Give Yourself a Virtual Makeover
on Your iPad®!
Slide your iPad into the Barbie® Digital Makeover
frame and let the makeover begin – without using
real makeup! Select a color, wave the applicator
wand in front of your face, and watch the makeup
you selected magically appear on screen! Even more
amazing, Barbie® Digital Makeover works just like a
real mirror – when you move your face, your
makeover will move with you! Add virtual glitter,
pre-designed looks, and other digital accessories
then take pictures to save and customize!

Keep these instructions for future reference as they contain important
information.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Open battery cover on underside of console
with Phillips head screwdriver (not included).
2. Install 3 new "AA" alkaline (LR6) batteries in
the orientation (+/-) shown.
3. Replace battery cover and tighten the screw.
Replace batteries when the
battery meter in the upper right
corner of Barbie® Digital
Makeover no longer has any bars.

INSERTING YOUR iPad mini
Insert your iPad mini into the
adapter as shown.
Slide the adapter with iPad mini all
the way into the frame, making
sure the camera is visible through
the hole at the top of the frame.

back of the frame down
until it snaps in place to
secure your iPad.
RETURNING TO THE HOME SCREEN
You can return to the iPad home screen at any
time by pressing the Jewel Button at the
bottom of the frame. If you are using an iPad
mini, you will need to press the Home button
on the iPad mini.

BLUETOOTH® PAIRING
You only need to complete Bluetooth pairing the rst time you use
an iPad with Barbie® Digital Makeover.
The iPad must be inserted in the Barbie® Digital Makeover frame to
pair with it.
Touch the Settings icon on your iPad.

Touch “Bluetooth” then move the slider to “On.”
When your iPad detects the Barbie® Digital Makeover console, “Digital
Makeover” will appear in the Devices list. Touch “Digital Makeover” to
pair with your iPad.
Made for iPad (4th generation), iPad mini, iPad (3rd
generation), iPad 2. iOS 6.0 or above required.
INSTALLING THE APP
Once Barbie® Digital Makeover pairs with
your iPad, a dialog box will prompt you to go
to the App Store to download the free app.
Touch “App Store” and you will be taken to
the App Store page where you can install the
Barbie® Digital Makeover app.
Barbie® Digital Makeover prompts you to
download the app only the rst time you
pair with your iPad. If you touch “Ignore” at that time, you will need to
go to the App Store on your own, search for Barbie® Digital Makeover,
and download the free app.
LAUNCHING THE APP
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPad.
Insert your iPad in the Barbie® Digital
Makeover frame. A dialog box will appear.
Touch “Allow” and the lights on the frame
will glow and the app will automatically
launch.
You can also launch the app manually. Touch
the Barbie® Digital Makeover app icon on your home screen.
Battery Meter
The Barbie® Digital Makeover console automatically turns itself o
when you remove your iPad from the frame or when the app has not
been running for 15 minutes.
NOTE: The console does not charge your iPad.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If Barbie® Digital Makeover has trouble tracking your face…
Barbie® Digital Makeover works best in moderate room lighting. Direct
sunlight on your face can decrease the accuracy of the app’s facial
tracking. If you are having problems, try moving Barbie® Digital
Makeover into an area with less light.
If Barbie® Digital Makeover has trouble tracking the
applicator wand…
A blue background or blue clothing can make it dicult for the app to
see the applicator wand. If you are having problems, move into an
area with a neutral background and/or change your shirt or cover your
shoulders with a neutral-colored towel.
If the lights on Barbie® Digital Makeover don’t turn on…
If the lights aren’t on, that means your iPad is not communicating with
the console via Bluetooth.
Go to Settings and enable Bluetooth, then lift up your iPad a few
•
inches and slide it back down to reset the console.
Make sure the console is paired to your iPad.
•
Turn o Bluetooth in any nearby iPad that has been paired with
•
the console.
ADJUSTING THE FRAME
The frame can be tilted into
multiple positions for the
best viewing angle.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

IMPORTANT: If you don’t pair within 60 seconds, the function will time
out. If you want to try again to pair your iPad and console, just lift the
iPad up a few inches within the frame, then slide it back down.
USING A SECOND IPAD
If you have more than one iPad that you want to use with Barbie®
Digital Makeover, turn o Bluetooth in the rst iPad before pairing and
using the second iPad.
BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION
In exceptional circumstances batteries may leak uids that can cause
a chemical burn injury or ruin your product. To avoid battery
leakage:
Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
•
Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the product before
•
being charged (if designed to be removable).
Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
•
supervision (if designed to be removable).
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable
•
(nickel-cadmium) batteries.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
•
Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are
•
to be used.
Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
•
Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the product.
•
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
•
Dispose of batteries safely.
•
GETTING HELP
You can nd tutorials that explain all the dierent features of
Barbie® Digital Makeover. Just touch the “Help” icon in the
upper left corner of the screen whenever you have any
questions.
EXITING THE APP
You can exit the app at any time by pressing
the Jewel Button at the bottom of the frame.
If you are using an iPad mini, you will need to
press the Home button on the iPad mini.
