Background
The Fisher Type 75A is a direct-operated pressure reducing regulator used in domestic or industrial water applications. It is self-contained and does not require an external control line to operate, i.e. it has internal pressure registration. Fisher Type 75A overlaps heavily with the Cash Valve Type E55 pressure reducing regulator in both offering and application. The Cash Valve Type E55 features higher inlet pressure, higher temperature and more control range capabilities. These advantages along with others make the Cash Valve Type E55 an ideal candidate to help sunset the Fisher Type 75A.

Transition Management
In order to ensure a complete coverage of design
aspects, including mapping specic Fisher product numbers to the equivalent Cash Valve nished good
numbers, the following categories are useful:
1. Fit – Is the installation of this product di󰀨erent?
2. Form – Are there any physical changes?
3. Function – How is the product di󰀨erent in its
operation and performance?

The following is a discussion covering each of these three elements.
Fit
Table 1 shows a comparison of body sizes, end connections, and face-to-face dimensions. For the most part, the sizes are identical except for two
options; the Type 75A o󰀨ers a 2-1/2 in. / 60 mm size that the Type E55 does not and the Type E55 o󰀨ers
a 1-1/4 in. / 32 mm size that the Type 75A does not. The Type E55 is available in both NPT and BSPT
end connections that o󰀨er a larger installation base
and has more platformed face-to-face dimensions. Although it will not be a direct drop-in replacement for the Type 75A in terms of face-to-face dimension, the Type E55 is very similar across the comparable sizes and only exceed the face-to-face dimension for the
1/2 in. / 15 mm size. For additional prole dimensions
please refer to Figure 2.
2
Form
Table 2 addresses the material and construction options between the two products. For the most part,
the products are very similar. One notable di󰀨erence
is that the Cash Valve Type E55 is a full Bronze construction; the spring case in the Fisher Type 75A
is Cast Iron. The Type E55 also o󰀨ers a strainer
screen as an option to help protect the internals from debris and which is easily cleaned. Furthermore, the
Type E55 o󰀨ers Cryogenic constructions for a broader
application range. Since the products are completely
di󰀨erent, no parts are interchangeable and therefore a completely new nished product will be required. A
clear distinction between the two products will be the geometry of the spring case and body connections; the Fisher is circular whereas the Cash Valve is hexagonal.

Fisher Type 75A to Cash Valve Type E55
Function
The function of the Type E55 is very similar to that of the Type 75A since both are direct-operated regulators. The Type E55 features a balanced piston design whereas the Type 75A is unbalanced; to the end user, this means that they do not need to worry
about set point and lockup changes due to uctuating inlet pressures. The Type E55 also o󰀨ers more control
spring options enabling it to be more accurate across
a wider range of process conditions. It also o󰀨ers a
larger maximum inlet pressure rating meaning that the application range is larger than that of the Type 75A.
Conclusion
The Cash Valve Type E55 is the best possible
replacement for the Fisher Type 75A and it o󰀨ers a
broader install base due to several available options such as, more control spring range options, larger maximum inlet pressure rating, and optional Cryogenic constructions. The pressure capabilities, along with a full Bronze construction make this product more versatile and preferable over the Type 75A. Although it is not a direct drop-in replacement, the Type E55’s similarity and ease of maintenance makes it the ideal choice to supersede the Type 75A.
