SYNC is a hands-free, voice recognition system used for entertainment,
information and communication. SYNC…Say the word.

GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR
SYNC SYSTEM
Before you get started:
1) Set up your owner account at SyncMyRide.com (U.S.)
or SyncMyRide.ca (Canada). Register by following the
on-screen instructions. Aer registering, you can see what
complimentary services you are eligible for.
2) SYNC uses a wireless connection called Bluetooth
®
to
communicate with your phone. Turn Bluetooth mode on
in your phone’s menu options. This lets your phone find
SYNC. If you need more details on setting up your phone
with SYNC, visit SyncMyRide.com (U.S.) or SyncMyRide.ca
(Canada), or your phone manufacturer’s website.
Pairing your phone with SYNC
In order to use many of the features of SYNC, such as making a
phone call, you must first connect or pair your phone with SYNC.
To pair your phone for the first time:
1) Make sure that your vehicle is in (P) park and your ignition
and radio are turned on.
2) Press the phone button . When the display indicates
No Phone Found, press OK.
3) When Add Bluetooth Device? appears in the display,
press OK.
4) When Find SYNC appears in the display, press OK. When
prompted on your phone’s display, enter the PIN provided
by SYNC into your phone.
5) The display will indicate when the pairing is successful.
NOTE: The system may prompt you to:
• Set your phone as the primary/favorite (the primary phone
will receive messages and voice mails).
• Download your phone book (this is required to use the full
set of voice commands).
• Turn on 911 Assist
®
.
TIPS
• Make sure you accept SYNC’s request to access
your phone.
• To pair subsequent phones, please refer to Pairing
Subsequent Phones in the SYNC chapter of your
Owner’s Manual.
• If you are experiencing pairing problems, try performing
a clean pairing by deleting your services from SYNC and
deleting the SYNC connection from your phone, and then
repeat the process.
USING MY PHONE WITH SYNC
NOTE: You must download your phone book to make phone
calls with voice commands by name. Contacts listed in all caps
will require you to spell them (i.e. JAKE, will be J-A-K-E)
Making a phone call:
Use SYNC to make a phone call to anyone in your phone book
by pressing the voice button and when prompted, say any of
the following voice commands:
Call <name> Call <name> at work
Call <name> on cell Call <name> at home
For example, you could say “Call Jake Smith at home”. SYNC
repeats the command back to you and dials the number.
NOTE: You can also make phone calls by pressing the voice
button
. When prompted, say the voice command “Dial”, then
verbally say the phone number.
Answering incoming calls:
Whenever you have an incoming call, you will be able to see the
name and number of the person calling in your display. Press
the phone button to answer an incoming call. You can hang
up at any time by pressing and holding the phone button .
Do not disturb mode:
This feature blocks incoming calls and text messages and saves
them for later. You still have access to outgoing calls when this
feature is active. Say the voice command, “Do not disturb on”
to enable and “Do not disturb o” to disable.
USING SYNC TO ACCESS DIGITAL MEDIA
SYNC has a media hub with multiple inputs allowing you to
access personal media from your digital devices. Plug in your
USB media devices such as phones and MP3 players and use
SYNC to play all of your favorite music.
Using voice commands to play music:
1) Plug your media player into your USB port.
2) Press the voice button . When prompted say “USB”,
then follow-up saying one of the following voice commands.
“Play all” “Play next song”
“Play song <name>” “Play album <name>”
3) You will hear the command repeated back to you and the
selected item will play.

screen to explore and interact with your

PHONE
Voice-control your phone for hands-
free calling with your phone securely
tucked away. With SYNC, you won’t
even need to know the phone number.
Just say the name of the person you
want from your contacts.
Your phone connects you with many
other features and SYNC services:
• Connect to SYNC Services for trac,
directions, business searches and
information favorites.
• Connect to Operator Assist to help
locate a listing or destination.
• Call for a Vehicle Health Report.
• Automatically connects with a 911
operator in the event of an accident
(feature must be turned on prior to
the event).
• Transfer calls seamlessly from SYNC
to your phone as you get in or out of
your vehicle.

NAVIGATION

Get started with your navigation
system by pressing the upper-right
green corner. The available, voiceactivated navigation system includes:

Set a Destination
Set a destination on your touch
screen by using a street address, a city
center, a place on the map or a point
of interest (POI). The easiest way,
however, is by voice.
1) Press the voice button
. When
prompted, say “Destination
street address”.
2) The system will ask you to say the
full address and will display an
example on-screen.
3) You can then speak the address
naturally, such as: “One two three
Main Street, Anytown”.
You can also use the touch screen to
enter a destination and narrow your
choices by city or street as you type.
You can choose from up to three
dierent types of routes:
• Fastest: Uses the fastest moving
roads possible.
• Shortest: Uses the shortest
distance possible.
• Eco (EcoRoute): Uses the most
fuel ecient route.
Tips
• Save your favorite locations by
touching “Save to Favorites”.
• Change your map views from
Direction Headed, North Up or 3D.

CLIMATE
SYNC with MyFord Touch controls the
temperature, airflow direction, fan speed,
and activates other climate features like
heated/cooled front seats* for you and
your passenger.
To use voice commands to operate
climate, say a voice command like
“Climate temperature 72 degrees” and
MyFord Touch will make that adjustment.
Set Your MyTemp
• Touch the lower-right blue corner on the
touch screen.
• Set your exact, desired temperature
using the + or - buttons.
• Press and hold the MyTemp button until
the background color goes solid.
You can also access many other features
your vehicle has, such as a heated
steering wheel

. Press the Climate corner
of the touch screen. From here you can
press to turn the feature on and o.
ENTERTAINMENT
No matter how you store your music,
SYNC makes it yours to enjoy when
you’re behind the wheel. Just press the
lower-le red corner of the touch screen.
From here, you can easily go between
AM/FM, Sirius and other media sources.
Set Your Radio Presets
• Touch the lower-le corner on the
touch screen
• Touch FM
• Touch Direct Tune
• Enter the desired station and
touch Enter.
• Touch Presets and then touch and
hold one of the memory preset buttons
to save it. You’ll hear a brief mute and
the sound will return once the station
is saved.
Bring in Your Own Music
Gain access to any audio source by voice
and even control how each operates,
like changing radio stations, CD tracks or
music on one of the following devices:
• CD
• USB
• Bluetooth Streaming
• A/V In

EASY FUEL® SYSTEM
With this system, you simply open the
fuel door, insert the nozzle and begin
fueling. It is self-sealing and therefore
protected against dust, dirt, water, snow
and ice. Wait five seconds from the time
the refueling nozzle is shut-o until you
remove the nozzle from the vehicle to
allow residual fuel in the nozzle to drain
into the tank.
NOTE: When using a portable fuel
container, slowly insert the fuel funnel
(located in the spare tire compartment),
and pour the fuel into the funnel. Do not
use aermarket funnels as they will not
work with the Easy Fuel system and
may cause damage. Properly clean the
funnel aer each use.
RAIN-SENSING WIPERS*
If activated, your wipers will
automatically turn on when moisture
is present on the windshield. The wiper
speed will vary based on the amount of
moisture detected and on the sensitivity
setting. To deactivate, turn your wiper
controls o.
NOTE: Make sure that this feature is
turned o before entering a car wash.
INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)KEY*
NOTE: Your intelligent access key must
be within three feet of the vehicle for
intelligent access to function properly.
To unlock the driver’s door, pull the front
exterior door handle. To lock the doors,
press and hold the door handle lock
sensor. To unlock and open the ligate,
press the exterior ligate release button
underneath the ligate handle. The
intelligent access key also contains a
mechanical key blade, which can
be used to unlock the driver’s door
if necessary. See your Owner’s Manual
for more information.
REMOTE START*
Remote start allows you to start the
engine from outside your vehicle using
your key. To start, press and then
press twice within three seconds.
Once inside, apply the brake while
pressing the ENGINE START/STOP
button. Shi into D (Drive) and go. If you
have an integrated keyhead transmitter,
simply insert the key into the ignition
and turn the ignition on as you normally
would before driving. To turn the engine
o from outside the vehicle aer using
your remote start, press once.

LOCATION OF SPARE TIRE
AND TOOLS
Your spare tire and tools are located
beneath the third row seats under the
oor panel (you will need to unstow
the seats to access). The spare tire is
designed for emergency use only and
should be replaced as soon as possible.
For complete details on changing your
tire, refer to the Changing a Road Wheel
section in the Wheels and Tires chapter
of your Owner’s Manual.
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
Your new Ford vehicle comes with the
assurance and support of 24-hour
emergency roadside assistance. To
receive roadside assistance in the
United States, call 1 (800) 241-3673.
In Canada, call 1 (800) 665-2006.
HILL DESCENT CONTROL
™*
Hill descent mode allows the driver to
set and maintain vehicle speed, while
descending steep grades on various
surface conditions. To enable, press
the control located in the center of
the Terrain management dial. The icon
will light up and a chime will sound
when it is active. Use your pedals to
increase or decrease your speed as
you normally would, until your desired
speed is reached. Remove your feet
from the pedals and your speed will be
maintained. Press the control again
to deactivate the system.
NOTE: This system only operates
between the speeds of 3 mph (5 km/h)
and 20 mph (32 km/h).
TERRAIN
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
™*
This system optimizes driveability
and comfort as well as maximizing
traction. Turn the control dial on the
center console to select from the
following modes:
• Grass/Gravel/Snow: Use
this mode where a firm
surface is covered with loose
or slippery material.
• Sand: Use this mode on so dry
sand or deep gravel terrain.
• Mud/Ruts: Use this mode
on muddy, rutted, so or
uneven terrain.
• Normal: Use this mode for
on-road conditions.
TRAILER TOW
*
Before you tow, refer to your Owner’s
Manual for complete information on
weight, details and limitations, as well
as safety information and the proper
equipment to use while towing.
NOTE: Do not tow with the mini spare
tire installed.

FUEL TANK
CAPACITY/FUEL INFO
Your vehicle has a 18.6 gallon (70.4L)
fuel tank capacity. If your vehicle has
a yellow ring around the fuel inlet, you
have a flex fuel vehicle and should use
only unleaded fuel, fuel ethanol (E85),
or any mixture of the two fuels. For
optimal performance, there are specific
requirements for flex fuel vehicles. Refer
to the Fuel and Refueling chapter of your
Owner’s Manual.
Non-ex fuel vehicles use only “Regular”
unleaded gasoline with an octane rating
of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 fuels
because your vehicle was not designed
to run on fuels with more than
15% ethanol.
FUEL-EFFICIENT
TRANSMISSION
Your vehicle has been designed to
improve fuel economy by reducing
fuel usage while coasting or
decelerating. This may be perceived
as a light to medium braking sensation
when removing your foot from the
accelerator pedal.
REAR WINDOW BUFFETING
When one or both of your rear windows
are open, you may hear a wind throb or
bueting noise. To alleviate this, simply
lower a front window until the bueting
noise subsides.
SOS POST-CRASH
ALERT SYSTEM
™
Provides audible and visual alarms
when a crash causes the deployment
of airbags or the activation of the safety
belt pretensioners. The turn signals
will flash and the horn will sound. To
deactivate, press the hazard flasher
control, or the panic button on your
remote transmitter.
DRIVER ALERT*
This system monitors your driving
behavior and determines when
the driver’s alertness is reduced or
insucient. When driving ability is
determined to be at risk, a chime will
sound and a message will appear in the
information screen. If no correction is
made, warnings will continue to alert the
driver. Press OK on the steering wheel to
clear the warning.
COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM
*
This system is designed to alert the
driver of certain collision risks. Sensors
detect if vehicles ahead of you, which
are moving in the same direction, may
be a collision risk. The system will alert
you with an audible chime and red
warning light which will appear above
the dash. If the risk of collision increases,
the system will increase brake support
to help reduce collision speed.
LANE KEEPING SYSTEM
*
This system prevents unintentional
driing out of your lane through various
driver alerts and steering corrections
toward the center of the lane. Set your
system settings as desired by Mode,
Sensitivity and Intensity from your
information displays screen. Turn the
feature on and o by pressing the button
on your headlamp stalk.

COMFORTFUNCTION
REAR VIEW CAMERA*
This system provides a visual display of
the area behind the vehicle. The display
automatically appears in the touch
screen when the vehicle is in R (Reverse)
and uses green, yellow and red guides to
alert you of your proximity to objects. For
non-touch screen vehicles, the image will
appear in the 4.2-inch display.
REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM
*
This system sounds a warning tone if
there is an obstacle near the vehicle’s
rear bumper when the vehicle is in R
(Reverse) and is traveling less than 3 mph
(5 km/h). The warning tone will increase
in frequency as the object gets closer.
NOTE: Visibility aids do not replace the
need to watch where the vehicle is moving.

BLIND SPOT INFORMATION
SYSTEM (BLIS
®
) WITH CROSS
TRAFFIC ALERT (CTA)
*
BLIS uses sensors to help you determine
if a vehicle may be in your blind spot
zone. The CTA feature alerts you if a car
is coming toward you when you are
backing out of a parking space. BLIS
and CTA will display a yellow indicator
light in your exterior mirrors and the
CTA will also sound tones and display
messages to warn you which direction
vehicles are approaching. Refer to the
Driving Aids chapter in your Owner’s
Manual for more information.
SELECTSHIFT AUTOMATIC™
TRANSMISSION
*
Gives you the ability to manually change
gears, if you’d like. To use, move the
gearshi lever from D (Drive) to M
(Manual). Then use the toggle on your
gear shi lever to make shis manually.
Press the (+) button to upshi, press
the (–) button to downshi.
MYKEY
®
MyKey allows you to program certain
driving restrictions in order to promote
good driving habits. You can program
things like speed restrictions, limited
volume levels and safety belt reminders.

SECURICODE™ KEYLESS
ENTRY SYSTEM
*
Allows you to lock or unlock the doors
using the touchpad. You will need your
five digit factory code located on your
owner’s wallet card in the glove box.
Refer to the Locks chapter in your
Owner’s Manual for more information
on how to use SecuriCode.
POWER LIFTGATE
*
Your ligate has an automatic open
and closing feature. To open remotely,
press twice on your keyhead within
three seconds. Press twice again to
close or reverse the movement. You can
also operate the ligate by pressing
the control located on the
instrument panel.

HEATED AND COOLED
FRONT SEATS
*
To access heated seats and cooled seats
on touch screen equipped vehicles, press
the Climate corner on your touch screen.
Press the heated or cooled s eat
icon repeatedly to cycle through the
various heat or cool modes and o. For
non-touch screen vehicles, use the hard
button controls (indicated by the same
symbols). Press the controls repeatedly
to cycle through the various heat or cool
modes and o. Indicator lights on the
control will show what settings you
have selected.
TILTING HEAD RESTRAINTS
*
Your vehicle’s front row head restraints
can be adjusted. Pull up to raise the head
restraint. To lower, press the head restraint
down while pressing and holding the
guide sleeve adjust/release button. Tilt the
head restraint for additional comfort by
gently pulling the top of the head restraint
forward. Once it is in the forward-most
position, tilting it forward once more will
release it to the upright position.
NOTE: Do not attempt to force the
headrest backward aer it is tilted. Instead,
continue tilting it forward until the headrest
releases to the upright position.
POWERFOLD® THIRD-ROW SEAT

NOTE: The PowerFold seats work only
when the vehicle is in P (Park) and the
ligate is open.
The third-row seat features a power one-
touch operation that allows you to adjust
the seats with the touch of a button. The
buttons are located behind the third-row
seats on the le-side quarter trim panel.
To use, press the RH/BOTH/LH button
to select the right-side seat, the le-side
seat or both seats you want to move.
Then, select the desired seat position:
• Press the STOW button to stow the
seat into the tub floor.
• Press the FOLD button (the top
portion of the button) to fold down
the seat back.
• Press the NORMAL button to return
the seat to the normal seating position.
MEMORY FUNCTION*
Allows one-touch recall of memory
positions for the driver seat, power
mirrors, steering column and power-
adjustable foot pedals. Use the memory
controls located on the driver’s door
to program and then recall memory
positions. To program position 1, press
and hold the 1 button until you hear a
chime. Use this same procedure to set
positions 2 and 3 using the respective
buttons. You can now use these controls
to recall the set memory positions.
DUAL-PANEL MOONROOF AND
POWER SUNSCREEN

Your moonroof is equipped with a
one-touch, express opening and closing
feature. To open, press and release the
SLIDE control, the sunscreen will open
automatically and the moonroof will
open to the first position. To fully open the
moonroof, press and release the SLIDE
control again. To close, pull and release
the SLIDE control. Press and release the
TILT control to vent the moonroof. Pull
and release the TILT control to close the
moonroof. To open the sunscreen press
and release . Pull and release
to close the sunscreen.
