Fountain Tech Pump User Guide
This manual covers installation, maintenance and safety instructions for the following models of Fountain Tech pumps: FT-1900, FT-3500, FT-6000 and FT-8000
INSTALLATION Submersed: Place your pump on the top of a flat brick or stone at the bottom of your water garden. Elevating the pump off the basin bottom will help prevent debris from interfering with the pump’s performance. To test performance, completely submerge the pump under water and plug into a GFCI outlet. Note: When attaching an adaptor,
fountain nozzle, PVC or other accessory to the pump, use plumbers tape at the connection points for a tight fit.
Inline: Place your pump outside the pond or
fountain area but below the water level (or you must use a priming pot, available at many pool and pond supply stores). To test performance, make sure the intake line is filled with water and plug the pump into a GFCI outlet. Note: When attaching an
adaptor, fountain nozzle, PVC or other accessory to the pump, use plumbers tape at the connection points for a tight fit.
CAUTION: ALWAYS UNPLUG
THE PUMP BEFORE HANDLING.
• Make sure the pump is fully submerged or, if used inline, that the intake line is full of water and contains no air bubbles.
• Check tubing for kinks or obstructions and ensure pump outlet is clear of objects.
• Check water inlet for any kinks or obstructions. If normal water flow is not evident, remove side plate and turbine to access the turbine area. The turbine is held in with 4 Phillips screws. Once unscrewed, turn the cover counter-clockwise and it will loosen and you can pull it off. Rotate the turbine to ensure that it is not broken or jammed. Remove it and rinse the turbine cover and side plate (if not using the pump inline) before plugging into the GFCI outlet.
1. Always unplug the pump from the electrical outlet before handling it.
2. Keep the pond water clean.
3. Always operate the pump completely submerged, or, if using inline, make sure it is below water level or a priming pot is being used. Check the water level daily to ensure the pump will be pumping plenty of water. If water levels are too low and the pump cannot pull enough water, it can sustain damage. Add water if necessary.
4. Clean the pump periodically to prevent mineral deposits and contamination.
Pump is not to be operated below 41F - Freeze damage may occur. If the pump is installed outdoors in a freeze zone, ensure all water is removed and the unit is completely dry and stored in a frost-free area.
