Thank you for purchasing an ADE digital scale. Please read this instruction manual carefully
before first use. Keep these instructions for future use.
Scale Initial Setup and Battery Replacement
• This scale operates on two CR2032 batteries (included).
• To activate the batteries for initial use: open the battery cover on the
bottom of the scale and remove the safety strip. Ensure the correct
polarity of the batteries (+/-).
• To replace the batteries: open the battery cover and slide the batteries
down until they can be easily removed. Be careful not to bend the
contact. Insert the new batteries (2 x CR2032) and close the battery
cover.
Scale Powering On/Off
• Place the scale on a flat surface.
• Turn on the scale by pressing the ON/OFF button.
• Scale will be ready for use when 0g or 0.0 oz is displayed on the screen.
• This scale is equipped with an auto-off feature to conserve battery power. The
unit will turn off automatically after being idle for 2 minutes.
• Turn the scale off manually by lightly touching and holding the ON/OFF button.
Weight and Volume Measurement
• Press the ON/TARE button to change the desired unit of measure
Tare Function
Care Instructions
(g = gram to oz = ounce)
• Place a bowl on the scale and press the TARE button to set the scale to 0
• Weigh your first ingredient
• Press TARE button again to reset to 0, then add and weigh your next ingredient
• Repeat for additional ingredients
• This process can be repeated until the max. capacity of the scale has been
reached
• The display will show the total accumulated weight with a negative number after
the bowl is removed from the scale
• Clean the outside of the scale with a slightly damp cloth, do not
immerse.
• Avoid contact with citric acid, solvents and abrasive cleaning agents.

Error Messages
Lo = low battery indicator, replace with new CR2032 batteries.
Err = the scale is overloaded. Immediately remove weight from the scale to prevent
damage.

iPod/iPhone Function:
• Powering ON/OFF:
o Plug in the included power supply (do not use other power supplies
than the one included with your JOY scale)
o Turn on the scale by changing the switch from 0 to I on the lower black
ring of the scale
o Red LED light next to on/off switch will light up when on
• Docking device:
o The docking device for the iPod is located above the display
o Take off the black protective cover and insert your iPod/iPhone in the
docking device.
• Volume control:
o Two push buttons (+ and ▬) are located on the lower black ring of the
scale; next to the on/off-switch
o to control the volume:
+ = more volume/turn up
or ▬ = less volume/turn down
• Connection of additional audio sources:
o Connect additional audio sources e.g. MP3-player by plugging them in
the AUDIO-IN outlet
• Care Instruction Loudspeaker:
o Turn the inner white ring which is located at the lower platform (OPEN
<----> LOCK) to the left towards OPEN
o The loudspeaker grills opens and can be removed
o Wipe off the loudspeaker grills using a slightly damp cloth
o Make sure no moisture gets inside the loudspeaker
o After cleaning, lower the perforated loudspeaker grills and turn the
inner white ring to the right towards LOCK.

Statutory instructions on battery disposal
Batteries must not dispose as of household waste. The law requires that you, as consumer,
return the waste batteries either to public collection points in your city or to any outlet
selling batteries of the same kind.
Batteries are marked as follows:
CR (Li); A (Al, Mn); AA (Al, Mn); AAA (Al, Mn)
Disposal of old electrical and electronic equipment
Li = Battery contains Lithium
Al = Battery contains Alkali
Mn = Battery contains Manganese
This symbol on the product or
on its packaging indicates that
this product shall not be
treating as household waste.
Instead, it shall be handed
over to the applicable
collection point for recycling
of electrical and electronic
equipment. For more detailed
information’s about recycling
please contact your local city
office, your household waste
disposal service or the shop
where you purchased the
product.

ADE warrants for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase that it will remedy any
defects due to faulty material or workmanship free of charge by repair or replacement.

Note: The displayed value may be adversely affected under extreme electromagnetic
influences, e.g. when using a radio unit in the immediate vicinity of the device. Once the
interference has been rectified, the product can once again be used for its intended
purpose. The device may have to be switched-on again.
