EASY FUEL™ SYSTEM
Your vehicle has a ‘no cap’ fuel system which allows you to simply open the fuel filler door, insert the nozzle and start fueling. Wait five seconds from the time the refueling nozzle is shut-off until the nozzle is pulled back out of the fill pipe to allow residual fuel in the nozzle to drain into the tank. The Easy Fuel™ system is self-sealing and therefore protected against dust, dirt, water, snow and ice. If you need to fill your fuel tank with a portable fuel container, use the fuel funnel which is located under the second row driver side seat, near the spare tire tool box. Slowly insert the funnel into the Easy Fuel™ system and fill the tank with fuel from the container. When done, clean the funnel or properly dispose of it. Extra funnels can be purchased from your authorized dealer. Do not use aftermarket funnels as they will not work with the Easy Fuel™ system and may cause damage.
FUEL TYPE/TANK CAPACITY/FLEX FUEL
Your vehicle is equipped with either a 26 gallon (98.4L) or a 36 gallon (136.2L) fuel tank. You may have a Flex Fuel Vehicle. Flex fuel vehicles have a yellow ring around the top of the fuel filler inlet (tube) and can use either regular unleaded fuel, E85 ethanol fuel or any mixture of the two. If you do not have a flex fuel vehicle, then only use “Regular” unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87. Do not use E85 fuels, because your vehicle was not designed to run on fuels with more than 10% ethanol.
TIRE PRESSURE
Your tire pressure is properly set at the dealership according to the recommended specifications found on the Safety Compliance Certification Label or Tire Label located on the B-Pillar or the edge of the driver’s door. Check your tire pressure at least once a month and before long trips (including the spare). As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure warning light when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated.
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
Your new Ford F-150 comes with the assurance and support of 24-hour emergency roadside assistance. Roadside assistance includes such services as: lockout assistance, limited fuel delivery, battery jump starts, changing a flat tire, towing, and winch out. To receive roadside assistance in the United States, call 1 (800) 241-3673. In Canada, call 1 (800) 665-2006.
LOCATION OF SPARE TIRE
A temporary spare tire is located under the vehicle, just forward of the rear bumper. The temporary spare is designed for emergency use only and should be replaced as soon as possible. The jack and tools are either attached to a floor bracket behind the driver’s seat, attached to a floor bracket under the rear seat on the driver’s side or in a plastic box in the floor under the rear seat. For complete details on how to change your tire, refer to the Roadside Emergencies chapter in your Owner’s Guide.
SOS POST-CRASH ALERT SYSTEM™
This system provides audible and visual alarms in the event of a crash which causes the deployment of airbags or the activation of the safety belt pretensioners. The turn signals will flash and the horn will sound. To deactivate the system, press the hazard flasher control, or the button on your remote transmitter.
IMPROVED FUEL ECONOMY WHILE COASTING OR DECELERATING
Your vehicle has been designed to improve fuel economy by reducing fuel usage during coasting or while decelerating. This may be perceived as a light to medium braking sensation when removing your foot from the accelerator pedal.

TRAILER B RAKE CONTROLLER
The 2010 F-150 offers an available fully-integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC). TBC synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking (even with the heaviest loads) to provide added driving control and confidence.* Factory-installed TBC with standard Trailer Sway Control (TSC) is a combination that’s class-exclusive** to the 2010 F-150. *Remember, even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It’s always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions. For more information about Ford vehicle stability systems, visit fordvehicles.com. **Class is Full-Size Pickups under 8,500 lbs. GVWR.

ELECTRONIC SHIFT 4WD SYSTEM
(if equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped with an electronic shift 4WD system which allows you to choose between 2WD High, 4WD High or 4WD Low. Choose 2H (2WD High) to provide power to the rear wheels only – used mainly for street and highway driving. This mode provides optimal smoothness and fuel economy at high speeds. Choose 4H (4WD High) for extra traction on snow or on icy roads or off-road situations. (Not intended for dry pavement use.) Choose 4L (4WD Low) when you need extra gearing to provide maximum power to all four wheels at reduced speeds. This is intended for use in situations such as deep sand, steep grades or pulling heavy objects.
The Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) axle (if equipped) is a device in the rear axle which allows both rear wheels to turn at the same speed which helps to provide additional traction if the vehicle becomes stuck. To activate, pull the knob toward you while the control is in either 4H (4x4 high) or 4L (4x4 low) mode. The indicator light
will blink briefly and then remain solid. The indicator light will also display in the message center.
AWD (if equipped)
Depending on your option package, your vehicle may be equipped with AWD. With AWD, power is automatically delivered to all four wheels for increased traction. This mode is recommended for on-road driving conditions such as dry road surfaces, wet pavement, snow, gravel and shallow sand.
12
TRAILER SWAY
Your vehicle is equipped with trailer sway control. This control uses the vehicle’s AdvanceTrac
®
system to detect and help reduce trailer sway by applying brake force at individual wheels and, if necessary, reducing engine power. If this happens, TRAILER SWAY REDUCE SPEED will display in the instrument cluster with the AdvanceTrac icon
. For more information,
please refer to your Owner’s Guide.
ADVANCETRAC
