USEOFEXTENSIONCORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the
use of an extension cord.
However; if you must use an extension cord, it is absolutely necessary that it be a UL-listed (in tile United
States) or a CSA-listed (in Canada), 3-wire gro/mding type appliance extension cord having a gro/mding
t}l)e plug and outlet and that tile electrical rating of tile cord be 15 amperes (minim urn) and 120 volts.

Donot, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For

The power cord of this appliance is equipped
with a 3-prong (gromMing) plug which mates
with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to
minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard
fi'om this appliance.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a
qualNed electridan to make sure the outlet is
properly gmtmded.
Where a standard 2-prong wall outlet is
encotmtered, it is yore" personal responsibilit)' and
obligation to have it replaced with a propedy
grotmded 3-prong wall outlet.
The refligerator should al_z_ys be plugged into its
own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage
rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best pe_l'imnance and also

power cord. Mways grip plug firefly and pull

Repair or replace immediately all power cords that

use a cord that sho_vs cracks or abrasion damage
along its length or at either end.

USEOFADAPTERPLUGS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the
use of an adapter plug.
However; if you must use an adapte_; where local
codes pemfit, a temporary connection may be made
to a properly grotmded 2-prong wall outlet by use
of a UI Aisted adapter available at most local
hardware stores.
The larger slot in the adapter must be aligned Mth
the larger slot in the _;fll outlet to provide proper
polarity in the connection of the power cord.
When (lisc(mnecting the power cord fl'om the
a(lapte_; always hold the adapter in place with one
hand while pulling the power cord plug with the
other hand. If this is not done, the adapter grotmd
temfinal is ve_' likely to break with repeated use.

Aboutthe controlon the refrigerator,
The temperature control on your refrigerator regulates the
temperature in the fresh food and freezer compartments.
Initially set the control at COLD.
OFF
after each adjustment for the refrigerator to reach the
temperature you set.
Adjust the control one increment at a time, and allow 12hours
COLDEST
ControlSettings
The temperature control maintains the
temperature in both the fl'esh fi)od and fl'eezer
c()mpartments. Setting the control at COOLis the
wam_est setting. Setting the control at COLDEST
is the coldest setting. Moving the control to
the OFF position stops cooling in both areas--
fl'esh food and fl'eeze_but does not shut off
power to the refl_igeratot;

Fruit and Vegetable Drawer
This storage drawer provide space to store fl'uits,
vegetables and meats.
The drawer has a divider to separate meats and
vegetables. The divider can be removed if a single
large storage space is needed.
The drawer Mll stop heft)re coming all the way
out of the refllgerator to help prevent contents
fl'om spilling onto the flora: It can be removed
easily by lifting up slightly and pulling past the
"stop" position.
To replace the drawer and the cover above it, the
door must be flflly opened. In some installations,
the reliigerator ma)' have to be moved away fl'om
the wall fi)r the door to be flflly opened.

To release ice cubes, turn the tray upside
down, hold it oxer a container and twist
both ends.
Icemaker Accessory Kit (Model12only)
An icemaker accessory kit is available
from your dealer. Check the back oI the

needed fin" w_ur model.
Water Supply Kits (Model12only)
Kits containing copper ml)ing, sh utofl \;five,
fittings and instructions needed to connect
the icemaker to your cold water line are
available at extra cost fl'om your dealer or

Cleaning the Outside
Keep the outside clean. Wipe with a clean

Cleaning the Inside
Tohelp prevent odors, leave an open box of
baking soda in the fl'esh food and fi'eezer
COIIII)_I I'tl//e nts.
Unplugthe refrigerator before cleaning. K this
is not practical, wring excess moisture out
of sponge or cloth when cleaning around
switches, lights or controls.
Use w:mn water and baking soda solution--
about a tablespoon (l 5 ml) of baking soda
to a quart (l liter) of water: This both cleans
and neutralizes odot_. Pdnse and wipe dry.
Other parts of the reiiJgeratot_incltMing
door gaskets, fl'uit and vegetable (h'awe_,
and all plastic parts---can be cleaned the
SalIle wax,'.
Protect the paint finish. The finish on the
outside _ffthe refrigerator is a high quali_:,
baked-on paint finish, With proper care, it
will stay ne_qooking and rust flee for vem_.
Apply a coat of kitchen/ai)pliance wax
when the reti_igerator is new, and then
at least twice a veto;
Defrost waterpan. The non-removable pan
is located under the compressor at the rear
_ff the refrigerator. It should be cleaned at
least once a yeax: Move the refrigerator
out from the wall as tin" as necessary, and
tml)lug the power cord from the wall outlet.
i,et the compressor cool before cleaning
the pan. Use a clean cloth or sponge
dampened in warn/water and baking soda
solution---_me tablespoon (15 ml) cffbaking
soda to a quart (l liter) of water: Do not use
cleansing powders, abrasive cleaners, bleach
or cleaners containing chlorides.
Do not wash angplastic refwerator parts in the
dishwasher
Mter cleaning the door gaskets, apply a thin
layer of petroleum jelly to the door gaskets
at the hinge side. This helps kee I) the
gaskets fl'om sticking and bending out of
shape. Do not use cleansing powde_ or
other abrasive cleane_.
Behind the Refrigerator
Once a yem; move the retiJgerator out and
\:_ctmm the back coils. Be careflfl when
moving the refi_igerator away ti'om the wall.
MI types of floor coverings can be damaged,
particularly cushioned coverings and those
with embossed stmthces.
Pull the refl_igerator straight out and return
it to position by pushing it straight in.
Moving the reli_igerator in a side direction
may result in damage to the floor covering
or reflJgeratoi:
Whenpushing therefrigerator back,makesure you
don't rofl over thepower cord.
