ItisimpossibleforanyonetoaccesstheMUSEsystembycallingintoafaxmodem. Whensettingupafaxmodem,determiningtheappropriatelocationisimportant
regardingfaxmodemlocationrelativetoareacodes.Forinstance,aremotehospital sharingthesameMUSEserver,faxingrecordslocally,wouldbebetterservedby addingafaxmodemonalocalcomputertoreducephonecosts.
Therearenoassociatedsecurityriskswiththismodemsinceitdoesnotaccept incomingcallsandcannotaccesstheMUSEsystem.

Listensforincomingconnections.ForMUSE,theseincomingconnectionsoriginate attheMUSEapplicationserver.SQLassignsTCPport1433asthelisteningport whenthedefaultinstanceofSQLisused.Ifthecustomerwantsaddedsecurity,they canchangethisport.WhenusinganamedinstanceofSQL,SQLassignsadynamic port,whichthedatabaseadministrator(DBA)canchangetoaknownxedport.
SQLMonitorServer
ThemonitorserverserviceusesUDPport1434,whichallowsadministratorsand userstocheckthestatusoftheSQLdatabases.Likethelisteningportdescribed previously,thecustomercanassignthisportadifferentportnumberforincreased security.

TheMUSEbackupoptionsaresetfortheSimpleRecoveryModel.Customerswho requireaFullRecoveryModel(sothattheyhavetransactionlogsthatprovidethe abilitytorecovertoaspecicpointintime)needtoimplementtheirownbackupand recoveryplans.Customer-implementedbackupplansarenotcoveredbyapplicable warrantiesorserviceagreements;however,GEHealthcareServicecanstillassistin thesecasesonatime-and-materialbasis.

Thisresultsinsevensetsofbackuples.Eachleoverwritesthecorrespondingle fromthepreviousweek.
PerformsafullbackupofalltheMUSEdatabases. Theadvantageofafullbackupisthatyoucanrestorethedatabasesusingasingle backupinsteadofaseriesofdifferentialorincrementalbackups.Thedisadvantage ofafullbackupisthatitrequiresmorestoragespacethanadifferentialor incrementalbackup.Becausethebackupjobcreatessevensetsofbackups(one foreachdayoftheweek),thedestinationdriveforthebackupsmustbeatleast seventimesgreaterthanthecombinedsizeofthedatabases.Forexample,ifthe MUSEdatabasestotalled20GB,thedestinationdrivewouldneedtobeatleast140 GB(7x20GB)toholdafullseven-daybackupcycle.
Savesthebackuptoalocalfolderandthencopiesittoanetworkshare. Youcaneditthescriptle,7Nightly_Backups_NetCopyScript.bat,tocustomize thisbehaviorintwoways:
•First,youcanmodifythewayinwhichthebackuplesarecopiedtothenetwork
drivebysettingtheCOPYOPTIONparametertooneofthefollowingvalues:
MIRROR-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe networkshare,leavingtheoriginalsonthelocaldrive.Thisprovidesafullset ofbackupsonboththelocaldriveandthenetworkshare.
MIRRORSOME-Copiesadenednumberofbackupsetsfromthelocaldrive tothenetworkshare,leavingthedenednumberoforiginalsonthelocal driveandremovingtheremainder.Thisprovidesapartialsetofbackupson thelocaldriveandafullsetofbackupsonthenetworkshare. Todenethenumberofrecordstoretainonthelocaldrive,setthe LOCALDAYSTOMAINTAINparameterwithanumberfrom1to7.Forexample, settingLOCALDAYSTOMAINTAIN=3retainsthethreemostrecentnightly backupsonthelocaldrive.
MOVE-Copiesthenightlydatabasebackupsfromthelocaldrivetothe networkshareandremovestheoriginalsfromthelocaldrive.Thisprovides onlyonesetofbackupsonthenetworkshare.
•Second,youcanchangethelocationofthenetworksharewherethebackups willbecopied.
Attemptstoreconnectifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted. Thebackupjobusestherobocopycommandtocopyormovethebackuplesfrom thelocaldirectorytothenetworkshare.Ifthenetworkconnectionisinterrupted duringthetransfer,robocopynoteswherethecopystopped,attemptstoreconnect tothenetwork,andresumesthetransfer.

Theprocedureforinstallingthenetworkbackupjobsandtheprocedureforinstalling thetapebackupjobsarenearlyidentical.Theonlydifferencebetweenthemisthe nameandlocationofthelestoinstall.Thatdifferenceisnotedwhereapplicable.
NOTE:
