Information on LCD monitor
High-quality TFT monitors are installed in notebooks from Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH. The specificat i on of the monitor resolution i ndi cates how many pixel s can be displayed. For ex am pl e, "XGA" stands f or 1024 x 768 pixels. Eac h pi xel consists of three so-called subpixels of the colours red, green and blue. As a result, an XGA monitor consists of 1024 x 768 x 3 = 2,359,296 subpixels .
The standard of production t echniques today cannot guarantee an absolutely fault -free monitor. A few isolated cons t ant lit or unlit pixel s may be present. To ensure the highest possible qual i ty, Fujitsu Siemens Com puters uses only moni t ors that at least comply with the standard DIN ISO 13406-2 (Class III).
TFT monitors are operated with background lighting. The luminosity of the background lighting can decrease during the period of us e of the notebook. The brightness of your monitor can be s et individually with the brightness cont rol keys of the key board.

Battery
The battery is one of t he m ost important components of your notebook. When not plugged into a mains outlet, the notebook runs on its buil t-in battery. You c an i ncrease the life of t he bat tery by caring for the battery properl y. The average battery li fe is around 500 charge/disc harge cycles. You can extend the battery life by taki ng advantage of the available energy saving functi ons.
Only use batteries rel eased for your notebook.
!
Charging, caring for and maintaining the battery
The notebook battery can onl y be charged, when the ambient t em perature is between 5 °C and max. 40 °C.
Take care not to drop the batteries or otherwise damage their casing (fire risk). If the rechargeable batt eri es are defective, t hey must not be used. Do not touch the contacts of the batteri es. Never interconnect the positive and negative terminals of a battery. Used batteries must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations (special waste). Observe the informat i on on battery storage in the "Important notes" c hapter.
You can charge the battery by connecting the notebook to the power adapter (see "Connec ting the power adapter").
A notebook battery will fully charge in approximately three hours in a notebook that is switched off. A notebook battery will fully charge in approximately 4.5 hours if t he not ebook is switched on.
It is a good idea to discharge the battery completely before recharging it, as this will extend battery lifetime. Work i n the battery mode until an acoustic warning prompts you to recharge and the poweron indicator in the st atus indicator panel begins to flash. The notebook bat tery should not be charged before this point .
If you do not connec t the power adapter within five m i nutes of the signals described above, your notebook will automatically switch off.
If you do not use the batteries for long periods, remove them from the not ebook. Never
