Maximum benefit to your patient, at the greatest margin of safety, requires a thorough knowledge
and understanding of the correct operation and application of this unit. It is important, therefore,
that you read and understand the Operating Instructions and all Precautions (refer to page 9)
prior to use.
The Gaymar MEDI-THERM System is designed to regulate patient temperature by the application
of hyper/hypothermia blankets, through which temperature controlled water is circulated.
Gaymar's Model MTA-4700 machine may be operated to provide patient therapy in two basic
modes, Automatic and Manual. In Automatic Mode, patient temperature is automatically regulated
to an operator-specified set point.
In Manual Mode, the operator must observe patient temperature, and adjust the blanket water
temperature to obtain the desired results.
MEDI-THERM also features a convenient means of monitoring patient temperature, without
providing therapy, yet with the machine in standby condition, available for immediate use. This
third operating mode. Patient Temperature Monitoring, is achieved by utilizing the accurate
sensing capability of the Patient Probe.
The main components of the Gaymar System are shown in Figure (1), and include the Model
MTA-4700 MEDI THERM machine, one eight (8) foot Connector Hose, the Patient Probe, and the
Gaymar "button design" Thermal Blanket.
