'intérieur de la porte objectif
de la même façon et remplacez tout joint détérioré.
Réalisez toutes les connexions électriques en conformité avec
les normes nationales en vigueur et tous les réglements
locaux applicables.
Vérifiez que la tension secteur disponible est la bonne en
comparant avec l'indication de tension sur la plaque
d'identification.
N'enlevez pas les connecteurs isolés des fils non concernés
par le raccordement de la tension.
En changeant la tension des unités reconfigurables, ne bougez
que le fil avec la cosse isolée.
