When usingyour hood.. .
e
Due to the hood fan drawing power, special caution is needed to avoid spreading
of possible flame from the cooking surface of your range.
o
Never leave surface units unattendedat high heat settings. Boilover causes
smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite and spread if hood is used. Use
surface unit heat settings recommendedby manufacturerand adequate-size
utensils.
e
When flaming foods under the hood, turn the fan off. The fan, if operating, may
spread the flame.
e
Never use your cooking appliance for warming or heating the room. The elec-
trical wiring of your range hood may not withstand the resulting excessive heat.
e
Keep hood and grease filters clean according to instructions to maintain good
venting and to avoid grease fires.
e
DO i’JOT USE WATER ON GREASE FIRES. NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN.
Smother flaming pan on surface unit by covering pan completely with well fitting
lid, cookie sheet or flat tray, and, IF YOU CAN DO SO WITHOUTGETTING
BURNED,immediatelyturn “OFF” the surface unit switch and recirculating
hood. It there is a danger of being burned, wait until AFTER flame has been
reduced.
Flaming grease outside pan can be extinguished by baking soda or, if available,,a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam type extinguisher.

Filters become soiled over a period of time. The efficiencyof your recirculating hood dependson how clean the filtersare. Frequency of cleaningor replacingdepends on the type
of cooking you do. BUT FILTERS SHOULD BE CLEANED AT LEAST ONCE A
MONTH. NEVER OPERATE HOOD WITHOUT FILTERS IN PLACE.
TO REMOVE GREASE FILTER, graspknob or handleon filter, push to left and pull down.
(See diagram.)
—
TO CLEAN, soak, then agitate filter in hot detergent solution. Do not use ammonia or
other alkaline material because metal or filter will darken. Light brushing may be used
to remove imbedded soil. Rinse, shake and remove moisture before replacing. With careful handling the filter will last for years. If replacement becomes necessary, order part
number WB2X2158 from your dealer.

should be replacedwhen it is no longer effective, about 6 to 24 months depending on hood

in the TOP frame slot on the left hand side of the opening. Push to the left and upward
into place allowing the filter to slideback to the right and to lock into place in the frame.
e Metal (grease) filter should be returned to hood in the same manner as above, but in
the LOWER frame.
e HOOD body will become dusty and gTeaseladen over a period of time. Clean grease
laden surfacesof the hood frequently, especially the filters.Use warm detergent solution.
About 1 tablespoon of ammoniamaybe added to the water and WITH CARE NOT TO
COME IN CONTACT WITH FILTERS AND OTHER NON-ENAMELEDSURFACES, the hood shell can be washed, rinsed then dried with a soft cloth.
CAUTION: BE CERTAIN when cleaning hood surfaces you do not touch lamp bulb
with moist hands or cloth. A warm or hot lamp bulb may break if touched with a moist
surface.ALWAYS let kunp cool COMPLETELY before cleaning around it.
