Repairs and Retipping
Garrott Decca cartridges that even now retain a strong following among
Phono cartridges are mechanical instruments and are subject to wear and
ageing.
Many cartridges coming in to our laboratory for repair and upgrade
services are in a very poor state of health. It is false economy to spend
valuable listening time using a poorly performing cartridge that
may be chewing up your irreplaceable record collection.
Diamond wear, suspension fatigue, hardening or softening
of vital compliance control components, can all
significantly affect the performance of
your cartridge.
It is not always easy to identify
problems that you have learned to
live with, but the causes are
obvious to our expert eyes and
ears, and can usually be quickly
remedied.
We will replace a worn diamond
or perform a full upgrade with an
appropriate selection from our
range of advanced stylus profiles;
the choice is yours.
There comes a time when total
replacement is the obvious answer
and we invite music lovers to
review the Garrott range of new
cartridges as a replacement and
upgrade for your present system.
The Garrott P88 Moving Coil
The Garrott P88 MC cartridge represents the end
result of many years of research into the factors
and materials that dictate and control the sonic
signature of a phono transducer.
Since the early 1980s Garrott Brothers have
shown that recorded music can be reproduced
with all of the drama, listener involvement and
character of an actual live performance.
This perception has been developed to a high
degree over a number of years, resulting in the acclaimed
audio enthusiasts.
It has been a Garrott ambition to capture this level of sonic faithfulness to
the spirit of the performance and to make it available in a more convenient
form. The benefits resulting from Garrott innovations could then be
enjoyed by a wider and less technically motivated audience.
Superior fidelity to the original performance has previously been available
only to those prepared to live on a 'knife-edge' coping with the issues of
arm/cartridge compatibility, minute setup detail, managing hum and noise
minimisation, erratic groove tracking, and the effects of changing
environmental conditions.
With the release of the Garrott P88 MC cartridge the full range of sonic
realism and drama can be achieved within the parameters of everyday highÂend electronics and conventional listening environments. At the same time
you can track your irreplaceable vinyl recordings in an exemplary fashion
with minimal surface degradation.

The Garrott P89 Moving Coil
The Garrott P89 MC cartridge at the top of the
range, embodies all of the technology inherent in
the P88 with additional exotic materials. It
features a sapphire cantilever plus the most
advanced diamond stylus profile, resulting in
superior delicacy of detail and the ability to
perfectly track many recordings that would be
virtually unplayable with lesser cartridges.
The quality of reproduction achievable with the
Garrott P89 and a well made vinyl record is such
that the playback 'hardware' will fade into invisibility
revealing a sonic performance approaching that of the master tape.
