The Fuji Xerox P-880 engine was first found in the Apple Laserwriter 8500 back in
August of 1997, then two years later IBM released the Infoprint 20 using the same
engine. The large format Fuji Xerox P-880 engine propels its machines to a speed up
to 20 pages per minute at 600dpi and can handle multiple paper sizes including
11”x17”. The all-in-one cartridge design is similar to other Fuji Xerox engines
and looks like a cross between the Xerox N32 and the Xerox N17. 640 grams of
UltraFine toner fills the toner hopper and delivers 14,000 pages at 5% coverage.
However, with TonerMiser technology the machine can cut the toner usage in half
increasing the yield to 28,000 pages at 5% coverage.

the hopper. (See Photo 5) Slide the drum
axle out from the waste hopper.
Step 5
Remove the drum.
NOTE: If you plan to reuse the drum, wipe
the drum with a lint free cloth. If toner is
built up on the drum apply a small
amount of alcohol to the lint free cloth.
Clean the drum and then wipe dry. Place
the drum in a protective area out of the
light.

Common Problems
and Solutions:
1. Problem: Light print on the
top half of the page.
Solution: The cartridge spring
on the end of the cartridge is
either missing or the spring’s
tension is too weak. Replace or
install the spring.
Problem: Leaky toner from

behind the wiper blade.
Solution: If the foam was
removed from behind the
wiper blade toner will leak out.
Place a flat sheet of foam
between the wiper blade and
the waste hopper.

Step 35
Fill the toner hopper with 640 grams of
toner.
Step 36
Apply a bead of toner across the mag
roller for testing. Rotate the mag roller 45 revolutions to ensure the toner is even
across the mag roller.
Step 37
Place the waste hopper flat on the workbench with the handles toward you.Align
the toner hopper so the tension spring
will rest in the recessed area on the waste
hopper.
