FOR NEW COUNTER INSTALLATIONS
Step1A
The following instructions are to be used if you are installing a
new countertop along with your new sink. If the countertop has
not yet been anchored to the cabinets, you will find it much
easier to make the cutout and install the sink first, while it is in
an easier to work position.
PREPARE THE COUNTERTOP:
Check clearances above and below the counter. Make sure
there are no obstructions such as cupboard partitions, braces
or pipes to interfere with the installation.
Note: Thickness of the countertop must not be more than
1-1/2" (38mm) at sink rim.
Carefully place sink upside down on countertop and locate in
desired position. Be careful not to damage sink finish during
installation. Using a soft lead pencil, trace the sink outline onto
the countertop (Illustration 1).
THIS IS NOT THE CUTTING LINE!
Draw a line 1/2" inside sink outline (Illustration 2). Before
cutting, measure the cut-out you just drew. The cut-out should
be 1" smaller than the overall sink dimensions.
Drill a pilot hole inside the cutting line. (Illustration 3).
Using sabre saw or keyhole saw, cut-out opening on
countertop by carefully following the cutting line previously
marked (Illustration 4).

FOR REPLACEMENT INSTALLATIONS
Step1B
OUT WITH THE OLD
Taking out the old sink isn't too difficult, because you can leave
the "toughest nuts" in place - the faucet and drain outlet - and
simply lift them out right with the sink itself. Once the sink is
out of the counter, you will find it easier to remove these parts.
Here's how to remove the old sink:
1. Shut off the water supply valves.
2. Disconnect the water supply fittings.
3. Disconnect the drain fittings.
4. From the underside of the sink, loosen and remove
the frame or rim fasteners.
5. Lift the entire sink out of the countertop.
CAUTION: ALL HEAVY SINKS, SUCH AS CAST IRON, MUST BE
SECURELY SUPPORTED FROM UNDERNEATH TO PREVENT THEM
FROM FALLING DURING REMOVAL.
CHECK YOUR DIMENSIONS
Check the countertop cut-out opening to be sure it is sized
properly. The easiest way to do this is to set the new sink into
the opening to see if it fits. The sink rim must set uniformly in
the countertop. If the sink does not fit, enlarge the cut-out
opening with a sabre saw, or keyhole saw. (See Step 1A, For
New Installations).
In some instances the cut-out may be larger than recommended
by Franke Kindred Canada. In those cases where the cut-out is
less than 1" different from the rim dimension, a continuous
bead of caulking, or silicone sealant must be applied between
the factory rim seal and the rim edge.
