RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE (RCD) FRONIUS GALVO
Fronius International GmbH
hereby informs, that according to IEC 60364-7-712:2002 respectively DIN VDE 0100-712:2006 a Residual
Current Device isn’t mandatory required for PV inverters.
However a residual current protection can be claimed, depending on the protection system of the particular
installation, the installation regulations or the requirements of the grid operator.
The inverters Fronius Galvo 1.5-1 – 3.1-1 do have a basic insulation between the DC- and AC side and prevent
possible residual currents from exceeding 6mA. Therefore the use of a Type A Residual Current Device is
permitted.
Typically the following combination of inverter and RCD is applicable:
/ Fronius Galvo 1.5-1 – 3.1-1 ≥30mA
Due to local circumstances, nuisance trippings of the used Residual Current Device can’t be excluded entirely.
In this case short-time delayed or selective Residual Current Devices, respectively Residual Current Devices
with higher rated nominal current or Residual Current Devices suitable for frequency converters can produce
relief.
