2, Oil and Gasoline / LPG
Add Engine Oil
We recommend using FIRMAN SAE 10W-30 API SJ oil for best performance. Other high-quality detergent oils (API SJ or higher) are acceptable. Do not use special additives. Ambient temperature determines the proper oil viscosity for the engine. Use the chart to select the proper oil for the outdoor temperature range expected. NOT ICE Do not attempt to crank or start the engine before it has been properly filled with the recommended type and amount of oil. Damage due to operation with no oil will void your warranty.

6.Oil lev el should be checke d prior to each use or at l east every 8 hour s of operation. Kee p oil level mai ntained.
Low Oil Shutdown
The portable generator is equipped with a low oil shutdown. If the oil level drops below the minimum required level, a sensor will activate an internal switch stopping the engine. If the engine shuts off and the oil level is within specifications, check to see if generator is sitting at an angle. Place portable generator on an even surface to correct this. If engine fails to start, the oil level may not be high enough to deactivate the internal low oil level switch. Make sure the sump is completely full of oil to the upper limit (H). Do not operate engine until oil level issue is corrected. Contact Firman customer service.
Add Gasoline
WARNING! Fuel and its vapors are extremely flammable which could cause burns or fire
resulting in death or serious injury.

The GFCI protects against electric shock that may be caused if you become a path which electricity travels to reach earth. Even with a GFCI you may feel a shock, but the GFCI cuts power quickly so an average per son should not suffer any injury. Manual tes t GFCI while generator is running to verify internal contacts will function
Push the te st button. The rese t button will pop out , which should cu t power to outlet. Press the r eset button until i t locks in the depres sed position. I f the GFCI does not res et as describ ed do not use the recep tacles. Call Firm an customer ser vi ce. If GFCI tri ps while in use, rese t and test the outlet . Surge Protection
There is a remote chance that voltage fluctuations may impair the proper functioning of some sensitive electronic equipment. Electronic devices, including computers and many programmable appliances may use components that are designed to operate within a narrow voltage range and may be affected by the portable generator’s momentary voltage fluctuations. While there is no way to prevent all voltage fluctuations, you can take steps to protect your sensitive electronic equipment. Install a plug-in surge suppressor on the receptacles feeding your sensitive equipment. Surge suppressors come in single or multi-outlet styles. They are designed to protect against short duration voltage fluctuations.

Long Term Storage
It is important to prevent gum deposits from forming in essential fuel system components such as the carburetor, fuel hoses or tank during storage. Alcohol-blended fuels (called gasohol, ethanol or methanol) attract moisture, which leads to separation and formation of acids during storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of an engine while in storage.
When the generator set is being stored for more than one month, follow these instructions to avoid engine problems:
WARNING! F ue l and its vapors ar e extremely flamm able which could ca use burns or fire res ulting in death or se rious injury.
Do not stor e fuel near any ignit ion sources. When drai ning fuel move gene rator outdoors an d use a commercia lly available non -conductive vacuum si phon. Fuel must be dr ained into an appro ved container .
1-Treat a ny stored fuel with f uel stabilizer. 2-When st oring generator w ith gasoline in fue l tank, operate t he e ngine for 5-10 mi nutes to circula te treated fuel int o fuel lines and carb uretor before s hu tdown. 3- There is n o need to drain gasol ine from the genera tor fuel tank if fu el s tabilizer is ad ded. 4-FUEL ST ARVATION: If you el ect to drain fuel tan k move generato r ou tdoors. Once fu el tank is drained t urn main fuel selec tor switch to GAS pos ition. Start an d run the portable ge nerator outdoor s until engine stop s from lack of gasoli ne. This will dra in remaining gaso line from tank, fuel line s, and carburetor . 5-Alway s turn main fuel sele ctor switch to OFF po sition prior to s torage. 6-Allow t he portable gener ator to cool before c leaning and sto rage. 7-Chang e oil . 8-Remov e spark plug boot and s park plug. Pour abo ut one teaspoon o f engine oil throug h the spark plu g hole, then slowly p ull the recoil star ter several tim es to distribute th e oil in the cylinde r. Reinstall the sp ark plug and attach t he spark plug boo t. Pull recoil slow ly until resistan ce is felt. Th is will close the val ves so no moisture en ters the engine c ylinder. 9-Cover t he portable gener ator and store in a cle an, dry place out o f direct sunlight a nd away from any ignit ion sources. Any damag e or hazards caused b y using improper fu el, improperl y stored fuel, and/ or improperly formula ted stabilizers , are not covered by ma nufacturer' s wa rranty. Do not stor e gasoline from one s eason to another se ason.
