Installation
IMPORTANT
Please read the instructions below before installation or use of your Flavel Electric Heater.
NEVER use this heater where it may come into
contact with water i.e. bathroom, show er room, kitchen.
NEVER leave unsupervised children where the
heater is left switched ON or is left unguarded.
NEVER use this heater beneath a fixed socket
outlet.
NEVER cover or obstruct the fan outlet, as this
will cause the appliance to overheat.
NEVER install the heater close to combustible
material i.e. curtains or similar. Allow a minimum of one metre around the
heater. NEVER route the mains cable beneath carpet. NEVER use aerosols or similar close to the
heater. NEVER use the heater to dry clothes or similar.
NEVER use the heater by means of an
automatic control or timer, as this may
cause risk of fire if the heater is moved
or covered.
The appliance MUST be disconnected from the mains supply before commencing cleaning, or maintenance.
Ensure the heater is firmly secured to the fixing plain to prevent it from falling forward.
Use a suitable fireguard to protect both the infirm and young children who could come into contact with the heater.

Installation Requirements
The Flavel Electric heater is supplied with a moulded three­pin plug (13Amp) and approximately 2 metres of flexible
mains cable (1mm2). The appliance and surround should therefore be located close to a suitable mains socket to enable connection. The electrical socket MUST be easily accessible to allow disconnection.
This appliance must not be directly installed on a carpet or similar material. We recommend that it is fitted onto a hearth or similar non-combustible material.
This heater MUST be earthed. If in any doubt consult a suitable competent person.
Connections L = Brown N = Blue E = Green / Yellow
Replacement fuses should be approved and conform to BS
1362. Before use ensure that the supply voltage matches that marked on the appliance. The mains cable should be routed from the heater to the socket connection without

being trapped or being liable to damage. If the mains cable is damaged it should be replaced by a suitably competent qualified person.
The heater is suitable for installation as a free standing appliance.
A minimum of 300mm clearance is required at each side and at the rear of the appliance. Do not install this appli­ance if you do not have 300mm clearance to the side and rear panel.
If fitted into an open draught type fireplace or chimney then it may be advisable to blank off the aperture to reduce the amount of draught created through the fireplace, which can cause operation of the safety cut-out.
Unpacking The Appliance
This Flavel Electric heater is supplied in a single pack carton. All Instructions should be read prior to unpacking or installing the appliance. Ensure all parts including loose items have been removed prior to discarding the packaging.

Operation Of Heater
The heater is operated via the use of three switches situated on the left hand side of the canopy.
Switch No
Marking Operation
Switch On O I On / Off. Depress to I,
this operates the flame effect.
Switch Two I 1kW heat setting and
Fan
Switch Three II 2kW heat setting and
Fan
All three switches are mechanically linked, therefore when switch one is turned off, all switches are turned to Off.
Note:
When turning off the heat settings it may be necessary to wait for the fire to ‘reset’ before turning heat settings back on. This is due to the normal operation of the ‘safety cut-out’ device.
IMPORTANT Safety Cut Out
This appliance is fitted with an automatic safety cut out. This operates if the air outlet beneath the canopy becomes covered or blocked. This will prevent the fan heater from operating.
In order to RESET the appliance the following procedure should be followed:-
Switch OFF the appliance and disconnect the appliance from the mains supply
Leave the appliance disconnected for a MINIMUM of 10mins Check the appliance is free from all obstructions and remove safely Switch ON the appliance at the mains supply socket

Operate the appliance as shown above If the appliance fails to operate, repeat the above procedure ENSURING the appliance is disconnected from the mains supply at the wall socket. If after repeating this procedure the appliance fails to oper­ate CHECK the fuse within the wall socket / plug. If after car­rying out both of the above procedures the appliance still fails to operate, then call a suitably qualified person or CFM Europe Service Engineer.
Care and Cleaning
Always dis-connect the appliance from mains supply and allow to cool before any cleaning operation.
Trim parts may be cleaned using a clean, damp cloth. Never use any abrasive cleaners and chemical agents as damage may occur to the paint finish.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Fire Illuminates but no flame effect Check the flame effect disc is free is seen from obstruction (behind coal effect)
Fire operates with heat then cuts out Safety ‘Cut-Out’ has operated,
ensure the heater is not covered or obstructed. Turn off appliance and wait 10 mins to reset. Retry appliance.
No flame effect is seen after switch is Check condition of bulb (see below) switched to position I If bulb is ok check condition of fuse.
It is important that any electrical work is undertaken by a suitably qualified, competent person.
CHANGING THE LIGHTBULB
Disconnect from mains supply. Remove brass trim (three parts) Remove coalform retaining brackets (LH / RH) secured with two screws. Remove one of two screws retaining flame effect disc and rotate away from bulb. Remove bulb from bulbholder, and refit new 60W firelglow bulb. Refit the flame effect disc / holder (two screws). Refit coalform and retaining brackets (ensure flame effect disc is freely rotating) Refit brass trim.
