When us ing your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce
the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following:

TELEPHONE CONNECTION REQUI REMENTS
Except for ringers provided by telephone company, all connections to the telephone network except for
made through standard plugs telephone company provided jacks, or equivalent, in such a manner as to
allow for easy and immediate disconnection of the terminal equipment. Standard jacks should be so
arranged that, if the connected plug is withdrawn, no interference to the operation of the equipment at
the customer’s premises which remains connected to the telephone network shall occur by reason of
such withdrawal.
INCIDENCE OF HARM
Should terminal equipment or protective circuitry cause harm to the telephone network, the telephone
company shall, where practical, notify the c ustomer that temporary discontinuance of service may be
required. However, where prior notices are not practical, the telephone company may temporarily
discontinue service if such action is deemed reasonable in the circumstances. In the case of such
temporary discontinuance, the telephone company shall promptly notify the customer who has the right
to bring a complaint to the FCC if he feels the disconnection is not warranted.

INSTALLATION
POWERING UP THE TELEPHONE
Insert the plug of the AC120V~ DC9V
telephone and plug the AC Adaptor into a properly installed AC 120V~ 60H z mains socket near the equipment
and it should be easily accessible.
CONNECTING THE TELE PHONE
1. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL.LINE JACK at the bottom of the telephone base.
2. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into the wall outlet.
3. Plug one end of the coiled cord into the handset's modular jack.
4. Plug the other end of the coiled cord into the left side of the telephone.
INSTALLING BACKUP BATTERIES
Your telephone requires f our AA batteries (not included) for back up. W hen the “
or the display gets dim, replace all the batteries with four fresh “AA” size (UM-3) ones.
Notes:The telephone num bers in memory and the voice rec ordings are stored in no n-volatile flash m emory which
does not require battery power for backup.
When there is an AC power outage, the installed backup batt eries will au tomaticall y switch in to maintain all
normal functions of the telephone. To avoid excessive battery drain, please make sure to connect the
provided AC Adaptor properly to the telephone and household AC power all the time.
Before opening BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER, make sure the telephone is disconnected from the
telephone line and AC Adaptor.
INSTALLING BATTERIES INTO THE TELEPHONE
1. Open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER located on bottom of cabinet using a small flat-blade
screwdriver (not included).
2. Ins ert four 1.5V
the polarity markings as indicated in the compartment.
3. Snap the BATTERY COMPARTMENT COVER back into place.

following the polarit y markings as indicated on the PCB. (Remarks: the m etal plate with a spring is the
negative battery terminal).

BATTERY CARE
Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly . Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old or leaking batteries can
cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
Do not try to rec harge batt eries n ot inten ded to b e recharged; the y can overh eat and r upture (Follow ba ttery
manufacturer’s directions).
Do not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may explode or leak.
MOUNTING THE PHO NE ON A WALL
The phone may be mounted on a suitable wall or other vertical surface by following the procedures below.
Select an area of the wall where you would like to hang your phone and m ake sure that there are no p ipes or
electrical cables buried in the wall in this area.

Caution: Cables to electrical switches and sockets usually run vertically in the wall. Do not mount your phone
directly above or belo w an electric switch or soc ket unless you are sure th at the cables will not be dam aged by
the fixing screws.
1. Drill two holes vert icall y, one above the other, 3-1/4” (83mm) apart, and leave the scr ews protru ding f rom the
wall by about 3/16” (5mm).
Note: Adjust the amount th at the screw heads protr ude f r om the wall so that when t he p hone is f ina ll y hung,
it lies flat.
2. Press and lift out the HAND SET HO LDER. R emove the hanging peg (loca ted b y the ho ok switch) by pushing
it upwards and snap it into place so it will hold the handset in place when the phone is mounted on the wall.
3. Insert the two tabs of the WALL MOUNT BRACKET into the matching s lots opposite the keyhole slot on the
underside phone b ase. T hen pr ess dow n and slide the brack et up ward until the ta bs snap into plac e and the
bracket is latched in place by the WALL MOUNT BRACKET LATCH.
4. Plug one end of the TELEPHONE LINE CORD into the TEL. LINE JACK at the back of the base.
5. Plug the other end of the LINE CORD into t he wall plate jac k, then align the base's KEYHOLE SLOTS with
the screws and slide the telephone unit downward to secure it.

SETTING THE RINGER VOLUME CONTROL
The ringer sound level can be adjusted by sliding the RINGER SELECTOR to select Hi, Mid or Lo level.
The RINGER INDICATOR will flash with all incoming calls.
ADJUSTING THE HANDSET V OLUME CONTROL
This feature is usef ul for people with im paired hearing who require extra level of amplification and tone control
offered by this telephone.
The VOLUME BOOST INDICATOR is used to indicate when the volume level is increased.
1. Press the +40dB VOLUME BOOST BUTTON, the VOLUME BOOST INDICATOR will turn ON.
2. Adjust the handset volume by turning the rotary HANDSET VOLUME CONTROL to select the desired
listening level (level 1 to 9).
3. During the convers ati on, yo u may turn OFF the volume boost b y pr ess in g t he RE D +40dB VOLUME BO OST
BUTTON again, and the VOLUME BOOST INDICATOR will turn OFF. The sound level will return to normal.
4. When you hang up, the phone will reset to normal sound level.
SETTING THE TONE CONTROL (TONE HI/LO)
The TONE HI/LO SLIDE CONTROL allows you to f it your s pec if ic h ear i ng nee ds , so words are clearer an d e as ier
to understand. Slid e the TONE HI/LO CONTROL to “Lo” to enhance the lower frequenc y range and to “ Hi” to
enhance the high frequency range.
Note: The tone control function will not be effec tive when the VOLUME BOOST INDICATOR is OFF.
SETTING THE SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL
You can adjust the speakerphone volume to a more comfortable listening level using the SLIDE VOLUME
CONTROL.
PAIRING THE REMOTE PENDA NT
The phone comes with one remote pendant for em ergency use. You can p air up to a total of 5 pendant s to your
phone. FULL will show on the display if you attempt to pair a sixth pendant. To pair the pendant to your phone:

4. If you want to cancel a paired pendant, select “DELETE?” and press DIAL BUTTON to confirm. A voice
prompt will confirm the successful delete action. It will then exit to normal display automatically.

TELEPHONE OPERATION
DIALING A CALL
1. Pick up the HANDSET or press
dial tone.
2. Press the KEYPAD for the telephone number you wish to dial. The disp lay will show the number that you
have dialed on the KEYPAD. If you dial a number over 14 digits long, it will show the last 14 digits only.
3. When you have completed your call, hang up the HANDSET or press
BUTTON (the SPEAKER PHONE INDICATOR will light) and wait for a
button again to release the

Note:

PRE-DIALING A PHO NE NUMBER
1. Enter the telephone number on the KEYPAD. The telephone will voice the digits dial ed (with Voice Prompt
ON and set to either English, Spanish, Italian or French).
2. To modify a number, press the DELETE BUTTON for each digit to be corrected.
3. Pick up the HANDSET, press the DIAL BUTTON or press
BUTTON.
RECEIVING A CALL
When you receive a call, th e telephone r ings and the RINGER INDICATOR flashes. The LCD DISPLAY will show
the CALL# and the cal ler telepho ne num ber if you have subs cribed t o Caller ID. The telep hone will sa y the nam e
of the caller if the number m atches a name saved in the phone bo ok, if not, it will say the number of the calling
party.
This feature allows you to decide to pick up the phone or not depending on who is calling.
If you want to talk to the caller:
1. Pick up the HANDSET or press
2. At the end of the call, return the HANDSET to the cradle or press
BUTTON to answer the call.

SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL
You can adjust the speakerphone volume to the desired listening level using the SLIDE VOLUME CONTROL.
REDIAL
To redial the last number called:
1. Lift the HANDSET or press
BUTTON.
2. Press the REDIAL BUTTON.
Note : The last number dialed manually (up to 32 digits long) can be redialed.
PAUSE
You can inser t a 3.6 second pause while dialing or st oring a num ber into mem ory in order to access custom and
telebanking services, lon g distance, etc. Press REDIAL BUTTON at the desired point within the number and a “P”
will be inserted. Press REDIAL BUTTON again if an additional 3.6 second pause is needed.
CALL WAITING (
subscription to Call Waiting service may be required)
Many special telephone services, such as Call Waiting, require a switch hook signal.
If you have Call Waiting service, you can put a call on ho ld and take a sec ond inc oming call on the s ame line b y
pressing CALL WAITING BUTTON. Press CALL WAITING BUTTON again to alternate between the two callers.
Note: If you do not have any special p hone services requiring a switc h hook signal, pr essing CALL WAITING
BUTTON may disconnect the current call.
MUTE
Press and hold the MUTE BUTTO N so that the person on the other end of the line will not hear what you are
saying. You can continue to hear the person on the other end.

IMPORTANT NOTES
You can use your REMOTE PEND ANT to ans wer a call. W hen the phone rings sim ply tap the red REMOTE
PENDANT TRANSMIT BUTTON, the call will be answered and you will be able to talk using the
speakerphone. To d isc onnect th e ca ll sim pl y press the red butt on again. Be car ef ul not t o hol d the button for
too long (about 2.5 seconds) or you will activate the emergency call program. If there is no response from the

This telephone has two One-Touch memories: M1 and M2.
Once a number has been stored in each of these m emory locations, you only need a sing le press to make the
call.

BASIC CALLER ID OPERATIONS
This telephone can store up to 64 incoming calls.
If an incorrect, invalid or incomplete Caller ID signal is received, the display shows “LINE ERROR”.
If only the caller’s phone n umber is received, the disp lay shows the cal ler’s pho ne num ber with the time and
date it was received. The “NEW” icon turns on and NEW CALL INDICATOR blinks.
If both the caller ’s name and phone num ber are received, the displa y shows the caller’s nam e and phone
number, with the tim e and date it was rec ei ved. The “NEW” icon turns on and NEW CALL INDICAT OR blinks.
If the caller’s name has more than 16 characters, only the first 16 characters will be displayed.

Check that all phone cord connections (including the coiled handset cord) and AC Adaptor are securely
plugged into the telephone & wall jack.
Check that the phone is in the correct dialing mode, Touch-Tone or Pulse Setting.
Plug another phone into the jack to make sure your jack and phone service is functioning properly.
Call will not dial out or dials very slowly
Check that the phone is in the correct dialing mode, Touch-Tone or Pulse Setting
No audible ringer
You may have too many extensions on your line. Try unplugg ing a f e w de vices . Having too man y telepho nes
and/or accessories can also create problems such as low ringer volume or impaired quality during calls.

Check to see if the VOLUME BOOST INDICATOR is “ON”. The red LED on the left side of the +40dB
VOLUME BOOST BUTTON should light.
