runningtheMUSEdatabasesislocatedonaseparateserver.InasimpleMUSE

IftheMUSEsystemisusingaremoteMUSEdatabase,theMUSEapplicationserver

Listensforincomingconnections.ForMUSE,theseincomingconnectionsoriginate
attheMUSEapplicationserver.SQLassignsTCPport1433asthelisteningport

canchangethisport.WhenusinganamedinstanceofSQL,SQLassignsadynamic

ThemonitorserverserviceusesUDPport1434,whichallowsadministratorsand
userstocheckthestatusoftheSQLdatabases.Likethelisteningportdescribed
previously,thecustomercanassignthisportadifferentportnumberforincreased

IftheMUSEapplicationserverishavingproblemscommunicatingwiththedatabase,

recoveryplans.Customer-implementedbackupplansarenotcoveredbyapplicable
warrantiesorserviceagreements;however,GEHealthcareServicecanstillassistin

Thenightlybackupjob,7Nightly_Backups,doesthefollowing:

Thelesarenamedbycombiningthedayoftheweekwiththenameofthe

Thisresultsinsevensetsofbackuples.Eachleoverwritesthecorrespondingle
fromthepreviousweek.

•PerformsafullbackupofalltheMUSEdatabases.
Theadvantageofafullbackupisthatyoucanrestorethedatabasesusingasingle
backupinsteadofaseriesofdifferentialorincrementalbackups.Thedisadvantage
ofafullbackupisthatitrequiresmorestoragespacethanadifferentialor
incrementalbackup.Becausethebackupjobcreatessevensetsofbackups(one
foreachdayoftheweek),thedestinationdriveforthebackupsmustbeatleast
seventimesgreaterthanthecombinedsizeofthedatabases.Forexample,ifthe
MUSEdatabasestotalled20GB,thedestinationdrivewouldneedtobeatleast140
GB(7x20GB)toholdafullseven-daybackupcycle.

•Savesthebackuptoalocalfolderandthencopiesittoanetworkshare.
Youcaneditthescriptle,7Nightly_Backups_NetCopyScript.bat,tocustomize
thisbehaviorintwoways:

•First,youcanmodifythewayinwhichthebackuplesarecopiedtothenetwork

drivebysettingtheCOPYOPTIONparametertooneofthefollowingvalues:

•MIRROR-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe
networkshare,leavingtheoriginalsonthelocaldrive.Thisprovidesafullset
ofbackupsonboththelocaldriveandthenetworkshare.

•MIRRORSOME-Copiesadenednumberofbackupsetsfromthelocaldrive
tothenetworkshare,leavingthedenednumberoforiginalsonthelocal
driveandremovingtheremainder.Thisprovidesapartialsetofbackupson
thelocaldriveandafullsetofbackupsonthenetworkshare.
Todenethenumberofrecordstoretainonthelocaldrive,setthe
LOCALDAYSTOMAINTAINparameterwithanumberfrom1to7.Forexample,
settingLOCALDAYSTOMAINTAIN=3retainsthethreemostrecentnightly
backupsonthelocaldrive.

•MOVE-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe
networkshareandremovestheoriginalsfromthelocaldrive.Thisprovides
onlyonesetofbackupsonthenetworkshare.

•Second,youcanchangethelocationofthenetworksharewherethebackups
willbecopied.

•Attemptstoreconnectifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted.
Thebackupjobusestherobocopycommandtocopyormovethebackuplesfrom
thelocaldirectorytothenetworkshare.Ifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted
duringthetransfer,robocopynoteswherethecopystopped,attemptstoreconnect
tothenetwork,andresumesthetransfer.
