USING YOUR PASSWORD JOURNAL®
GETTING STARTED
To open your Password Journal for the first time, insert
the Reset Key, with the Girl Tech logo facing up, into the
slot located on the right side panel.
You will then need to select the Mode
(Private, Friend, or Dual) that you would
like to use by sliding the Mode switch to
the desired position.
Private Mode - This mode is for those
times when you don't want to share your
diary secrets with others. In Private Mode,
only you will be able to access Password
Journal with your unique password. Short
words like "popcorn" or "fun" work best.
Friend Mode - With Friend Mode, you
can share your Password Journal with
friends. You will need to pick both a
Planet Password and a Clearance Code.
Your Planet Password can be
Venus,
Saturn, Mercury
or
Jupiter.
Your
Clearance Code can be
Red, Blue,
Yellow
or
Silver.
Dual Mode - Dual Mode combines both
Private and Friend Mode for extra security. You will need to choose your own
password and select a Planet Password
and a Clearance Code.
Depending on the mode you selected, you
will then be prompted to “Record your
Password” and/or “Record your Planet
Password” and “Record your Clearance
Code”. Wait for the green Access light to
illuminate then speak the appropriate
password(s) into the microphone (Mic).
Follow the voice prompts, remembering to
wait for the green light before speaking,
until all passwords and/or Clearance Code have been
accepted.
NOTE: When recording your password(s), make sure you
are in a quiet place. Your Password Journal hears everything.
NORMAL USE
Press and hold the Access button. Depending on the mode
you selected, you will be prompted for “Your Password
Please” or “Your Planet Password Please”. Wait for the
green Access light, then speak the appropriate password
clearly into the microphone (Mic). Continue following the
voice prompts until all passwords have been accepted. Your
Password Journal will open automatically.
CHANGING MODES AND PASSWORDS
Whenever you change modes, you will be prompted to
record new passwords. At the voice prompts, record your
new password(s) by speaking clearly into the microphone
(Mic) as described earlier. To change your password(s) without changing modes, press and hold the Set Password button for about one second. This will erase your old password(s) and you will be prompted to record your new password(s).
LOCKING YOUR PASSWORD JOURNAL®
Firmly close the cover and your Password Journal will lock
automatically.
SECURITY SWITCH
Security - Sliding this switch between “Hi” and “Lo” controls
how precisely your Password Journal recognizes your voice.
If you are experiencing problems with getting your journal to
recognize your password(s), or if you will be sharing it with a
friend, switching to "Lo" security may help.
RESET KEY
The Reset Key is located in the battery compartment. The
Reset Key will open your Password Journal without asking
for your password(s), just in case you forget them. Insert the
Reset Key, with the Girl Tech logo facing up, into the slot
located on the right side panel and your Password Journal
will open automatically.
NOTE: Make sure to keep your key in a safe place or put it
back in the battery compartment. Never put it inside of the
locking portion of your Password Journal.
SECRET COMPARTMENT
The Secret Compartment, located under your Writing
Journal, is perfect for keeping small items, such as coins
or a special note that you want to keep private. To open
the Secret Compartment, push the Latch Tab toward the
left until the door lifts open.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you are having trouble getting your Password Journal to
recognize your password, try switching to the Lo Security
mode.
REPLACING THE BATTERIES
Remove the screw on the battery compartment door
(located on the back of your Password Journal).
Remove the battery compartment door. Remove the
old batteries. Insert three (3) AAbatteries (we recommend
alkaline) with the negative (-) ends against the springs.
You will have one minute to replace the old batteries
before your password(s) are lost. Should you lose your
password(s), you will need to re-enter them as described
earlier.
Replace battery compartment door.
