FOR YOUR SAFETY

The AC power plug is polarized (one blade is wider than the other) and
only fits into AC power outlets one way. If the plug won’t go into the
outlet completely, turn the plug over and try to insert it the other way. If it
still won’t fit, contact a qualified electrician to change the outlet, or use a
different one. Do not attempt to bypass this safety feature.

IMPORTANT BATTERY INFORMATION

• When storing or unplugging from AC outlet for a day or more, be sure
to remove battery because it can leak and damage the unit.

• Batteries may leak electrolyte if inserted incorrectly, if disposed of in
fire, or if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be
recharged.

• Discard leaky batteries immediately. Leaking batteries can cause skin
burns or other personal injury.

• Dispose of batteries, according to federal, state, and local regulations.

This product should be serviced only by those specially trained in
appropriate servicing techniques. Attach your sales receipt to the booklet
for future reference or jot down the date this product was purchased or

“NO WORRY” BATTERY BACKUP

This clock radio is equipped with a memory holding system powered by a
9-volt alkaline battery (not included).

When power is interrupted or the AC line cord is unplugged, the battery
will power the clock radio to keep track of time and alarm settings
programmed into memory. Should WAKE TIME occur during the power
interruption, the radio will operate or the alarm will sound if remaining
battery power is adequate. Normal operation will resume after AC power
is restored. When on battery power, the digital display will not light.

Install battery as follows:

1. Unlatch and lift off battery compartment door (located on bottom of
radio).

2. Connect a 9-volt battery.

3. Insert battery in compartment and replace compartment door.

BUILT-IN AFC

The Built-In Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) works only on FM. It
helps keep the radio locked on the FM station to which it is tuned.

When tuning in FM stations, you may notice that often the station you
desire can be heard on two or three nearby points on the dial. Always
tune carefully to the loudest and clearest point.

ANTENNAS

AM Antenna - A built-in ferrite rod antenna eliminates the need for an
outside antenna for AM reception - Rotating the unit slightly may improve
reception of distant AM stations.

FM Antenna - The power cord acts as your FM antenna. The power cord
picks up moderate to strong stations and eliminates the need for an
external antenna in most strong signal areas. Be sure the power cord is
stretched to its full length. Do not coil or bunch the cord together.
Changing position of the power cord may improve reception.

OPERATING THE RADIO

1. Plug the power cord into any 120V AC household outlet.

2. Press the ON button.

3. Slide the AM/FM BAND switch to desired broadcast band.

4. Turn TUNING dial to select a station and then turn the VOLUME
control to your preferred listening level.

5. Press the OFF button to turn radio off.

SETTING THE TIME

Use the FAST FORWARD, FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to set the
correct time. The AM indicator to the left of the digital display will show
when the clock is reading AM time.

SETTING THE WAKE TIME

You can select two different wake times for music or alarm to turn on
automatically. WAKE 1 and 2 controls are located on top of the unit
behind the SNOOZE bar.

1. Slide switch to SET position. The display will change to wake time.

2. Use the FAST FORWARD, FORWARD and REVERSE buttons as needed
until you reach your desired AM or PM wake time.

For music, select an AM or FM station and then turn the radio off. Set
wake time and then slide the switch to MUSIC. For Alarm, set wake time
and then slide switch to ALARM position.

If a wake time is set, an indicator in the display lights and the unit turns
on in the chosen mode (alarm or music) at the set time for approximately
one hour. To turn off the wake mode, slide the switch to OFF or press the
OFF button.

NOTE: If both Wake 1 and Wake 2 controls are in the SET position,
the time of day is displayed.

USING SNOOZE CONTROL

After the wake mode has activated, you can silence it for another 7
minutes by pressing the SNOOZE button. When the wake mode activates
again, you can turn the unit off or use SNOOZE button for up to 59
minutes. The radio or alarm will then turn itself off after about an hour.

SLEEP TO MUSIC

You can drift off to sleep to music knowing that the radio will turn itself off
automatically.

1. Turn the radio off.

2. Press and hold the SLEEP button. The radio will turn on

automatically

and 0:59 will show in the display.

3. Hold down the SLEEP button until you reach a sleep time between
59 and 1 minute.
The radio will play for the chosen length of time (up to 59 minutes)
and then turn itself off. If you decide to turn the radio off before the

total number of minutes have passed, just press the OFF button.

POWER FAILURE INDICATOR

If AC power is interrupted (disconnected) for a short period, both time
and alarm settings will change unless optional battery is installed. After
AC power is restored (reconnected) the digital display will blink to
indicate that power was interrupted and you must readjust the TIME and
ALARM settings.

What your warranty covers:

• Any defect in materials or workmanship.

For how long after your purchase:

• One year.
(The warranty period for rental units begins with the first rental or 45 days from date
of shipment to the rental firm, whichever comes first.)

What we will do:

• Provide you with a new or, at our option, a refurbished unit.

• The exchange unit is under warranty for the remainder of the original product’s

warranty period.

How to make a warranty claim:

• Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with
the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.

• Remove cassette tapes or CDs from unit before shipping as these will not be
returned.

• Include in the package evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print
your name and address and a description of the defect. Send standard UPS or its

How state law relates to this warranty:

• This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which
vary from state to state.

If you purchased your product outside the USA:

• This warranty does not apply. Contact your dealer for warranty information.

NOTE:

• Alkaline batteries are recommended. Carbon-zinc batteries may be
used but memory holding time will be substantially reduced. Memory
holding time for a fresh alkaline battery is approximately 8 hours (if
Wake System is not activated). To preserve battery life, the radio
should remain plugged into an AC outlet. As the battery gets older, its
voltage will drop and memory may be lost. Be sure to replace the
battery periodically.

• Be sure to remove battery when storing the unit. Battery will be
drained if left connected while the unit is unplugged, and a worn out
battery may leak chemicals which can badly damage the clock radio.
When discarding batteries, be sure to dispose of them in the proper
manner, according to your state and local regulations.

PARA SU SEGURIDAD

El enchufe de alimentación eléctrica de corriente alterna está polarizado

“NO PREOCUPARSE” SISTEMA DE APOYO DE LA PILA

Este radio/reloj viene equipado con un sistema retentivo memorizador, el
cual puede ser activado con una pila alcalina de 9 voltios (no incluída),
instalada por el usuario.

Cuando la energía doméstica normal se interrumpe, o el cordón de la
línea CA se desconectará, la pila mantendrá las indicaciones de hora y
alarma ya programadas en la memoria. Si la hora de DESPERTAR se
ocurrierra durante la interrupción de energía eléctrica, la radio funcionará
o la alarma sonará si la energía que queda en la pila es suficiente. Una
operación normal empezará de nuevo después de reestablecerse la
energía CA.

Instale la pila de la siguiente manera:

1. Levante la puertecilla del compartimiento de la pila (localizado al fondo de
la radio).

2. Conecte una pila de 9 voltios.

3. Inserte la pila en el compartimiento y ponga de nuevo la puertecilla.

CAF INTEGRADO

El Control Automático de la Frecuencia (CAF) integrado funciona sólo en
FM. Ayuda a reducir el desvío en la recepción FM y a mantener la radio en
la estación a la cual haya sido sintonizada.

Al estar sintonizando estaciones FM, Ud. podrá notar que a menudo la
estación que Ud. desee podrá ser escuchada en dos o tres puntos
cercanos sobre la escala. Siempre sintonice al punto más fuerte y más
claro.

ANTENAS

Antena de AM — Para la recepción en AM el aparato cuenta con una
antena de varilla de ferrita, incorporada, que elimina la necesidad de
utilizar una antena exterior. Para mejorar la recepción de emisoras
distantes, haga girar levemente el aparato.

Antena de FM — El cordón de alimentación funciona como antena de FM.
El cordón toma las emisoras con señales medias y fuertes, y elimina la
necesidad de una antena exterior en la mayoría de las zonas donde las
señales son fuertes. Asegúrese de que el cordón de alimentación está
completamente estirado. No lo enrolle ni lo ate. Cambiando la posición
del cordón, es posible mejorar la recepción.

FUNCIONAMIENTO DE LA RADIO

1. Enchufe el cordón de energía en cualquier tomacorriente doméstico
de 120 voltios.

2. Presione el botón denominado ON para prender la radio.

3. Deslice el conmutador de la BANDA AM/FM a la banda de la emisión
deseada.

4. Gire el CONTROL DE SINTONIZACION (TUNING) para seleccionar una
estación, ajuste el VOLUMEN a su preferencia.

5. Para apagar la radio, presione el botón denominado OFF.

PUESTA EN HORA

Para cambiar la hora rápidamente utilice AV ANCE RAPIDO y a medida que se va
acercando a la hora deseada, cambie a AV ANCE. El indicador AM a la izquier da
de la pantalla se encenderá cuando la pantalla esté en el tiempo AM.

FUNCIONAMIENTO DE LA ALARMA

Es posible seleccionar dos horarios diferentes para que la alarma se
active automáticamente, con radio o con timbre. Los conmutadores
WAKE 1 y 2 (alarma 1 y 2) están ubicados en la parte superior del aparato,
detrás de la barra SNOOZE (apagado programado).

1. Deslice el conmutador en la posición SET. En el visor aparecerá la
hora de la alarma.

2. Utilice las teclas de avance rápido, de avance y de retroceso como sea
necesario para llegar a la hora AM o PM en que debe sonar la alarma.

Para despertarse con música, seleccione una emisora de AM o FM y
luego apague la radio. Programe la hora de alarma y luego deslice el
conmutador a MUSIC. Para despertarse con timbre, programe la hora de
alarma y luego deslice el conmutador a la posición ALARM.

Si se ha programado la hora de la alarma, en el visor se iluminará un
indicador y el aparato se encenderá automáticamente a la hora
programada, en el modo seleccionado (timbre o música), y se apagará
después de una hora. Para desactivar el modo de alarma, deslice el
conmutador a OFF u oprima la tecla OFF.

Observación: si los conmutadores WAKE 1 y WAKE 2 están en la
posición SET, en el visor aparecerá la hora del día.

CONTROL DE LA ALARMA SNOOZE

Para dormir un poco más después de que la alarma haya sonado o que la
radio se haya prendido al tiempo de despertar programado, simplemente
hay que oprimir la barra tecla de SNOOZE para silenciar la radio o la
alarma. Después de aproximadamente 7 minutos, la radio o la alarma
sonará de nuevo. Ud. puede apagar la unidad o usar tecla de SNOOZE
hasta 59 minutos después del momento en que la radio o alarma empezó
a funcionar. La radio o la alarma se autoapagará hasta el día siguiente.

DORMIR CON MUSICA

Ud. puede dormir con música sabiendo que la radio se apagará automáticamente.

1. Para apagar la radio, presione el botón denominado OFF.

2. Oprima y detenga el botón DORMIR (SLEEP). La radio se prenderá
automáticamente y al pantalla mostrará 0:59.

INDICADOR DE FALLA DE ENERGIA

Cuando la energía CA (Corriente Alterna) sea interrumpida
(desconectado) durante un período corto, las indicaciones de la hora y de
la alarma cambiarán (a no ser que Ud. haya instalado una pila opcional).
Después de que la energía CA sea restablecida (reconectada), la pantalla
digital parpadeará para indicar que la energía fue interrumpida y que Ud.

NOTA:

• Se recomiendan pilas alcalinas . Se pueden usar pilas de carbono­cinc pero el tiempo que mantendrá la memoria se reducirá
substancialmente. Una nueva pila alcalina mantendrá la memoria por
aproximadamente 8 horas (si no se activa el Sistema de Despertar) lo
cual debe ser suficiente para una falla normal de energía CA. Para
preservar la vida de la pila, la radio debe quedar enchufada en un
tomacorriente CA. Al envejecerse la pila, el voltaje se reducirá y pueda
que la memoria se pierda. Asegúrese de reemplazar la pila
periódicamente.

• Asegúrese de remover la pila cuando no use la radio por largo
tiempo. La pila se irá desgastando y podría soltar liquidos químicos
causando raños severos a la unidad. Cuando deseche las baterías,
asegúrese de deshacerse de ellas en una manera apropiada, de
acuerdo con las regulaciones locales o del estado.
