TRADITIONAL FARM IN ROITHAM
/ Self-consumption for the whole family
/ This seven-strong farming family uses the 4.95 kWp PV system exclusively
for self-consumption purposes. The south-east alignment of the PV system
enables solar energy to be produced from early in the morning until late in the
afternoon, resulting in a self-consumption level of around 50 percent.
/ As there is always someone at home during the day, the family takes advan-
tage of the ability to switch on consumers, such as the washing machine or the
dishwasher, at specific times. The family’s electric bike is also charged using
environmentally friendly solar energy.
/ System owner Roland Prötsch is a happy man: “It wasn’t just the cost saving
that persuaded us to install a PV system. The pleasure of being able to produce
our own electricity was the real clincher. It has also significantly raised awar-
ness in the family about our own energy requirements.”
