CARDS - Place one of these cards into the chalkboard. Be sure the card
is inserted correctly.
SLEEP MODE - After two minutes of inactivity, the dolls and chalkboard will automatically shut down, going into “sleep mode”. To turn them on again, simply press the ON buttons.
SETTING UP BATTERY INSTALLATION:
Twinkleberries™ is powered by three (3) “AAA” batteries in the doll and (3) “AAA” batteries in the chalkboard.
• Using a screwdriver, loosen the screw until the battery compartment door can be r
• Insert three (3) “AAA” batteries (we recommend alkaline) as indicated inside the battery compartment located on the bottom of the chalkboard and in the doll’s shoes.
• Replace the battery compartment door and tighten the screw with a screwdriver. Do not over-tighten.
Adult supervision is recommended when changing batteries.

1. Before class begins, press the On but­ton located on the left shoe of each doll. Each doll will raise their hand and will say they are present. Then press the On • Roll Call (registration) button located on the chalkboard to see who is in attendance. Again, each doll will raise their hand and say they are pres­ent. However, this will only happen when the dolls have been inactive for more than two minutes. If you want to take roll call (registration) just press the On • Roll Call (registration) button. Please note: if a doll does not respond, make sure it faces the front of the chalkboar
2. Next, choose one of the cards and slide it into the chalkboard. Make sure you slide it in with the holes at the bottom of the card going in first. If the card is positioned correctly, you will hear a beep sound.

CHALKBOARD - Use this to insert a card and take roll call (registration).
Please note: To store the cards, open the back of the chalkboard and slide your cards in. THE SCHOOL STARTER SET CARDS WILL BE STORED IN THIS AREA. The chalkboard is also the principal/head teacher. The principal/head teacher will say things such as “Time for your morning stretch” or “Fire Drill”. The principal/head teacher voice inside the chalkboard will assist you when you take roll call (registration).
CHALKBOARD ON • ROLL CALL (registration) BUTTON - Press this to turn the chalkboard on and take roll call (registration).
CHALK - Lightly touch the stick of chalk to the middle of the card on the chalkboard after you ask your students a question.

Other questions you may want to ask:

“What color/colour is this?”
“What number is this?”
Each time you ask a question, make sure you press the chalk to the chalkboar

SLEEP MODE
Twinkleberries™ will go into sleep mode after two minutes of inactivity. To play again, press the On button on the bottom of the left shoe and the ON • Roll Call (r
egistration) button on the chalkboard.
TROUBLESHOOTING
• The chalkboard must always be in the correct orientation and distance
to the dolls. If the dolls do not answer or raise their hands, make sure the dolls are lined up and facing the chalkboard.
• If the principal/head teacher in the chalkboard asks if everybody is
awake, make sure the dolls are lined up and facing the chalkboard. You may also need to turn the dolls on again in case they went to sleep.
• If the doll states he or she doesn’t know the answer, re-insert the card
and make sure you hear the beep sound. If the problem persists, try another card.
• If the chalkboard consistently talks, the batteries may be low. Replace
the batteries.
• If the doll does not say anything or fails to raise its arm when you pr

the On button, the batteries may be low. Replace the batteries.
• It is possible that the background or room light may affect the doll’s
ability to respond. Dimmer lights work better.
• The arm may not raise if the clothes are not attached properly. Please
make sure the right arm is clear to raise up.

• Handle this device carefully.
• Store this device away from dusty or dirty areas.
• Keep this device away from moisture or extreme temperature.
• Do not disassemble this device. If a problem occurs, press the Reset
button, or remove and replace the batteries to reset the device, or try new batteries. If problems persist, consult the warranty information located at the end of this instruction manual.
• Use only the recommended battery type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-
cadmium) batteries.
