FLEX SNOWGUARD PVC COATED
AVALANCHE PREVENTION SYSTEM
Flex SnowGuards are designed to retain snow and ice on pitched single ply roof systems. SnowGuards
are constructed of .125 thick aluminum and are available in 4’ lengths. The four-foot SnowGuard
sections are installed in two staggered rows with 3’ spacing between them across the roof surface. This
spacing provides continuous protection since each SnowGuard overlaps with the SnowGuard above or
below it while also distributing the snow load.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Material: .125 inch thick mill finish aluminum / Coated PVC
Profile: 4” high vertical face
4” wide flange prepunched for securement (five holes)
Slot Size: 3/8” wide vertical drainage slots
Length: 4’ standard length
INSTALLATION
1. Install two rows of 4’ length SnowGuards along the perimeter of the roof. The two rows
should run parallel to one another, three feet between rows.
2. The first rows should be set back 2’ from the perimeter edge of the roof. Chalk a line across
the roof for placement. Chalk a second line 3’ up from the first line.
3. Start the first row of SnowGuards at the edge of the roof at the rake end. Install SnowGuards
across the roof with 3’ spacing between each guard.
4. The second row of the SnowGuards should be started 3 and ½ feet in from the rake end and run
across the roof with three-foot spacing between each guard (same as first row).
NOTE: Nailers should be securely anchored to the roof deck to resist a Minimum Force of 300
Pounds Per Lineal Foot. Follow Factory Mutual Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-49 for
Recommendations.
