You’ve purchased the Safe Embrace®II Convertible Car Seat with Easy & Secure LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) System. The Easy & Secure LATCH System makes it possible for you to install this car seat in your vehicle simply by connecting hooks on the car seat to special anchor points within your vehicle.
The Owner’s Manual included with this car seat was developed for use with our basic Safe Embrace®Convertible Car Seat which does not include instructions for use of the Easy & Secure LATCH System. This Instruction Booklet tells you how to properly install the car seat with the Easy & Secure LATCH System. Please read and understand this Instruction Booklet to install this car seat. Refer also to the Owner’s Manual for important information about use of the Safe Embrace Convertible Car Seat.
DO NOT allow others to use this car seat until they understand these instructions and the instructions in the car seat Owner’s Manual.

Proper installation and use depends on you! If you do not follow the instructions in this Instruction Booklet or the Owner’s Manual, your child could be at risk of striking the vehicle’s interior during a sud­den stop or crash, resulting in serious injury or death.
NEVER attach the car seat’s
Easy & Secure LATCH System hooks to anything but your vehicle’s specially designed anchor points. Your vehicle must be equipped with special anchor points compatible with LATCH or ISOFIX to use the Easy & Secure LATCH System.
NEVER alter your vehicle to create anchor points for the Easy & Secure LATCH System.

What are
Special Anchor Points?
Special anchor points are a pair of inverted “U” shaped metal bars attached directly to your vehi­cle’s frame. These special anchor points are locat­ed where the vehicle seat bottom and seat back meet. Please refer to your vehicle owner’s manual to determine if your vehicle is equipped with special anchor points.

Once you have selected an acceptable seating location for the car seat (see car seat Owner’s Manual), locate the special anchor points in your vehicle.

NEVER install the car seat in the rear-facing position in a vehicle seating location equipped with an airbag.The airbag impact can cause severe head injury or death. If your vehicle is equipped with a front passenger side airbag, please refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for child restraint installa­tion instructions.

Unhook the Easy & Secure LATCH System from the back of the car seat.
Loosen the Easy & Secure LATCH System straps. Press the release button on the Easy & Secure LATCH System buckle and pull the strap attached to the car seat tube.
Repeat this procedure to loosen the other strap.

Place the car seat on the vehicle seat facing the rear of the vehicle.
Slide the Easy & Secure LATCH System strap to the end of the burgundy tube. Fasten the Easy & Secure LATCH System hook to the vehicle special anchor point.
Repeat this procedure to fasten the Easy & Secure LATCH System strap on the other side of the car seat to the corresponding vehicle special anchor point.

With both Easy & Secure LATCH System straps fastened to the vehicle special anchor points, push down on the car seat bottom and pull the free ends of the straps (one at a time) until all the slack is removed from the straps. The car seat should be snug against the vehicle seat.
Make sure both straps are tightened evenly so the car seat does not lean.

After tightening both Easy & Secure LATCH System straps, make sure the base of the car seat is flat on the vehicle seat. If the car seat is sloped toward the vehicle seat back, your child will be too upright, allowing your child’s head to droop forward.

If the base of the car seat is not flat on the vehicle seat, insert a rolled bath towel between the vehicle seat and the foot of the car seat. This will raise the foot of the car seat so that the base is flat on the vehicle seat.

Test your installation by pushing on the top of the car seat. The car seat should NOT easily rotate down.
Regularly check to ensure your car seat installation is secure.

To remove the car seat from the vehicle:
While pushing down on the car seat bottom, press the release button on the Easy & Secure LATCH System buckle to loosen the strap.
With the strap loose, unfasten the Easy & Secure LATCH System hook from the vehicle special anchor point.
Repeat this procedure to loosen and unfasten the other strap.

Place the car seat on the vehicle seat facing the front of the vehicle.
Slide the Easy & Secure LATCH System strap to the bend in the burgundy tube. Fasten the Easy & Secure LATCH System hook to the vehicle special anchor point.
Repeat this procedure to fasten the Easy & Secure LATCH System strap on the other side of the car seat to the corresponding vehicle special anchor point.

With both Easy & Secure LATCH System straps fastened to the vehicle special anchor points, push down on the car seat with your knee and pull the free ends of the straps (one a a time) until all the slack is removed from the straps. The car seat should be snug against the vehicle seat.

Attach the tether strap hook to the tether anchor.
Note: For information on tether anchor locations in your vehicle, refer to your vehicle owner’s manual. If you need to install a tether anchor, please refer to page 38 in your car seat Owner’s Manual.
Pull the free end of the tether strap to tighten.
Fold or roll the excess tether strap and tuck it between the car seat and vehicle seat.

To remove the tether strap from the tether anchor:
Lift the tab on the adjuster to loosen the tether strap. Remove the tether strap hook from the tether anchor.

Test your installation of the car seat by rocking the car seat forward and back­ward. You should NOT be able to pull the back of the car seat away from the vehicle seat more than one inch.
Regularly check to ensure your car seat installation is secure.
