Theadvantageofafullbackupisthatyoucanrestorethedatabasesusingasingle
backupinsteadofaseriesofdifferentialorincrementalbackups.Thedisadvantage
ofafullbackupisthatitrequiresmorestoragespacethanadifferentialor
incrementalbackup.Becausethebackupjobcreatessevensetsofbackups(one
foreachdayoftheweek),thedestinationdriveforthebackupsmustbeatleast
seventimesgreaterthanthecombinedsizeofthedatabases.Forexample,ifthe
MUSEdatabasestotalled20GB,thedestinationdrivewouldneedtobeatleast140
GB(7x20GB)toholdafullseven-daybackupcycle.
•Savesthebackuptoalocalfolderandthencopiesittoanetworkshare.

thisbehaviorintwoways:
•First,youcanmodifythewayinwhichthebackuplesarecopiedtothenetwork
drivebysettingtheCOPYOPTIONparametertooneofthefollowingvalues:
•MIRROR-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe
networkshare,leavingtheoriginalsonthelocaldrive.Thisprovidesafullset
ofbackupsonboththelocaldriveandthenetworkshare.
•MIRRORSOME-Copiesadenednumberofbackupsetsfromthelocaldrive
tothenetworkshare,leavingthedenednumberoforiginalsonthelocal
driveandremovingtheremainder.Thisprovidesapartialsetofbackupson
thelocaldriveandafullsetofbackupsonthenetworkshare.
Todenethenumberofrecordstoretainonthelocaldrive,setthe
LOCALDAYSTOMAINTAINparameterwithanumberfrom1to7.Forexample,
settingLOCALDAYSTOMAINTAIN=3retainsthethreemostrecentnightly
backupsonthelocaldrive.
•MOVE-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe
networkshareandremovestheoriginalsfromthelocaldrive.Thisprovides

•Second,youcanchangethelocationofthenetworksharewherethebackups
willbecopied.
•Attemptstoreconnectifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted.
Thebackupjobusestherobocopycommandtocopyormovethebackuplesfrom
thelocaldirectorytothenetworkshare.Ifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted
duringthetransfer,robocopynoteswherethecopystopped,attemptstoreconnect
tothenetwork,andresumesthetransfer.
