Caution
Do not use or store the unit in environments where it will be
exposed to:
Extreme temperatures (direct rays of the sun, heat sources
such as radiators or stoves.)
High humidity or moisture.
Excessive dust or sand.
Excessive vibration or shock.
Whenever leaving the unit unattended for long periods, be sure
to unplug the AC adapter from the power source to avoid cre-
ating a fire hazard.
Take care not to drop the unit, and do not subject it to exces-
sive pressure or weight.
Do not press the switches on the unit with a bare foot, or unex-
pected injury may result.
Do not use solvents (such as benzine, paint thinner) on the unit,
since these may dull the finish or damage the surface.
Warning
Never try to disassemble, or modify the unit.
Stop using the unit if you notice smoke or a strange odor com-
ing from it and unplug the AC adapter from the outlet.
Never try to repair the unit or replace parts unless so instructed
by the user’s manual. For other repair or parts replacement
contact your local dealer or Free The Tone.
Never unplug the AC adapter while your hands are wet.
Do not apply too much pressure or tension or place a heavy
object on the power cord. Doing so may damage the power
cord and create a danger of fire or electrical shock.
Turn off the unit and unplug the AC adapter from the outlet and
contact your local dealer or Free The Tone for repair in the case
of any of the following:
The power cord is damaged.
Foreign objects (coins, pins, etc.) or liquid enter the unit.
The unit gets wet from rain or other liquid.
The unit is out of order.
Be careful of heat radiation from the unit.
Never cover the AC adapter with cloth or other objects. Built-
up heat can deform the case or cause a fire hazard.

• Realtime BPM Analyzer: Delay tim e can be
adjusted wh ile apply ing realt ime BPM anal ysis to
the actual p erform ance in the ra nge of ±20% for
the tempo (BPM ) informati on entered by t apping
the footswitch.
• Delay Time O ffset : Delay tim e can be off set in
ms from the BPM of t he piece to be p layed and
saved as a pres et.
Main Features
• HPF and LPF: A L PF (low-pass fi lter) that cu ts
high frequ encies i s useful to get a wa rm delay
sound. Phra ses can lo ose sharp ness if the re is
a lot of low frequ ency comp onents in th e delay
sound. The H PF (high-pa ss filter) tha t cuts low
frequen cies can be helpfu l in such a case. This c an
be set for eac h preset.
• Modulation: Modulation effects can be applied
to the delay sou nd. You can make wid ely varie d
sounds from a beautifully modulated, open delay
sound to an ex treme sire n noise.
• Sound Ho ld Functi on: The F T-1Y has a unique
Hold func tion. Even whe n it is in eff ects off st atus,
pressing a n externa l footswitch c onnected to th e
rear pane l trigger s the delay so und stored in th e
unit. You can also pl ay your instr ument over th e
stored delay sound.
• Rec & Repeat Function: Incoming signals can
be recorde d and loop ed. A preset de lay effe ct
is applie d to both the repe ated sound th at was
just recor ded and the s ound played a long with
the repeate d sound. A 20-s econd rec ording is
possibl e. (Only one ph rase can be r ecorded;
recordin g cannot be la yered.)
• Trail Function: You can switch to a new pres et
while leav ing the prev ious delay s ound. A natur al
effect sw itching is obtained b ecause the trail of the
previous s ound will not be cut of f when the presets
are changed.
• Delay Phase Function: The phase of the delay
sound can b e inverted.
• Subdivision Function: Defines beat co unt for
the delay ba sed on BPM. Th is functio n can be set
for each pre set.
• Dry On /Off Func tion: You can set th is to cut
the dry so und and fee d the effec ts sound (delayed
sound) only.
• Boost Function: Output level of t he FT-1Y can
be set for eac h preset. The o utput leve l can be
boosted by up to +3 d B.
• Tap-Preferred Mode: In this mode, the pres et
is recalle d after ap plying th e tempo infor mation
lastly ente red from the fo otswitch. For ex ample if
you switch the p resets af ter tapping i n the tempo
at the begin ning of a tune, th e tempo infor mation
remains un change d. You do not have to enter the
tempo by tapp ing the switch a gain.
• Preset Recall Function: By holding down the
TAP- PLAY footswitch, you c an selec t to recall
a specifie d preset (2-sec ond press) o r to recall
Preset 1 and Pr eset 2 alternately (4-se cond press).
• MIDI Functions: Each preset ca n be recall ed by
a MIDI progr am change n umber. Various fe atures
can be remote -control led by recei ving cont rol
change numbers assigned to them.

Handling Precautions
• Never connect or disconnect plugs to/from the input/output terminals on the FT-1Y when the external device that drives speakers is powered.
Doing so can cause noises and damage the speakers.
• Avoid applying excessive force to the footswitches, tact switches, and phone jacks on the FT-1Y.
• If the unit malfunctions or behaves erratically, cease operation at once and contact your local dealer or Free The Tone directly.
