We recommend you read the instruction manual before switching on the machine and follow the instructions
that are given. Keep the manual for future reference.
SECURITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
ELECTRICAL SECURITY
Check that the current in the mains connection where the machine is to be installed corresponds to the
power supply of the machine.
To avoid damaging the equipment, electrical shocks, fire or physical injury when you connect or disconnect
the equipment from the power supply, pull the plug firmly out of the mains socket holding the plug, never the
cable.
Always do this with dry hands.
Keep the power supply cable far from sources of heat. Do not put heavy objects on top of it or change it.
Clean dust and dirt off the power supply cable regularly.
Do not open the machine; you could get an electric shock.
CAUTION
While installing the machine, make sure it is switched off and unplugged.
Do not open the machine. Touching the internal parts is dangerous and you could receive an electric shock.
The machine must not be splashed or dripped on. Never place recipients with liquid inside on the machine.
Do not place anything inside the machine.
LOCATION
Place the equipment on a horizontal surface with enough space around it to allow ventilation.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive dust.
Do not place the machine near magnetic fields or static electricity.
Do not use surfaces which vibrate or receive impact.
Do not pile machines on top of one another.
VENTILATION
Never block or cover the ventilation slits on the machine.
Do not expose it to direct sunlight or place it near sources of heat.
PERIODS OF INACTIVITY
When the machine is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
If you are using an adapter, take into account that it will continue using electricity even if the machine is
switched off. If it is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
THE ENVIRONMENT
To save energy, switch the machine off when you are not going to use it for a long time. The machine could
contain substances that are harmful to the environment or human health. To minimize the effect of these
substances the machine must be correctly managed and recycled when you decide to dispose of it.
When you dispose of it remember: it cannot be thrown into a conventional rubbish bin.
If it contains or uses batteries, these must be disposed of separately.
The machine (without batteries) must be disposed of correctly. Put it in a container specially intended for the
collection of electronic and electrical appliances, at the dump or hand it over to the dealer when you purchase
similar equipment, so that the dealer can dispose of it correctly (at no added cost).

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SYMBOLS ON THE MACHINE*
The symbol formed by the expression “Class 1 laser product” written in a rectangle
indicates that visible or invisible laser radiation could be produced. Avoid direct exposure
to the laser.
The symbol formed by a ray of lightening inside a triangle shows that the machine has
connection terminals or a circuit with areas with a current which could cause an electric
shock, even in normal working conditions.
The symbol formed by an exclamation mark in a triangle shows that the instruction manual
must be referred to for information on how the machine works and its use.
The symbol formed by one square inside another square shows that the machine has
double electrical insulation.
The European Community symbol shows that the machine complies with the current
European Union legislation, as well as its transposition to local legislation.
The symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out and over a horizontal line shows that when the
product is disposed of it must be done properly, placing it in a special selective electronic
and electrical equipment container or through a dealer when purchasing a similar product,
at no additional cost. It also shows that the machine was put on the market after 13th
August 2005 (European Community Directive 2002/96/CE of Electrical and Electronic
recycling, and its Spanish equivalent R.D.208/2005).
In accordance with what is set out in the aforementioned decree, FONESTAR is registered
in the RAEE (Registro de Aparatos Eléctricos y Electrónicos) in a special section REI
(Registro de establecimientos Industriales), with the entry number 001851.
*It is possible that some of these symbols do not appear on the machine.

DESCRIPTION
The model MX-865 is a mixer with 7 channels which are individually assignable to 2 output zones with
independent volume control and 3-band equalizer. It has 3 microphone and 4 line inputs available, phantom
power supply with individual selector, priority function per level in inputs MIC 1-3 and emergency input.
MIC 1 lets you regulate the input gain and counts on a 3-band equalizer. The PRIORITY function in inputs
MIC 1-3 automatically weakens the LINE 1-4 inputs when a signal is detected in inputs MIC 1-3. It is used
to give priority announcements through the microphone. The attenuation level can be regulated, as can the
recovery time for the rest of the inputs in order to have total control over the priority function in inputs MIC
1-3.
The emergency input is sent to the output when there is an emergency signal present (24 V DC) in the EMERG
24 V DC (euroblock) input. It is a useful tool for giving priority announcements.
The mixer has 2 independent output zones, with balanced connection (XLR connector or 6.3 mm stereo jack
and unbalanced connection via RCA connector). It has a MASTER LEVEL output level selector incorporated
from 245 mV to 2.5 V, to adapt the output level to the amplifier sensitivity or the power amp that receives the
signal. Besides, the mixer incorporates an output for headphones with independent volume control.
It is especially suitable for P.A. and audio installations in commercial premises.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
FRONT PANEL
1.- MIC 1: microphone input with combo connector (XLR and 6.3 mm stereo jack). Balanced and
unbalanced microphone signals and dynamic or condenser microphones can be connected. If you need
phantom power supply, the mixer itself supplies 15 V through the XLR connector activating the phantom
selector corresponding to the MIC 1 input on the back panel.
2.- GAIN: gain control for the MIC 1 input signal.
3.- A, A+B, B: selector which allows you to choose the output or outputs where you are going to send the
MIC 1 input signal.
4.- LED power indicator for the MIC 1 input signal.
5.- ON: push button which lets you activate or deactivate the MIC 1 input signal.
6.- BASS: control wheel to equalize the bass frequencies in the MIC 1 input. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ± 20 dB.
7.- MIDDLE: control wheel to equalize the mid frequencies in the MIC 1 input. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ±15 dB.
8.- TREBLE: control wheel to equalize the treble frequencies in the MIC 1 input. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ±14 dB.
9.- MIC 2, MIC 3: set of controls for the MIC 2 and MIC 3 inputs.
GAIN: gain control for the input signal.
A, A+B, B: selector which allows you to choose the output or outputs that the signal is going to be sent
to.
LED input channel on indicator.
ON: push button which lets you activate or deactivate the input channel.

10.-LINE 1-4: set of controls for LINE 1-4 inputs.
GAIN: gain control for the input signal.
A, A+B, B: selector which allows you to choose the output or outputs that the signal is going to be sent
to.
LED input channel on indicator.
ON: push button which lets you activate or deactivate the input channel.
11.-ZONE VOL: volume control for the output signal.
12.-STEREO/MONO: push button to convert the output signal from a stereo output to 2 mono outputs.
13.-L/R: balance control wheel to send the stereo signal to the left (L) or right (R) channel.
14.-LED indicator to show the output signal level. Avoid the red zone (+6 db) staying alight, to avoid signal
saturation.
15.-BASS: control wheel to equalize the output signal bass frequencies. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ±20 dB.
16.-MIDDLE: control wheel to equalize the output signal mid frequencies. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ±15 dB.
17.-TREBLE: control wheel to equalize the output signal treble frequencies. It is possible to achieve an
attenuation/enhancement of ±14 dB.
18.-PHONES VOL: volume control wheel for the headphone output signal.
19.-Stereo headphone signal output to monitor the mix. 6.3 mm stereo jack connector.
20.-LED mixer on indicator.
21.-LED emergency signal detection (24 V DC) indicator.
REAR PANEL
1.- On/off switch.
2.- Power supply input to connect the 230 V AC/±15 V DC mains adapter.
3.- GND LIFT: selector to disconnect the mass from the earth in the system to avoid ground loops on
connecting the sound source.
4.- EMERG. 24 V DC: priority activation in the emergency input depending on signal level (24 V DC).
5.- ZONE B: balanced stereo output through 6.3 mm stereo jack connector.
6.- ZONE A: balanced stereo output through XLR connector.
7.- MASTER LEVEL: control allowing you to choose among 5 maximum output levels, to adapt the output
signal to the amplifier sensitivity or the power amplifier whichever either of the two outputs are going to
be connected to. It is possible to choose among 0.245 V, 0.775 V, 1.25 V, 1.5 V and 2.5 V.
8.- ZONE A: unbalanced stereo output through 2 x RCA connector.
9.- ZONE B: unbalanced stereo output through 2 x RCA connector.
10.- EMERG: input for the emergency signal which is sent to the output when a 24 V DC signal is detected
in the EMERG. 24 V DC terminals. On activating priority in this signal, the rest of the inputs are
automatically silenced and the message is reproduced in all output zones.
11.- LINE 1-4: unbalanced line level inputs. 2 x RCA connector.
12.- EMERGENCY LEVEL: volume control for the signal connected to the EMERG input.
13.- GND: reference terminal for connecting the earths from other equipment if necessary.
14.- MIC 3: microphone input with combo connector (XLR and 6.3 mm stereo jack). Balanced and
unbalanced microphone signals and dynamic or condenser microphones can be connected. If phantom
power supply is needed, the mixer itself supplies 15 V DC through the XLR connector activating the
phantom selector corresponding to the MIC 3 input.

15.- PHANTOM: switches which let you activate or deactivate the phantom power supply for inputs MIC 13 independently. The mixer supplies 15 V DC in the XLR terminals corresponding to the activated input.
16.- MIC 2: microphone input with combo connector (XLR and 6.3 mm stereo jack). Balanced and
unbalanced microphone signals and dynamic or condenser microphones can be connected. If phantom
power supply is needed, the mixer itself supplies 15 V DC through the XLR connector activating the
phantom selector corresponding to the MIC 2 input.
17.- PRIORITY MIC: selector which lets you choose the attenuation that the mixer inputs are going to suffer
when priority is activated in inputs MIC 1-3. It is possible to select from 3 positions: off, -30 dB
attenuation, and total input attenuation.
18.- SENSITIVITY: control wheel which determines the necessary input sensitivity to activate priority in
inputs MIC 1-3.
19.- DELAY TIME: control wheel which determines the time the signal from the other inputs takes to return
to its normal volume, after one stops speaking through inputs MIC 1-3.
INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION
Maintain the mixer switched off while the connections are being made.
Check that the cable connectors are firmly connected to the input connectors. A bad connection could cause
noise or interference.
Use suitable cables and ones that are not excessively long to make the connections: shielded cables,
preferably low capacity.
Always start with the mixer volume controls at a minimum. Move the controls slowly.
Connect the source to the mains (230 V AC).
When not using the mixer disconnect the power supply source from the mains to avoid using electricity.

WARRANTY
This product has been tested and has passed the corresponding quality control prior to being put on the market.
FONESTAR guarantees the suitability of the product for its specified use during a period of 2 years from the
delivery date and commits itself to repair or substitute the goods as expressed in the Spanish law ‘La Ley General
para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre.
The lack of conformity in the first six months after purchase, due to a manufacturing defect, will be rectified with
no more than showing the proof of purchase. After six months FONESTAR reserves the right to demand proof of
the product being sold with that problem.
This warranty does not include damage produced by: inappropriate use or negligence, accidents, worn out parts
due to use, breakages, burns, spilt liquids or other substances, excessive humidity, battery deterioration and
internal manipulation of the device, the software or its components by unauthorized persons, and in general any
use that is unrelated to the nature and purpose of the product.
If any service is needed during the warranty period because of lack of conformity, please contact the business or
distributor where the product was purchased in no more than 2 months after being conscious of the problem. It
is only necessary to contact FONESTAR if it is impossible or imposes an undue burden for them to solve it.
To benefit from this warranty it is necessary to show the proof of purchase with the date clearly visible, with no
corrections or crossing out.
This document adds information, and never decreases the consumers’ rights, which in all cases are protected by
the Spanish law ‘La Ley General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007
