IP-KVM FW-D1008NP Quick Start Guide
Introduction
- Thank you for purchasing this product. This "Quick Start
Guide" describes the items contained in the packaging,
and explains the initial setup and procedures for basic
operations. Make sure to read this manual when using
the device.
- Read the "Safety Precautions" in the CD-ROM provided
with the device in advance for its correct use. The
"Safety Precautions" includes indications to obviate any
chance of accident or damage to you and people near
you, and your property.
- For details on operations, refer to the Installer/User
Guide
Step 1 Checking the Components
Check that the following items are contained in the
packaging.

Step2 Connecting the Device
1. Connect the device as shown below.
2. When you have connected the device, turn on each
connected server first, and then the device.

Step3 Setting Up the Network
For the initial settings of the device, set the IP address by a local
operation.
1. The device starts operating
about 1 minute after it is
turned on, and the [Free] tag
appears in the monitor for
local connection.
2. Press the [PrintScreen] key
on the local keyboard once,
then the following Main
window appears. Click
[Setup].
3. The following Setup window
appears. Click [Network].
5. When you specify a fixed
IPv4 address, click the
"Static" and the "IPv4" radio
button, enter values in the IP
address, Netmask and
Gateway fields, and click the
[OK] button. (For DHCP,
select the corresponding
Opion.)
4. The following Network
window appears. Specify the
IP address here.
6. The following message
appears, and the device
restarts. If the [Free] tag is
shown 1 minute later, the
network setup is complete.
Step4 Installing FW-Client
By using the device, install "FW-Client" – a tool for managing the
target device – into the remote client’s PC. The following explains
how to install into a Windows computer.
1. Launch Setup.exe,
contained in the CD-ROM
provided with the device.
2. The following dialog box
appears. Click [OK].
3. The following dialog box
appears. Click [Next].
5. The contents of the dialog
box are shown as below.
Select the install destination,
and click [Next].
7. The following dialog box
appears. Click [YES].
9. When the contents of the
dialog box are shown as
below, the installation is
complete. Click [Done].
4. On the following dialog box, if
you agree with the statement,
select the corresponding option,
and click [Next].
6. The contents of the dialog box
are shown as below. To set an
icon on the desktop, select the
check box and click [Install].
8. The following dialog box is
shown, and installation starts.

Step5 Setting Up FW-Client
Set up for operating the device and other target devices from
FW-Client.
1. Select [Start]→[Programs]
→ [Fujitsu Component
Limited FW Client]. Or,
double-click the [Fujitsu
Component Limited FW
Client] icon.
3. The following [New
Appliance Wizard] dialog
box appears. Click [Next].
5. Confirm the IP address
setting. If you have set up an
IP address for the device at
Step 3, Select [Yes, the
Appliance has an IP
address], and click [Next].
2. The following window
appears. To register the
device, click [New
Appliance].
4. Choose the product type.
Select [Other], and click
[Next].
6. Enter the IP address of the
device. Then click [Next].
7. The contents of the dialog
box are shown as below.
Search for the device from
the network.
9. The device is added to the
appliance list as shown
below.
8. The contents of the dialog
box are shown as below,
and the registration of the
device is completed.
Step6 Running an Update
Check the current connection status of a server module by
re-s
nchronizing FW-Client and the device.
1. Click the device registered in
the appliance list, and click
[Resync] shown at the
bottom.
2. The [Resync Appliance
Wizard] dialog box appears.
Click [Next].
3. On the following dialog box,
select the required check
box(es), and click [Next].
5. The updated information is
shown. The dialog box
below shows that a new
server module has been
detected. Click [Next].
4. The contents of the dialog
box are shown as below,
and data is retrieved from
the device.
6. The contents of the dialog
box are shown as below,
and the update is completed.
Step7 Access a Target Device
Perform an operation on a connected target device.
You need to install the version after 1.6 of JAVA Runtime
Environment (JRE) in the remote client PC to operate the target
device. Since JRE is stored in attached CD-ROM, please use it.
1. Click the [Servers] tab on the
FW-Client window, select
and double-click the server
module detected and
registered at Step6.
2. The following login dialog
box appears. Enter the
Username and password.
By default, "admin" is
registered both for the
Username and the
Password. After entering,
click [OK].
3. The following [Video Session Viewer] window appears, and
target device operations are enabled.
To finish, click [X] on the top right of the Video Session Viewer
window.
NOTES
Adjusting the mouse pointer speed on the server
When a remote user accesses a target server to perform an
operation, the mouse cursors on the remote user side and target
server side may not coincide. When this happens, adjust the
mouse pointer setting for the operating system on the target
server so that the two mouse cursors coincide.
Setup for Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista
-Click [Control Panel] → [Mouse] to show [Mouse Properties].
-Click the [Pointer Options] tab.
-In the [Select a pointer speed] section, move the slider to the
middle. Clear the [Enhance pointer precision] check box.
-In the [Snap To] section, clear the [Automatically move pointer
to the default button in a dialog box] check box.
-Click the [OK] button to finish.

with the device.
