trays.Thensetthetemperature controldialtothe “OFF”position anddiscomectpowertothefreezer.
Leavethefreezerdooropenuntil defrostingiscompleted.Remove the defrostedwaterwithasponge
asitcollectsontheshelves.Also removeiceasitismelting.Donot allowwatertostandontheshelves orbottomofthefreezer.
Afterdefrosting,cleantheinterior. Thenturnthetemperaturecontrol
tothedesiredsetting.
Afteroperatingtemperaturehas beenreached,returnfoodandice
traystothefreezer.

Unplugandemptythefreezer. Washtheinsidewithwarmwater andbakingsodasolution—about twotablespoonsofbakingsodatoa quartofwater.Thenrinseanddry.
Don’tusecleanserssuchassoaps,
detergents,scouringpowderor
spraycleanersinsidethefreezer—
theymaycauseodors. Washicetrays,driptrayandshelves
withmilddetergentsolutionand drythemwitha soficloth.
Wipetheoutsideofthefreezerwith
asoftclothdampenedwithsoapy waterorAppliancePolishWax Cleaner(Cat.No.WR97X216), availablefromGeneralElectric AppliancePartsMarts.
Useonlymild,soapywaterto
cleanthe doorgasket. Neveruseacids,chemicalthinner,
gasoline,benzeneor thelikefor cleaninganypartofthefreezer. Boilingwaterandbenzenemay
deformor damageplasticparts. Donotwashanyplasticpartsfrom
yourfreezerinyourautomatic dishwasher.
Thecondenserislocatedonthe backofthefreezer.Tomaintainthe freezeratpeakperformance,clean thecondenseratleasttwiceayear, usingavacuumcleanerwithits dustingattachment.
