SETTING UP LASER CHAT
NOTE: You need two Laser Chat units to communi­cate.
1. Unscrew the battery compartment door and insert three (3) AA batteries.
2. Replace the cover.
USING LASER CHAT
1. Turn your Laser Chat on by moving the volume control switch to the “Hi” or “Low” setting.
2. Press and hold the "Record" button. When the light is green, record your message into the mic. You can record a message up to five seconds long.
3. You can listen to your message before you send it by pressing the "Play" button.
4. To send your message, point your Laser Chat towards your friend’s Laser Chat unit and press “send.” The red light will flash to let you know your message is being sent. NOTE: To successfully send a message, both Laser Chats must be turned on and the path between the two Laser Chats must be clear.
5. You know your message has been sent and received when the green light on both units flash three times.
6. Press the "Play" button to hear the message. To reply, repeat steps 2-6.
7. You can also use your Laser Chat to record a reminder message to yourself. Press “Record” and

speak into the mic. Press “Play” to hear your own message.
HELPFUL HINTS
Green Light
The green light tells you what mode your Laser Chat is in. During the record mode the green light is always lit. The green light flashes three times after a message has been successfully sent and when you have received a message.
Red Light
The red light flashes when your Laser Chat is receiv­ing a message from another Laser Chat. Try to keep your Laser Chat still during this transmission or your message may not go through.
Volume/On/Off Control
Volume control is on the left side of the unit. You can switch it to "Hi," "Low" or "Off.” We recommend that you store your Laser Chat in the "Off" position to save batteries.
Reset
If the Laser Chat malfunctions, press the reset fea­ture with a pen or paper clip.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
If you are having trouble receiving a message, make sure you are close enough to the other Laser Chat. Laser Chat can send messages up to 30 feet.

If you are having trouble sending or receiving a mes­sage, make sure the top ends of both units are point­ing towards each other and the path is clear.
If the green light does not flash three times after someone has sent you a message, it is because the message didn't go through . Ask your friend to re­send the message.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
The Laser Chat unit is powered by three (3) AA bat­teries. Replace the batteries as follows:
1.
Remove the screw on the battery compartment door on the stock of the unit. Remove the battery cover. Remover the old battery by unplugging it from the wiring harness.
2.
Insert three (3) AA batteries (we recommend alkaline) with the negative (-) ends against the springs.
3.
Replace the battery compartment cover.
ADULT SUPERVISION IS RECOMMENDED WHEN CHANGING BATTERIES.
CAUTION:
• As with all batteries, the batteries used with this product should be kept away from small children. If a battery is swallowed, consult a physician immedi­ately.
• Always follow the unit and battery manufacturers’ instructions.
• The batteries might leak if improperly installed, or explode if recharged, disassembled or heated.
MAINTENANCE
• Handle the product carefully.
• Store the product away from dusty or dirty areas.
• Keep away from moisture or temperature extremes.
• Do not disassemble the product. If a problem
occurs, press the reset button. If problems continue, remove and replace the batteries – or try new batter­ies. If problems still continue, consult your warranty card for replacement instructions.
• Use only the recommended type of batteries.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
• Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batter-
ies.
• Remove any exhausted batteries from the unit.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
