GENERAL SAFETY RULES
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT OPEN COVER. NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED PERSONEL. After removing the packaging check that the machine is intact. If in doubt, do not use it and contact your FOUNTAIN representative. (! Danger of injury)
The machine must be used exclusively for the preparation of hot beverages with the FOUNTAIN cartridges. Using the machine for a different purpose or with other cartridges is considered improper use. In this case inappropriate use excludes the manufacturer from all responsibilities for any damage to the machine, persons or things. The drink served by the machine is very hot and therefore should be used only by adults. This appliance is not intended for u se by persons (including children)with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Keep the mains cord out of the reach of children. Do not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands. Keep the cord, the base and the machine away from hot surfaces.
Always place the base and the machine on a dry, flat and stable surface.(danger of tipping)
Before inserting the plug in the power socket make sure that the machine’s operating voltage corresponds with that of the power supply. Never insert foreign objects or hands in the openings of the machine when it is connected to the power or when in use. (danger of electrocution). Never use the machine with wet hands. (danger of electrocution). Never top up the water tank when the machine is connected to the power supply. (danger of electrocution). Never clean or wash the machine when the machine is connected to the power supply. (danger of electrocution). Never clean or wash the machine with solvents. We recommend warm water. Never immerge the machine in water or other liquids. Do not use a water jet to clean the machine. Avoid installing the machine in places where water jets are used for cleaning Do not use the machine outside the home or office and never expose it to the weather (sun, rain, …). The machine is not suited for outdoor use
Do not use the appliance if the mains cord, the plug, the base or the appliance itself is damaged. If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Fountain; a service centre authorised by Fountain or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. The machine is only intended for heating water. Do not use it to heat up soup or other liquids or jarred, bottled or tinned food. Hot water can cause serious burns. Be careful when the machine contains hot water. Never fill the machine beyond the maximum level indication. If the machine has been overfilled, boiling water may be ejected from the inlet and cause scalding. Be careful when you open the lid: the steam that comes out of the machine is very hot. Always make sure the water in the machine at least covers the bottom of the machine to prevent the machine from boiling dry. Depending on the hardness of the water in your area, small spots may appear on the heating element of your machine when you use it.
This phenomenon is the result of scale build-up on the heating element and on the inside of the machine over time. The harder the water, the faster scale builds up. Scale can occur in different colours. Although scale is harmless, too much scale can influence the performance of your machine. Descale your machine regularly by following the instructions given in chapter ‘Descaling’.
