SOLAR CELL-STRING OPTIMIZATION
/ Cutting costs while driving performance with Fronius inverters
/ PV system designers often are confronted with a difficult environment. Rooftops with different orientations or partial
shading have to be handled with critical examination. We are convinced that modules will be smart in the future.
Traditional module electronics (e.g. added panel optimizers) are in our opinion, due to their complexity and additional
costs, not future proof. When it comes to real optimization, Maxim Integrated presents a new generation of Optimization
with easy installation, high cost-effectiveness and greatest design flexibility. This perfectly complements and enhances
Fronius’ Design Flexibility.
/ Maxim Integrated offers a solar cell-string optimization technology, which replaces the traditional bypass diode in a
solar module. This means that each module has 3 optimizers, and therefore 3 independent MPPTs – the best-in-class
solution for shade mitigation, string mismatch and soiling. Furthermore reliability is increased by eliminating a potential
source of failure.

DesiGn FleXiBilitY
/ Fronius offers greatest design flexibility, accommodates multiple orientations, different modules, shading or unsymmetrical
designs. With Maxim Integrated the flexibility is further increased and allows for up to 20% difference in string length on
one input.
/ The tolerance for shading allows for the tightest row spacing in commercial rooftop systems without any limitations.

/ A system with Maxim optimization is easy to install – just like any standard system. There are no additional hardware
components to install, no extra settings to make and no communication hassles on the roof.
/ The optimizer replaces bypass diodes and is embedded in the module junction box eliminating the need for any extra
installation steps.
