Defrosting Tips
Foodsfrozenin paper or plastic can be
defrosted inthe package.Closedpackages
should beslit, piercedor vented AFTERfood
has partially defrosted. Plasticstorage
containersshould bepartially uncovered.
Family-size,prepackagedfrozen
dinners can bedefrosted and microwaved.
If the food isin a foil container, transfer
it to a microwave-safe dish.
Youmay change the defrost time at any time
during defrosting by turning the dial.
Power level isautomatically setat 3, but can
be changed. You can defrost smallitems
quickly by raising the power levelafter
entering the time. Power level 7cuts the total
defrosting time in about half;power level10
cuts the total time to approximately 1/3.
However,food will needmore frequent
attention than usual.
A dull thumping noise may be heard during
defrosting.Thisisnormal when oven isnot
operating at High power.
Beverage (Do not use the shelves when
microwave cooking.)
TheBeverage feature heats beveragesfrom
6 to 12ounces.
Foodsthat spoil easily should not be
allowed to sit out for more than one hour
after defrosting. Roomtemperature
promotes the growth of harmful bacteria.
Formore even defrosting of larger foods,
such as roasts,useAuto Defrost. Besure
large meats are completely defrosted
before cooking.
When defrosted, food should be cool
but softened inall areas. If stillslightly icy,
return to the microwave very briefly,or let
it stand a few minutes.
Somemodels includea defrost rack, If you
have a defrost rack, place it ontop of the
turntable and the food item onthe rack for
best results.
Drinksheatedwith the Beverage feature mog
be verghot. Removethe container with care.
PotcIto (Do not use the shelves when
microwave cooking.)
ThePotato feature allows you to cook
I to 3potatoes at a time at 8-10 oz.each.
