Selecting and using batteries:
The FracSim meter uses a switching power supply and can accept battery voltages from 6.5 to 20 volts. The higher the voltage, the less current it draws due to the switching power supply. Using the supplied battery holder you can use 2 X “9V
. Alkaline batteries work
but can be substituted with "9V"rechargeable batteries.
The battery voltage is momentarily displayed when the meter powers up. The Battery voltage dictates the maximum voltage on frequency simulate and current sourcing modes.
To open the battery compartment remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the meter. This will release the battery cover. Disconnect the connectors on the top of the batteries to remove them from the meter. Avoid contacting the battery pack connector terminals incorrectly with the battery pack terminals (reverse polarity). This has been tested and does not cause immediate damage but is not recommended.
Cold weather operation:
In colder weather (less than 0˚C), the meter should be powered up inside before being exposed to the colder weather. The FracSim meter is calibrated at 22˚C, the highest level of accuracy is at 22˚C (the temperature where it was calibrated at).
Fail Safe Contrast boot:
If the meter's displays contrast is far out of adjustment you can power up the meter in a special mode to set the contrast. Follow these steps: Power on the meter by pressing the button but continue to hold down the button. The meter will beep a pulse beep for about 7 seconds. when the beep turns into a continuous tone release the button. the meter will now change contrast slowly. When the text becomes clearly visible press the button again to set
Warnings:
Do not open the case:
Opening the case beyond the battery compartment will void warranty. There are no user serviceable parts. The current measure has 130 ohm’s resistance with a PTC and cannot be damaged even with a dead short (maximum 30 volts).
●30 VDC MAX.
● NOT INTRINSICALLY SAFE.
● DO NOT APPLY THE CURRENT SOURCE OUTPUT OF THE FRACSIM METER TO THE GND OF ANOTHER VOLTAGE SUPPLY, THIS MAY GENERATE A HIGHER VOLTAGE DUE TO THE SERIES EFFECT AND DAMMAGE THE FRACSIM METER.
● BE AWARE OF THE ACCURACY SPECIFICATIONS OF THIS DEVICE. PLEASE REFERENCE THE SPECS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE WITHIN YOUR TOLERANCE.
