Chomp the Right Acorns to Make Words!
These hungry Chipmunks love acorns, but in order to keep them they have to collect the right ones from the tree! You can help by using the chomper to choose the correct acorns that spell out words or complete patterns.
CONTENTS:
2 Chipmunk Chompers™ 10 Pattern Cards (20 pattern clues) 16 Acorns 1 Tree (two parts) 10 Word Cards (20 word clues) 2 Tree Brackets (top and Bottom)
OBJECT
Be the first player to earn the most cards by gathering the correct acorns to spell words or complete patterns.
SET UP
Connect both tree parts together making sure the seasonal illustrations in each quadrant match up (winter to winter, fall to fall, etc.)
Secure the top and bottom brackets onto the assembled tree and then place it in the play area.

Acorns
Randomly place the acorns onto the tree with the letter side facing AWAY from the players, 4 acorns to each quadrant. NOTE: for easier play, hang the acorns with the letters facing OUT.
Make sure to place one acorn of EACH color in every quadrant of the tree, hanging two on one side, and two on the opposite side. This will insure the letters are distributed equally.
Bottom Bracket
Decide which game you want to play (Match & Spell, Complete the Pattern or Acorn Chomp), and place appropriate cards in the center of the play area.
Each player chooses a chomper to use during gameplay.
LET’S PLAY!
There are 3 ways to play Chipmunk Chompers™ game: Match & Spell,
Complete the Pattern and Acorn Chomp.
Match & Spell
1. Shuffle the Match & Spell card deck and put it in the playing area.
2. Draw one card from the deck and place it where both players are able to see it.
3. The youngest player goes first.
4. Taking turns, players use the chomper to take one acorn from anywhere on the tree.
5. If the player finds an acorn that has a letter that matches one on the card, they keep it (HINT: the color of the acorn is a clue as to what letter is on it. For example, if the card shows a red acorn with an “c” on it, every “c” on the tree will be on a red acorn).
6. If the player finds an acorn that DOES NOT have a letter that matches one on the card, or one that they ALREADY have, that acorn is returned to the tree.
7. The first player to find all the acorns that match the letters on the card and successfully spells the word, wins that round. They keep the card.
8. Both players place all their acorns back on the tree, and another round then begins with a new card from the deck.
9. First player to complete 3 cards wins!
Complete the Pattern
1. Each player draws a card from the Complete the Pattern card deck and places it in front of them. The card features a pattern of colored acorns with one acorn missing. Players must figure out what color correctly completes the pattern then take that acorn from the tree.
2. This game is a race, so both players go at the same time. The youngest player says “Chomp!” to begin play.
3. At the same time, both players use their chompers to pluck an acorn from the tree that they think completes the color pattern on their card.
4. If you find an acorn that completes the pattern on your card, set that card and acorn aside and then draw another card from the deck and try to complete the pattern on the new card.
5. If the acorn you chose is NOT a match, replace the acorn on the tree and then use your chomper to pick the correct acorn.
6. The first player to complete 5 cards wins!
Acorn Chomp
1. Place all the acorns on the surface of the playing area.
2. On the count of 3, players use their chompers to grab as many acorns as they can, setting them aside as they collect them, until they are all gone.
3. The player with the most acorns wins!
