Installation Instructions Island and Wall Hoods/ Indoor and Outdoor Applications
PLEASE READ ENTIRE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING.
INSTALLATION MUST COMPLY WITH ALL LOCAL CODES.

1. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the
manufacturer. If you have any questions, contact

disconnecting means cannot be locked, attach a tag
to the service panel to indicate power has been
switched off for maintenance.

1. Never leave surface units unattended at High
Settings. Boil- Overs may cause smoking and/or
greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly
on low or medium settings.
2. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high
heat or when flambéing foods (i.e. Crepes
Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Peppercorn Beef
Flambé).
3. Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease
should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or
filter.

TOP GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
SMOTHER FLAMES with a close- fitting lid, cookie sheet, or other metal tray, then turn off the gas
burner or the electric element.
DO NOT USE TO EXHAUST HAZARDOUS, EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS, OR VAPOR!
IMPORTANT: Save these instructions for the Local Electrical Inspector’s use.

SAFETY WARNING: Turn off power circuit at the service panel and lock out
panel, before wiring this unit.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IN CASE OF FIRE OR FLAMES:
1. BE CAREFUL TO PREVENT BURNS. IF THE FLAMES DO NOT GO OUT
IMMEDIATELY, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
2. NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN – you may be burned.
3. DO NOT USE WATER TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES; including wet dish-
cloths or towels - a violent steam explosion will result.
4. Use an extinguisher ONLY if:
a. You know you have a class ABC extinguisher, and you already know how to
operate it.
b. The fire is small and contained in the area where it started.
c. The fire department is being called.
d. You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.

CAUTION: FOR GENERAL VENTILATION USE ONLY. DO NOT USE TO EXHAUST
HAZARDOUS OR EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS OR VAPORS.
A. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified person in accordance with all
applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
B. Sufficient air is needed fo r proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of
fuel burning equipment to prevent back drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s
guidelines and safety standards, such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers
(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
C. When cutting or drilling into a wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden
utilities.
D. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
E. If this unit is to be installed over a tub or shower, it must be marked as appropriate for the application
and be connected to a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) – protected branch circuit.
F. NEVER place a switch where it can be reached from a tub or shower.
G. CAUTION- TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, USE ONLY METAL DUCTWORK.
H. Install this hood in accordance with all requirements specified by the manufacturer of your grill, or
top/range.
I. Install this hood using required clearance from cooking surface to combustible material specified in grill
top installation instructions.

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS:
The high degree of craftsmanship in the construction and finish of your hood requires
careful handling to ensure proper installation.
• Do not remove your hood from its carton until you are ready to hang it.
• If the hood needs to be lifted, place your fingers under the lower reveal of the hood: Grasp
firmly, and lift. Additionally, arrange it on a blanket or padded area that will protect your
hood from scratches or indentations.
• Do not store your hood anywhere other than within the carton.
• Do not lift the hood by its utensil rail. Place your fingers under the lower reveal of the hood.
Grasp firmly and lift.
•Cotton gloves are preferable. They will protect the surface from fine scratches and eliminate
fingerprints.
•Remove all rings, watches, belt buckles, and jackets (with the snaps and zippers) to prevent
scratch marks.
•Do not remove the cotton flannel from your hood until the installation process is complete. It
will be necessary to remove only a small portion on the back-side of a wall mounted hood in
order to position in place.
•Located within the hood cavity (behind the baffle filter) are component parts and halogen
bulbs.
