HotPort FT 5900 Mesh Node Quick Installation Guide
This quick installation guide describes how to install the HotPort node safely. The HotPort is intended to be installed by trained professionals. Be sure to read and understand all installation
Use an approved outdoor-rated antenna instead and safety instructions before proceeding with the installation.
Model Use No. of Radios
FT 5900, Worldwide, 2.4, 4.9, 5 GHz and 900MHz US only
The HotPort FT5900 contains two radios. The number of radios that will be active is determined by the license. Use of 802.11n
MIMO is also enabled via license and other radio is dedicated 900MHz.

Planning Your Installation
HotPort 5900 nodes are easy to install. They are mechanically compatible with existing HotPort nodes. HotPort 5900 nodes form their own mesh
Refer to the Hot View Pro Reference Guide for details
Staging Considerations
You should set up and test your nodes on a bench or table before installing them. This will allow you to pre-configure the nodes so that they are all on the same RF channel, etc.
1. Set up your HotPort node in a lab with all other HotPort units using the right antennas,
2. Make the necessary connections and power the units.
3. Install the HotView Pro software on a workstation and connect the workstation to a HotPort node. (See the HotView Pro Reference Guide for information about installing and using HotView)
You will use HotView Pro to configure the nodes and create a mesh network. Configure and test the settings you plan to use.
1. Begin by checking to see that all nodes are visible in HotView. If not, troubleshoot this problem according to the directions in the HotView Pro Reference Guide.
2. Set the Country Code for your country of operation.
3. Re-verify that all nodes are visible.
4. Verify that dual-radio node and 900MHz Radio Node correctly are meshed.
Installing the Node
Node installation is straightforward. Insert the unit in the housing. Attach the antennas.
Apply power. The power LED should illuminate immediately; after about 60 to 90 seconds the status LED should switch to steady green
Antenna Orientation
MIMO technology takes advantage of signal reflections to improve performance. Antenna orientation affects this. Firetide recommends that you begin deployment with the antennas
Depending on performance, you may wish to try other orientations. The antennas between the 900MHz node and the Dual radio node are sufficiently apart to avoid any interference
