PROCEDURE FOR INVERTER COMPLIANCE TO
AS/NZS 4777.2: 2020 (AUSTRALIA ONLY)

1. CHANGE LOG
2. SCOPE
This document outlines the necessary procedure required to ensure compliance of GEN24 & Tauro Fronius
range with AS/NZS 4777.2:2020.
The following Fronius Inverter series are relevant to this document:
/ Fronius Primo GEN24 Plus series
/ Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus series
/ Fronius Tauro series
/ Fronius Tauro Eco series
As of Dec 18th 2021 all inverters installed in Australia MUST meet the requirements of AS/NZS 4777.2:2020
and have one of the default Regions, listed below, activated upon commissioning:
/ Region A (Fronius Grid Code designation = AUS Region A 2020)
/ Region B (Fronius Grid Code designation = AUS Region B 2020)
/ Region C (Fronius Grid Code designation = AUS Region C 2020)
It is the responsibility of the installer to confirm with the relevant DNSP as to which Region needs to be
activated in the area of his installation.
The default Region settings contain the required default Power Quality settings Volt-Watt, Volt-Var & Frequency
Response settings and Protection settings. Additional setting changes should not be necessary. If changes are
necessary, please refer to the “Menu - Country Setup (Operating Instructions)” manual, available on
request from Fronius Technical Support.
3. COMPLIANCE PROCESS
*NOTE: Minimum inverter firmware version of ≥ 1.13.13-1 must be used, however latest available is
recommended.

4. UPDATE INVERTER FIRMWARE
To update inverter firmware follow steps below:
1. Download and save the update file – more information here.
2. Connect to the Web User Interface of the inverter:
a. Via Solar.Start App.
b. Via Browser.
3. Navigate to “System” → “Update” or follow the following link (when using WiFi hotspot).
4. And perform the update -> click “Browse File” and navigate to the downloaded firmware file to load it.
Sections 4.1 Update via Solar.Start App and 4.2 Update via Browser below describe two methods on how to
perform the inverter update. Please note they only focus on the key steps required.

4.1 Update via Solar.Start App
/ Start Solar.Start and select
“START INSTALLATION”
/ Load previously downloaded
firmware file
/ Complete update and reconnect
to inverter

4.2 Update via Browser
/ Navigate to “System” → “Update”
or enter following link
/ Create “Technician” password
/ Load downloaded inverter firmware
/ Wait until the update is completed
and reconnect to inverter

5.1 Commission via Solar.Start App
/ Open Solar.Start App and select
“START INSTALLATION”
/ Complete “NETWORK” and start
“PRODUCT”
/ Under “General” for
“Country/Region” select
“Australia” and under “Grid
Code” select appropriate Region
/ Under “Grid Code” ensure
required Region is selected, for
example “AUS Region B 2020”
/ Complete “PRODUCT”, select
“SOLAR.WEB” and select
“Finish”

5.2 Commission via Browser
/ Connect to Access Point,
complete “NETWORK” & start
“PRODUCT”
/ Under “General” for

6. SETTINGS VERIFICATION
In order to verify Inverter firmware version is the minimum required version and the Grid Code matches your
required Region, settings can be verified in two ways:
/ Information Menu
/ PDF print
NOTE: you MUST be logged in as “Technician” in order to access the correct information.
6.1 Inverter Information Menu
To arrive at the “Information” menu follow steps below.
“Software Version” and “Grid Code” contain the relevant information.
/ Connect to the inverter WiFi hotspot
/ Select “Change User” and log in as
“Technician”
/ Select “Information” menu

6.2 PDF Report
A full PDF copy of inverter settings including “Software Version” and “Grid Code” can be downloaded from
the inverter’s Web User Interface, follow instructions below.
NOTE: Ensure all section options are ticked in order to extract all setting.
/ Connect to the inverter Access
Point
/ Navigate to 3 vertical lines (top
right) and then to “System”
/ Navigate to “Information”
/ Select “Print” and save file (PDF)
in your file system
/ Open/use saved PDF file when
required, preview below

IMPORTANT: Fronius strongly recommend downloading the PDF file from the inverter with all the settings
mentioned above for each individual inverter to keep for evidence of compliance that the inverter you have
installed is commissioned to AS/NZS 4777.2: 2020 and the correct settings are applied.
