Your telephone is registered with the Federal Communications Commission
and is in compliance with parts 15 and 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.

1 Notification to the Local Telephone Company

On the bottom of this equipment is a label indicating, among other
information, the FCC Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence
Number (REN) for the equipment. You must upon request, provide
this information to your telephone company.

The REN is useful in determining the number of devices you may
connect to your telephone line and still have all of these devices ring
when your telephone number is called. In most (but not all) areas, the
sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed

2 Rights of the Telephone Company

Should your equipment cause trouble on your line which may harm the
telephone network, the telephone company shall, where practicable, notify
you that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. Where prior
notice is not practicable and the circumstances warrant such action, the
telephone company may temporarily discontinue service immediately. In
case of such temporary discontinuance, the telephone company must: (1)
promptly notify you of such temporary discontinuance; (2) afford you the
opportunity to correct the situation; and (3) inform you of your right to bring a
complaint to the Commission pursuant to procedures set forth in Subpart E
of Part 68, FCC Rules and Regulations.
The telephone company may make changes in its communications
facilities, equipment, operations or procedures where such action
is required in the operation of its business and not inconsistent with
FCC Rules and Regulations. If these changes are expected to affect
the use or performance of your telephone equipment, the telephone

MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS

You need an RJ11C type modular jack, which is the
most common type of phone jack and might look like
the one pictured here. If you don’t have a modular
jack, call your local phone company to find out how
to get one installed.

DESKTOP OR TABLETOP INSTALLATION

1. Plug the line cord into the jack in the pocket on the bottom
of the phone.

2. Run the telephone line cord through the guides on the
bottom of the phone.

3. Plug the coiled cord into the handset. Plug the other end
into the jack on the lower end of the base.

4. Slide the RINGER switch (on top of the base) to the
desired volume.

5. Set the volume switch (on the side of the handset) to the
desired listening volume.

6. Connect the telephone line cord to a modular
telephone jack.

INTRODUCTION

Your telephone is designed to give you flexibility in use and high quality performance. To get the most from your new telephone, we
suggest that you take a few minutes right now to read through this instruction manual.

CAUTION: When using telephone equipment, there are basic safety instructions that should always be followed. Refer to
the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS provided with this product and save them for future reference.

NOTE: This phone uses Touch-Tone dialing service only. For this telephone to function properly, you must use
Touch-Tone service available through your local telephone company.

INSTALLATION

WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION

1. Plug the telephone line cord into the jack in the pocket on the
bottom of the phone.

2. Stuff the excess line cord into the pocket.

NOTE: For best results, we suggest using a short line
cord (not included), available from most electronics
specialty stores.

3. Plug the other end of the line cord in the wall jack.

4. Plug the coiled cord into the handset. Plug the other end into
the jack on the lower end of the base.

5. Slip the mounting holes on the bottom of the telephone over
the wall plate posts and slide the base down until the phone
is firmly in place. (Wall plate is not included.)

6. Set the volume switch (on the side of the handset) to the
desired listening volume.

7. Slide the RINGER switch (on top of the base) to the desired
ringer volume.

TELEPHONE OPERATION

REDIAL

This unit redials up to 32 digits. To automatically redial the last
number you called:

1. Pick up the handset to get a dial tone.

2. Press redial.

FLASH

Press the flash button instead of the hook switch to activate
custom calling services such as call waiting or call transfer.
Custom calling services are provided by the phone company.

MEMORY

Each of the memory buttons is capable of storing phone
numbers that are up to 16 digits. Memory locations 0-9 require
you to press mem dial for access.

STORING A NUMBER IN MEMORY

1. Pick up the handset.

2. Press the store button.

3. Dial the number to be stored (up to 16 digits).

4. Press store again.

5. Press a memory location button 0-9.

6. Hang up the handset.

7. Write the name or number of party stored in each memory
location on the label provided with this telephone.

NSERTING A PAUSE IN THE DIALING SEQUENCE

Use the redial button to add pauses to a dialing sequence, for
example after you dial 9 for an outside line. A pause is
approximately 4 seconds long.

CHANGING A STORED NUMBER

To change a stored number, you just replace it with a different
number using the procedure for storing a number.

DIALING A STORED NUMBER

1. Pick up the handset, and wait for a dial tone.

2. For numbers stored at memory locations 0-9, press mem dial
and then number of the location in which the desired number
is stored.

NOTE: Stored numbers are saved using the telephone
line power cord. If you disconnect the line cord from
the modular phone (wall) jack, the numbers stored in
memory are lost.

DELETING A STORED NUMBER FROM MEMORY

1. Press the store button.

2. Press the redial button.

3. Press the store button again.

4. Press the memory location where the number is stored.

INTERFERENCE INFORMATION

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject

including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This telephone system meets FCC standards for Hearing Aid Compatibility.

LIMITED WARRANTY

What your warranty covers:

• Defects in materials or workmanship.

For how long after your purchase:

• One year, from date of purchase.
(The warranty period for rental units begins with the first rental or 45 days from

date of shipment to the rental firm, whichever comes first.)

What we will do:

•Provide you with a new or, at our option, a refurbished unit. The exchange unit is
under warranty for the remainder of the original product’s warranty period.

How you get service:

•Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided
with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.

•”Proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is
evidence that the product is within the warranty period, must be presented to
obtain warranty service.” For rental firms, proof of first rental is also required. Also
print your name and address and a description of the defect. Send via standard

CHAIN DIALING

You can link several memory locations in sequence by following
this example:

1. Pick up the handset to get a dial tone.

2. Press mem dial and then press 7.

3. When you hear the access tone, press mem dial and then
press 8.

4. At the next access tone, press mem dial and then 9.

IMPORTANT: If you make test calls to emergency
numbers, remain on the line and explain the reason
for the call to the dispatcher. Also, make these calls in
off-peak hours, such as early morning or late evening.

NOTE: If you make a mistake while storing a number,
hang up and repeat the storing procedure.

STORING A PAUSE IN MEMORY

The redial button has dual functionality. It becomes a pause
button if the store button is pressed first. It is valid only when
storing a number into memory. Use the redial button to insert a
pause when a delay is needed in an automatic dialing
sequence. For example, when you must dial a 9 to get an
outside line, or when you enter codes to access your long
distance company.

2 Derechos de la Compañía Telefónica

REQUERIMIENTOS PARA ENCHUFE MODULAR

Usted necesita un enchufe modular tipo RJ11C, que es
el tipo de enchufe telefónico más común y es como se
muestra en la ilustración a continuación. Si usted no
tiene un enchufe modular, llame a su compañía
telefónica local para informarse cómo puede obtener
que se le instale uno.

INSTALACIÓN

INSTALACIÓN SOBRE PARED

REDISCADO

CENTELLEO(FLASH)

Oprima el botón “flash” en lugar del gancho para colgar, para
activar los servicios especiales como llamada en espera o
llamada transferida. Los servicios especiales se obtienen a
través de su compañía telefónica.

PARA ALMACENAR UN NÚMERO EN LA MEMORIA

1. Levante el auricular.

2. Oprima el botón para almacenar “store.”

3. Marque el número que será almacenado (hasta 16 dígitos).

4. Oprima el botón para almacenar “store” nuevamente.

5. Oprima un botón para localización de memoria (1-9).

6. Cuelgue el auricular.

7. Escriba el nombre y número de la persona que está
almacenado en cada localización de memoria en la etiqueta
provista con este teléfono.

ARA INTRODUCIR UNA PAUSA EN LA SECUENCIA DE DISCADO

Utilice el botón para volver a marcar (“redial”) para agregar
pausas a una secuencia de marcar, por ejemplo, después de
que usted utiliza el 9 para obtener línea externa. Una pausa dura
aproximadamente 4 segundos.

PARA CAMBIAR UN NÚMERO ALMACENADO

PARA DISCAR UN NÚMERO ALMACENADO

IMPORTANTE: Si usted hace llamadas de prueba a

explique a la operadora la razón de su llamada.
También, haga estas llamadas fuera de las horas pico,

almacena un número, cuelgue y repita el

PARA ALMACENAR UNA PAUSA EN LA MEMORIA

El botón para volver a marcar tiene una doble función. Se
convierte en un botón de pausa si el botón para almacenar se
ha oprimido primero. Es válido únicamente cuando se almacena
un número en memoria. Utilice el botón para volver a marcar
para introducir una pausa cuando un retraso es necesario en
una secuencia automática para marcar. Por ejemplo, cuando
usted debe marcar el 9 para obtener línea externa, o cuando
usted inscriba códigos para tener acceso a su compañía
telefónica de larga distancia.

VOLUMEN

Usted puede controlar el nivel de volumen con el selector
“VOLUME” localizado a un costado del auricular. Tiene 3
niveles: bajo, medio y alto.

MEMORIA

Cada uno de los botones de memoria tiene la capacidad para
almacenar números telefónicos hasta de 16 dígitos. Las
localizaciones de memoria 0-9 requieren que usted oprima el
botón de memoria (“mem dial”) para tener acceso.
